One of the best stories in modern racing and there's a lot of good ones.
@redarmysoja

This is just one of many similar stories in racing. It's an expensive sport. I used to crew a short track stock car that was unknowingly funded by the local grocery chain. The driver/owner of the car was manager of their warehouse and paid for most of the parts and assorted cost of his stock car with their bank account. They never found out.

Back in the 80's there was nearly as much weed money as there was tobacco money in motorsports. At the time IMSA was called the International Marijuana Smugglers Association. Don and Bill Whittington won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979 after buying a Porsche 935 with a "duffel bag of cash" and bribing a race official so they could remove the flow limiter on the fueling rig. Also they used the back strait of Road Atlanta as a makeshift runway to smuggle in Marijuana and Cocaine. They also raced in Cart/IndyCar with multiple Indy 500 starts for both, IMSA, NASCAR Winston Cup, and even the International Race of Champions/IROC.

the most incredible movie in the making!!!! cannot wait to see this, and read the book... what a life, what a adventure. I can just about picture this movie as a cross between - 48 hours, Castaway, & Shawshank Redemption. such a fascinating story of lemans, indy, daytona, sebring, imsa, indycar, sportscar, cigarette boats, tug boats, and barges.175 tons of weed off shore for 6 months!! he's a daily pot smoker to this day, remarried to his substance abuse treatment center assistant director wife of thirty years..!! now he is licensed to grow legal weed in new jersey and will use profits to advocate for prisoners still locked up for non violent weed offence's...OMG THIS PODCAST "TWO PARTS" WAS THE BEST DIRTY MOE HAS RODUCED SO FAR... Mathew Dillner out did himself on the intro montage.. a slice of his creativity with the soundbites from various pickle topics. lol Mathew we will be with you on your journey, and you will always have a home with the family you have created here.. so good luck and well wishes. cant wait for the racing roots revival 6 part podcast to start at wilkesboro for the c.a.r.s. tour driver's spotlight..

My old coach used to rent a fishing boat that we would go out on and fish, then we would come in with “extra” boats. I didn’t know at the time what was going on but my coach didn’t fish, he spent the whole time with binoculars looking around. I found out later he would go out at night and unload. He got paid $10k a night. He would hide clothes a few blocks away and go in a jumpsuit, so if there was a problem, ie cops, he had a way to run and change then walk away. This was before GPS by the way. They didn’t track boats like they do today. This was in Ft Lauderdale, Fl btw

I'm from Cannabis Canada. We finally grew up and treated cannabis like alcohol. Legal and regulated. We've been legal for years now, and there's no social problems. In fact, imagine all the money we save from the court system not having to prosecute people for a drug that is less destructive than alcohol. America, how did Prohibition work out for y'all? Well, it was terrible for most people... it created organized crime and people died from poisoned alcohol. The only good thing to come out of Prohibition was the moonshine runners. Guys like Junior Johnson. Prohibition created Nascar, so I guess it wasn't all that bad. Come man, legalize it America. Nationwide. Oh, and mushrooms for depression... Johns Hopkins University is gathering clinical evidence to prove it is effective and safe. I don't trust Big Pharma. But I sure do believe in mother nature and her healing powers. Ask your doctor if mushrooms are right for you.

Only Satans seed would encarcarate a man for life for being in possession or even in distribution of a herb that our heavenly Father created for us All . My wish would be I could live to see the day when I can walk around my Fathers creation and look up and only see his beautiful waters above and jets planes leaving plumes of cannabis seeds instead of plumes of Barium Aluminum strontium 90 , and lithium. I'm sick of ha'satans oil sleeks in my fathers sky and the citizens of his creation being imprisoned because satans seed think they can . And because we The children of the living God YHVH do not object sitting on pews waiting on a rapture mean while Ha'satan and his seed is having they're way with us ! Armor up stand up and OBJECT to this Abomination!! How many children are going to have be buried how many GOOD law enforcement have to die , for only the good ones get shot , how many lives destroyed over malicious prosecution , In the Kienites war on Drugs while big Pharma has the full court press on attempting to force their poison down your throat and now your children's throats.. Saw his story on Bad Sport. Thoroughly unimpressed. He was approached by Ford his rookie year and could have gone legit but NO. The fact that he was moving literal tons of weed and had a short enough sentence to be out today while black men are still serving life sentences from mandatory minimums from that era for dime bags of (whatever) is absolutely disgusting. Im not so sure we should be giving guys like this a platform.

Bill and Hillary Clinton's Super Predator laws. They are the ones who kept black people in prison for years and years.

And the lack of empathy and refusal to listen to those around you without already having your retort loaded is a big reason why Alex Jones finds himself in the situation he's in. Coming up with off the wall attempts to redirect a conversation turned out to not be as fun as you think it is 🤷‍♂️

This was by far the worst episode of the DJD. Very little to do with racing and all to do this burnout’s tall tales of how he broke the law. More of the same next week. I won’t be listening.

27 years is a long time. Please give me an actual name of someone who has served longer than that for just selling a dime bag. Your view of the world is just not factual and is causing you great anxiety.

@@bovineknievel410 So 'three strikes' is not a factual historic occurrence in American law? People would be caught with dime bags as a third strike and a life sentence would be a result. Its like saying someone died of COVID but they were geriatric with comorbitities. The disproportiate sentences for crack vs cocaine must have been a fever dream that only shattered the family structure in one community over another...

I listened to the full podcast on Spotify, and have to say while it is an interesting story - you could have avoided the agony of 27 years in incarceration. It isn't "I got a life sentence for a cannabis charge", at the time (still is a federal charge) illegal. Just sayin'. Because you were talking about everything we need is within ourselves ( intentions from the heart - law of attraction ), so we need to also live within the law. Don't like the law, change the law. Great interview/podcast with great questions, and worth listening to the whole thing.
