He seems so cool now. He was pretty intense when he was a player. But I've seen other interviews with him and he's super cool. He's also a very, very good photographer now.
If Shohei Ohtani vs. Aaron Judge tied the WS2024 series with 3-3 leading up to game 7. Let's not speculate that the Dodgers is going to put Shohei Ohtani on the mound to strike Judge, Soto, and Stanton to seal the game to win the WS2024 as he did to Trout at WBC 2023. Shohei would end up being the greatest player in a single reg/post-season with the Dodgers for ages against the Yankees.
He was very intimidating on the mound. big 6-10 dude with a slider coming in on right handers and a fastball thrown at an angle that made the ball look like it was travelling across your body to get to the plate.
It's hard to explain to someone new to baseball how this chill old guy was one of the scariest pitchers in baseball history. Unfortunate bird would agree, R.I.P.
People always bring up HBP but honestly 90% of the time those guys aren’t hitting people on purpose. Randy Johnson didn’t have to intentionally hit people to intimidate anyone. Just looking at him was enough. He and Nolan Ryan were power pitchers. Pitches get away when you’re throwing that hard.
so humble saying he'd be nothing special today...i disagree...he'd still be striking out 300+ with sub-3 era in this era where pitching 200 innings is a feat.
Ol Dem dan patrick had a good old time with Penn State coach James Franklin back in January of 2014. I wonder if it will come up anytime soon. Seemsol Dem dan patrick keeps some suspicious company over the years.
It is seriously beyond baffling how Nolan never won a Cy Young. When you look at his 5 best seasons, they are as good or better than many who have multiple Cy Young's. He lost to a reliever once who's name is lost to time. The voters must have had some grudge against him.
Ryan is one of only three pitchers in history with 480 or more Quality Starts. (At 35 starts per year, this is almost 14 seasons worth of starts) He had 481 Quality Starts and in those starts, his ERA was 1.61 When he was on, he was ON.
