Ramona N. Yanez, age 85, passed away in Fresno on May 27, 2024. She was born on May 26, 1939 in Azusa, California to Candido and Jennie Navarro. Ramona was a teacher and a Director at the Highway City Head Start Program. She went on to work at Pacific Bell and retired in 1995. She played saxophone at Central High School and was a majorette. She loved music and enjoyed listening to Fat’s Domino, her brother’s band The Rhythm Teens, and dancing at her brother’s nightclub Country Joe’s. She was very intelligent and hardworking. Her greatest accomplishment was to have her children build homes nearby so she could always see her grandkids. Even when she retired she still drove the kids to school in what she called “Grandma’s school bus.” The fond memories will always be with us. My mom was fun, liked to laugh, blunt, and told us like it was. There was no sugarcoating. We will miss all her fun quotes, and although sometimes age inappropriate, she’d say it anyway to get her point across and make us laugh.
"We will never forget you Mom!
Ramona is survived by her daughters; Debbie Vasquez; Sandra Yanez; Jessie Gonzales; Ruby Yanez; and her son Robert R. Yanez and seventeen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
