I had the toy and it was stolen from me as a child. I built the plastic model in the mid 1980s and went to town with it, you just can’t make it look shitty, I was using a lighter to add smoke and highlights in the details and it worked very well and dry brushed with silver and other paints. I didn’t have any training and I didn’t read any books or magazines on model building so I had to figure out what worked back then before the internet. All these model building videos makes me want to get back into scale model building.
I’m doing the Legacy Falcon. I couldn’t afford the Dagostini Falcon. :( but still I feel blessed. I did my landing gear kinda like yours! I love how you added that obscure “lost part” in front of the top cannon. I would LOVE to see how you engineered the magnetic parts!!! SO TALENTED, and BEAUTIFUL. Well done Sir!
randall cooper was No sir. It’s my understanding that the rectangular part immediately below the top quad cannons, in the front went missing before all the archived pics of the original ILM Falcon were taken. As a result most people leave that part out when their building their Falcon... they also usually leave out the wash splatter specs, since it doesn’t show up in any of the original photography. I think I’m gonna crack, and get a dagostini subscription. I can’t take it anymore....
You have done an amazing job at modifying this toy to look how it does now for the detailing, paint work and lighting is fantastic and you truly are a master of your craft.
Truly amazing what you've done with this one... I think it's the best weathering job I've seen including the original. I regret having thrown one out long ago, before the advent of LED's. I think it's spelled Hasbro but doesn't matter, nice work, Randall.
My following question is not to cast shade on this fine model. Why is it that just about every depiction of this ship, has the weathering as if it's flying through space dorsal or ventral side first? If the Falcon is flying through space, in the direction the mandibles are facing, wouldn't the streaking be from front to back or bow to stern? I quess an argument could be made that the ship is running with with force fields in space which wouldn't allow for space debris induced streaking. If this is the case, that would mean that any streaking would be from when it's parked planet side. Again, my question is not meant to call out flaws, just a curiosity.
The thing to remember, it's all about sci fi fantasy fun.. NOT lot logic. You know the Falcon couldn't work in the real world. Leave logic at the door before entering.
@@randallcooper3559 you're right, it's just how my former electronic tech brain is wired. I find myself trying to apply real world physics to my favorite sci-fi vehicles.... I'm weird like that.
No. It's the vinyl toy sold at walmart and amazon. www.amazon.com/Disneys-Rebels-Millennium-Vehicle-Hasbro/dp/B00NQRBWCE/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=hasbro+millennium+falcon&qid=1577909932&sr=8-11
