In the 1970's-'80's, I was a deer hunting guide and cowboyed on ranches in Webb County, Texas. In the 70's we had several small groups coming across seasonally, mostly looking for work. We left line shacks unlocked and stocked with canned food and water jugs and very rarely had any problems. The human flow increased in the '80's with folks passing through on their way to the cities looking for better jobs than ranch work. The type of people coming in changed, too, and many of these tore up the shacks, cut fences, and stole what they could. Like all ranch hands, we had always carried truck guns, but, that's when when we started keeping guns on our saddles or on our hips. That was before the cartels' human and drug trafficking really got started. It's a wonderful part of the country marred be this situation.

Why don't we pony up money to run this in prime time.
