This is why the shock lands were printed with plane-agnostic names... even if it took three Ravnica blocks for them to get printed anywhere else.

I love plane specific lands. Makes sets feel more unique. Even if they are functional reprints, or get functional reprints. It's fun

Plane specific lands are cool, but the best ones are the ones you couldn't just do a functional reprint of. Like how Kaldheim had a cycle of lands showing off all the realms in addition to the intentionally generic snow duals.

Gain lands are so underwhelming in Commander. But in my Trelasarra deck, it's so satisfying to have two mechanically identical lands that fix my mana while also enabling life gain pay-offs.

Yeah unless you're playing a life gain deck, you're almost always better off with the scry/surveil lands. Makes sense those were rare and these are uncommon.

I mean that's not gonna be an issue because there's no way the triomes will see a reprint outside of a Secret Lair or Quadruple Masters or whatever.

I wouldn't say it's a "mistake" so much as an intentional decision. I assume that by now the very first discussion that happens about any new cycle of lands is "how likely are we to print these again in a future standard?" If the answer is "basically never", or "only as a way to juice up the hype for the next time we want to visit this setting", then they'll use the plane-specific naming conventions.
