great tutorial. used it at work for asignmet prioritisation. Now I wonder if there is a way to check if value already exists in the same column to make the following randoms not repeating. or repeating but a controllable number of times. I really appreciate all kinds of ideas.
You probably mean Indirect("A"&*your rand function*) The issue with this is if you add columns or rows before the range it will not adjust the A or row position.
One way to do manual calculations in Google sheets is to set calculations to update on open. Then you can refresh. But this is far from the ideal manual Excel calculation.
Hmm.. now that I wrote this I wonder apps script allows us to change the calculation mode. If it does maybe we could create a checkbox that sets it to reload when unchecked and to automatic when checked..
If you gonna do a script, it might be just easier to just generate the random number using the script // Returns a random integer from 0 to 9: const randomNumber = Math.floor(Math.random() * 10);
Is there a way you can lock a selection? I took the if formula combined with it but for each row I would like the system to not update the already filled in cells. =if(regexmatch(F12,"Growth"),Index('Input x'!$A$2:$A$3,RANDBETWEEN(1,Counta('Input x'!$A$2,'Input x'!$A$3))))
