Thanks for sharing! I have a rather difficult time recalling childhood memories but listening to yours prompted me in some ways :)

Love for you to read your diary and tell more stories. Glad you enjoyed sixth grade. I know it could be hard sometimes. My school had small lunch tables that only sat six people, so it was real hard finding a place to sit and eat. I also used to rush to class so I could be one of the first to walk in because I hated walking in late when everyone else was sitting and looking at me. I used to bump into people in the halls all the time . I dreaded reading in front of the class. In first grade, I would wet me pants in class rather than ask to use the restroom, and my mom would have to bring dry clothes for me to change. Those are a few of my memories.

It is always interesting to hear stories from people’s lives. Yes I remember the 90’s although I preferred Britpop to the 90’s and I remember in Year 5 me and a friend played the britpop wars as a game. We did human body as well in Year 6. My memories of school was more at Secondary I was a lot more laid back I think that was because of being in Communication Provision (Autism Unit) and because I had support teachers around me all the time that let me get away with practically anything. I would misbehave just to make people laugh and to get a reaction. Year 8 was the best one every Friday afternoon last lesson was in CP class and non of us Autistic student did any work we would get hyperactive me and another boy would get so hyper we would practically take over the lesson.

My memory isnt great. I do sometimes ruminate too much on interactions I have had with people. One situation I had in particular went through my head for a long time and randomly throughout the day it would pop into my head and i would be stuck in a loop thinking through the argument I had and months later it would still occupy my thoughts as I would zone out and in my head as I would relive the event like I was in a trance. I find now I talk to myself in my mind, well not talk to myself, I imagine I am talking to someone else, so I carry out a one way conversation, sometimes practicing what I might say to someone and partly just trying to gather my thoughts on a movie I saw or a chapter of a book I have just read. This helped when I had to do some study, I would imagine I was explaining certain topics to a coworker, this would help me remember stuff and made me realise what I dont understand yet or if I hadnt memrised it well enough, if i couldnt explain it simply in my mind to this imaginary coworker then I needed to do more study. So yeah I am in my head a lot I think.

I do similar stuff in my head! I wonder if this is a commonality autistic people have? I talk aloud when alone as if I am in conversation with someone. It helps me organise my thoughts.

Come to think of it, I enjoyed the 6th grade as well. My homeroom teacher, Mr. Maxile, was great. He allowed me to skip the class art assignments and do whatever art project I wanted. Another teacher, Mrs. Perry often read stories from Greek mythology. You could actively listen, lay your head down, close your eyes and listen, even nap if you wanted. She was awesome. Junior High (7&8) began a downward trajectory, and high school (9-12) was a horror show! I’d much rather hear your positive memories. We all have plenty of negative memories. Please don’t think me rude or that I don’t care, it’s not that at all. I think it would make me kinda sad.

Thanks for sharing :) In the USA , what age range is 6th grade? In the UK, year 6 is age 10-11 - I think the categories are a bit different? Yeah, age 11 plus was where it went downhill for me. I will try and include as many positive memories as possible.

@@welcome12ization I was 11 at the beginning of 6th grade and 12 by the end. So yeah, a little different. We have grade 1-12 and I was 18 when I graduated 12. Things were much better after that!
