This was such a good movie!
Note: I recorded this about three weeks ago. I have spent countless hours trying to get it unblocked (with different pieces removed, effects added, etc.). The company said that the block would stand, so I uploaded this version - there is a blur over all clips from the movie. I wanted to have some parts visible, but I have no interest in putting any more time into it (I'm probably closing in on 20 hours of working with it).

How is it that a dozen other movie reactors were able to show their reactions with the screen in perfect focus for the entire video? I don't understand why you are not allowed to do so, but it makes the experience unrewarding. What are you reacting to? We can't tell. Try to imagine: you see someone watching a big fuzzy blob and emoting... why? Were i you, i would gather the links to as many other sites as i could, where the video is running unblurred, and ask: why am i being singled out? But you may quote me in saying that you have lost my viewership because you were forced to present your product in this degraded form. Good luck -

The reason Michael's face took so long to heal was because that police captain broke his jaw . Also , the movie takes place over a 10 year period from 1945 - 1955 , which explains the time jumps .

Vito only made the truce so he could bring Michael home safely. A deleted scene shows Mike telling his father that he didn't give his word and wanted revenge. Vito just said "We have plenty of time to talk about that now." They plotted it together.

"For 1972" - made me laugh. Some incredibly well-made movies came out pre-2000. In fact, a vast majority of what are considered classics came out before then. I was just a tot when this came out, but by the time I was in my teens I had seen this and a few hundred others from the 30s on through. There's so much gold there. You should think about trying that - start picking decades, going backwards to the "golden age" (30s/40s/50s) and pick a handful of classics from each decade. The only problem is, it will be very hard to narrow down to a handful per decade.

When you first watch an older film, I find it can be off-putting, but once you get used to it, it stops being a negative at all. People just need to watch a few to get over that initial hurdle. I used to complain when my parents wanted me to watch a film older than me, now MOST of my favourites are from before I was born (I love 60s-70s especially).
@gibsongirl2100
@gibsongirl2100 2 года назад
@@AllWordsAreDust I agree that the really old gems might be a shock to the system - the black&white aspect seems to be an issue with people I've spoken to. Films from the 60s and 70s might be easier to get into at first - some great moviemaking then, for sure. It's hard for me to get that people are put off sometimes, but that's probably because I started watching "classic movies" (30s, 40s &50s) when I was about nine, and fell in love almost instantly with everything about them - so I'm a bit biased. My first movie crush was Humphrey Bogart in "Dead End" - so there you go. You're right that people just need to give them a chance - appreciate dialogue, story-line and style over action and/in-your-face sex and violence (jeez - I sound like an old school marm). Not that there aren't some amazing films from the last twenty years - it just puzzles me when people assume that anything made prior to the 21st century was amateurish and unsophisticated - like an elementary school play. Sorry for the ramble.
@AllWordsAreDust
@AllWordsAreDust 2 года назад
@@gibsongirl2100 I completely agree, it straight up annoys me when people consider older things inferior, or sees art as something that progresses like technology, with the old becoming obsolete when a shiny new thing comes along. I remember by parents made me match Casablanca when I was about 15, and I was very skeptical because it was so "old" and black and white, but I ended up finding one of the absolute best films I'd ever seen. Now, my expectations are higher for older things because I know to still be remembered after so long, there's probably something special about it. Even modern films that get a lot of critical praise on release are often forgotten by everyone within 5 years, while some that go originally under the radar persevere - time reveals the gems.

The mattresses thing refers to the family getting apartments around the city and furnishing them with mattresses. The soldiers of the family would then stay in these apartments while the gang war rages, because the enemy wouldn't know where they were. Clemenza, the peeing guy, and Rocco, the guy in the backseat, pick up Paulie, the bodyguard who called in sick. They told him that they were going around town to look for some good apartments to get. This was their way of luring Paulie out where they can kill him. Rocco is the one who shoots him.
@gazoontight
@gazoontight 2 года назад
This is a movie that requires paying strict attention to details. At 19:50 or so, Rocco shoots Pauli. Remember, in the living room scene Sonny told Clemenza that he didn't want to see Pauli around anymore because Pauli called in sick the day that Vito was shot. Yes, 53:00 Michael was in the church standing as godfather to this sister's baby while Corleone gunmen killed Tataglia, Barzini, Stracci, and Cunio, the heads of the other four families, and also Moe Green from Las Vegas.

