random genetics challenge... sims occult edition 

Random, but I turned almost everyone in the game into a werewolf via knocking on their door and biting everyone. Eventually it was tedious so I just bit anyone who wasn’t glowering red while at a bar. Almost ALL of the pedestrians are running on all fours in that save and it’s so funny 😭

I wish that there were hybrids for occults, instead of the child being one or the other of the parents.

I love that Mccc has a feature to enable generically passing on skin details to children. It’s a feature that really brings the families to life in my opinion, especially if you have cc skin details that really shape a sim.

About the freckles, I actually used to have freckles as a child and as i grew up, they became less visible and finally disappeared, so I guess that's mildly realistic in some cases?

I think the first daughter actually did take traits from both parents in her wolf form. She took the coat pattern, and eye shape from her wolf mom. Then her vampire parent, she took the eye color and a similar coat color to her skin color.

I think skin details are genetic, at least to a point. My freckled sims have definitely had freckled toddlers, but I did notice that the freckles went away when they aged up (and in one case came back upon teenagedom). I even mentioned it to my partner because I was so excited that I thought they finally patched it - maybe it's not 100%, or maybe I just got really lucky with the randomizer?

You should try editing a wolf without seeing the Sim form. See if you can make them look nirmal lol Wonder how easy/hard it'll be

The randomise button for eyebrows is broken at the moment. Seems like a really weird bug but I bet it's related to werewolves and how they Can have eyebrows but they usually don't.

Before she randomized the werewolf sim, she looked like Simone Ashley, the actress who played Kate in season 2 of Bridgerton.

This made me think back to my seventh grade science class, making randomized babies based on Gregor Mendel’s pea research. We didn’t have the sims yet.

I have a werwolf in my Not so Berry Challenge and he loves cats, so my heir moved in with him and his 4 cats and it's amazing... werwolves who love cats is just adorable in my opinion

When I was doing a 100 kittens challenge the painted fur would pass down some of the time, I wish the same would happen for werewolves so you can pass on intricate designs for legacy gameplay :(

Well, of course the occults have more options for teeth or scars - each occult (here: vampires and werewolves) have their unique options! It's not like you can give vampire fangs to aliens, now THAT would be weird and an oversight, I think

I think these types of experiments are fun to do. I was thinking for werewolves, since they are technically a magical state, that they aren't genetic because werewolf form is tied to the individual rather than their genetics. Also the freckles not being genetic is strange, because I had Sims inherit freckles for three generations before. I wonder if I just got lucky on the randomization.

When you have 2 occults have a kid, the kid will always be the mother's species. It's interesting for the CAS thing though, bc you used 2 female sims and got a werewolf. I wonder if in the case of 2 moms in CAS (bc in game someone would give birth anyway and be the "mom") the species is randomized.

Unnatural hair colours is genetic, however they won’t show that unnatural colour until they are teens. As children,the most unnatural natural colour you can have is that very red red.

I'm surprised how many people don't know you absolutely CAN have hybrid occults in the game without any mods. I mean, 'occult races' are just traits that you can equip with cheats. You can even have them be naturally born (happened to me a couple of times without any hard trying). It's just that they're problematic bc 1) if the occult has a skill tree, you get locked on only one of them, and 2) the occult race icon is gone so it's often hard to tell what they are if they're unplayable + the needs panel is often messed up too. So... you CAN have hybrids. It's just that they're messy because they're not intended to exist lol

Genetics is not necessarily a mix, humans have recessive and dominant traits. The parents combo of recessive and dominate traits change the chances of them showing up. Basic sense: Mom has blue eyes, dad has brown eyes. The odds of the offspring having each eye color is about 50%. The baby won’t have a mix of brown and blue eyes, they will have brown OR blue eyes. Add in recessive traits and this changes things. Genetically dad has a recessive trait for blue eyes, his eyes are brown because that gene dominates over blue. That changes the percentage. Same goes for hair, freckles, dimples, skin color, everything. Same goes for plants, animals, everything. It’s basically a simplification of genetics on the sims end. They won’t be a blend because genetically that’s not how it works. Hope this makes sense and helps!