He was dating Kay - he liked her and cared about her, but was probably nowhere near becoming engaged to her when he left. When he went to Italy, he was thunderstruck by Apolonia - just swept off his feet - and Kay was forgotten. Not the kindest way to end it, but these things happen. When he approached her after being back a year, I think he realized that it was time to marry, have a family, etc. She seemed the logical choice - she was obviously still very much in love with him, or he wouldn't have convinced her in one afternoon walk.

Actually if you watch the deleted scene's a part that was cut out there is a scene of Mike and Kay in bed in which they are talking about getting married he was going to ask for Vito's permission at Christmas, Kay wanted to elope but Mike had respect for his father not to, then he called Tom to tell him they would be coming the next day, which explain's why in the scene in the phone booth Mike asked Sonny whether Tom told him that he called

@16:38 _All because the one man (Luca Brasi) went to try to see what's going on wiith the family?_ Nope. Solozzo (with both the Tattaglias & the Brazinis holding his strings) wants the money and legal protection provided by the Corleones (who has the strongest connections among the families) for the lucrative narco deal. The Don, Vito Corleone, refused, but the elder son Santino (Sonny) showed interest by speaking out of order in the meeting. This gave Solozzo the impression that *killing the Don, thus making Santiino the new Don, would make it much easier to strike the deal with the Corleones.* Solozzo, thinking Vito is dead, is already telling the "cancegleri" Tom Hagen to convince Santino (@16:56).
@zeezee9670
@zeezee9670 2 года назад
@27:42 _Because if they pick you up & they want you dead , you're not gonna make it to the public place._ They don't want him dead. The Corleones are the strongest when it comes to political connections. The Barzinis (controlling the Tattaglias, who control Solozzo & Cpt. McClusky ) want the apparent heir to the now vulnerable Corleones, be it Michael or Santino (Sonny) to agree to the narco deal with them.

"I love that he's courting her under the family's supervision. People don't do that anymore." I did it seven years ago with my wife. I made a few trips from Texas to Georgia and courted her under the supervision of her family. She made one or two trips out here to meet my family. And that was that. :) We are still happy and that Lord has blessed us. I do agree that courting is rare, but thankfully it's still around.

Michael got in the car, because his safety was guaranteed. They mentioned that they were letting the "negotiator" win a cards. It's a detail that's fully explained in the book. The negotiator is a essentially a hostage held by the Corleone family, until Michael returns safely. If anything happens to Michael, they kill the negotiator who's family understands that it's Sollozzo's fault. Then the negotiator's family takes revenge on Sollozzo. Guinea, is an offensive term for an Italian. The reason the bruise lasted so long is that his jaw was broken, and not fixed correctly until he returned from Sicily, Italy. It was a real police badge. Neri had been a cop who became disillusioned with the police and society, and was valued by the Godfather. "The man that played Vito"... is Marlon Brando, one of the most respected actors of all time. If you want to see more of him: A Streetcar Named Desire, On The Waterfront, Last Tango in Paris, Guys and Dolls, Apocalypse Now, Burn,

I'm always impressed how easily casual and first time viewers dismiss Michael's fortitude when he suggests the double assassination of the Turk and McClusky. Perhaps it testifies to a sad lack of knowledge about the American WW2 experience. Michael is established up front as a highly decorated marine corp veteran of the Pacific theater. That means places/battles like Tarawa, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima. Guam. Close range mortal combat and targeted assassination vs an entrenched and fanatic enemy in the harshest conditions possible. A restaurant shooting would be a piece of cake in comparison. Btw that's the unmade Godfather film I'd like to see- Michael vs the Empire Of Japan, his wartime experience.

Guinea being used against Italians especially Sicilians is based on the idea that they have African ancestry which makes them “inferior” to other Europeans. When I first saw it I was confused why Carlo was calling her that name despite himself being Italian. Later I learned that because he’s northern Italian he believes that Sicilians have more black heritage than he and therefore lower on the hierarchy than he is.