Speaking of genetics, Hope we’ll see the generations expansion pack that we get the dna/genetics inheritance more properly in the game, and also heights of sims🙏

1:50 The whole "you need to click three times to make it truly random" thing is a myth. I work with software for a living and the randomisation is really not that sophisticated. It doesn't matter how many times you click, it'll run the exact same code. It's not making it "more random" it's just kinda wasting your time

Just so you know if u click on the chains above the Picture on the bottom you can "unlink" the werewolf form with the human form and you can create it seperately (saw it somewhere, not sure, just a tip ^^ )

I mean I had freckles as a little kid and lost them as I grew up. That's not unheard of

All occults as siblings in same house. I want to see how different occults interact with each other. Like will they still hate each other even though they grew up as children together?

for skin details passing down to kids, in my NSB my mint sim had a birthmark on her upper lip and every single one of her descendants has it

I can conform that unnatural colors can be Genetically passed on with werewolves, at least in my game

Every sim that has a second form (Aliens, Mermaids, Vampires, Werewolves) don't take anything from their parents from their second form. It's just randomized besides the linked features

I really like the werewolves pack and I haven't really played with it that much because I just got it dsy before yesterday but it's fun. I've been having my Sim go talk to Greg. lol He's scary and weird and I think afraid of my Sim cause he runs away lol. This is way better than Sims 3 Supernatural Were wolves.

My werewolf couple had triplets and for some reason they didn't look the same in their sim form, but they all had the exact same fur in their werewolf forms. And for some reason the three of them were pitch black when their parents were gray and brown 😀

I believe that I just figured out how the genetics in the Sims 4 works. When you create a sim? I'll use the eyes as an example. Choosing to randomize the eyes and there are only ten choices, the game rolls the dice and gives one of the ten, and same with the other parent. Then, when the parents have children, the game rolls the dice and give one of the two parent's eyes that were chosen when they were created. So, this game can only give the illusion of genetics. When the child gets the mother's or father's eyes, it's even easier for the programming to do this because there's only two sets of eyes to choose from. I'm sorry to burst people's bubble, but there is nothing magical in this game. Major LOL! Its programming is a bunch of letters and numbers designed to give the illusion of life. The programming is just a wheel that is being spun, so a result can be achieved. The challenge has been solved! OMG! Major LOL!

hey kayak, i've been going through a rough time recently and watching you play sims has been a great distraction honestly. i dunno if you'll see this but your videos are great

You also have to realize that Maxis didn't put this much thought into this game when they designed the kitchen cabinets. So, I highly doubt that they put much thought into the genetics. These challenges are giving too much credit to the creators. Maxis and EA Games made millions off this game, and that's all that they truly planned out. OMG! LOL!

I got the werewolf pack specifically for my legacy and thankfully my first kid had the dormant gene and the 2nd was a werewolf and the little "awoooo" when they cry is SO CUTE

I'll keep saying this until someone sees it. You can use the overview randomiser down the bottom to randomise a bunch of other stuff (makeup, voice, tattoos I think, etc.)

I find a better test is to have them be born in game. I find you are more likely to get hybrids and more combos.

Real genetics are also often either/or rather than a blend!

Cas Tip: Your sim moving around too much and being annoying? ' casclockspeed 0 ' makes them stop moving. ' casclockspeed 1' returns them to normal

it's really such a shame hybrids of occult sims are not a thing... i turned newcrest into mystic falls (the vampire diaries) and my klaus sims is a vampire but it would be so much better if he could be a vampire/werewolf hybrid u know......

Genetics in CAS isn’t really good. You have a better chance of seeing the blend of genetics if you have the sim actually have a kid in gameplay. For example; I tried to give sims large ears in cas and none of the kids inherited after randomizing like 10 times …

freckles staying when sims age up should at least be randomized, there are a lot of people who had freckles as a kid that went away as they grew up and them ppl who keep them forever so that would actually be super realistic

You actually don't have to randomize everything or anything. Just pick two ocult sims and make them look different. Another thought is if anyone has done a genetics challenge with regular sims, the result is going to be relatively the same. Except the change will be with the ocult sims. Maxis didn't give the sims a lot of diversity. OMG! LOL! Some of these challenges don't really make any sense. But maybe I'm wrong. I'll see, at the end.

what if you could have a half-alien, half-spell caster, half-werewolf, half-vampire, and half-mermaid if you have a long line of generations

I will say Ive been trying to get rid of the werewolf trait off my teen sim and it's not working he's just forever a werewolf for some reason I tried using cheats and working towards the drink route but it's annoying you can't change their species in CAS

i always wait for the end credit dialogue, today we just vibe with the music though
