I can't 'thumbs up' the commend because I am a Vikings fan, but I agree that the Eagles had some very memorable players at this time. That's back when the NFL was better, IMM.
They faced later on in the year during the divisional round when Freddie Mitchell had another lucky big playoff catch vs the nfc north lol 4th and 26 still makes my blood boil
Right after this game, Hank Azaria was being interviewed by Rich Eisen on Total Access and Azaria did play-by-play of the TO touchdown in various Simpsons voices. I've been looking for that clip for 18 years to no avail.
Smithers, who is that galloping quarterback? Donovan McNabb, sir. McNabb, eh? Well, he's just scored a touchdown! I will be watching him all year with great interest.
There's a great NFL Films clip of Randy talking to Daunte on the sidelines, talking about how much he likes that young, relatively unknown RB named Brian Westbrook. "Westbrook's sweet, dawg. I like Westbrook. He sweet."
My mom recorded this game on tape for me because I was young and needed to go to bed. Was thinking last night how I never watched it. Now there is a 20 min RU-vid video this morning. The internet is wild.
Funny how Madden said @ 5:38 TO wouldn't be eating like that and looking like that in 10 years. News flash it's been almost 20 years since this comment and TO's still eating like that and looking that lol. #RIPJOHNMADDENTRUENFLLEGEND
Ooo. Just got a hot dose of nostalgia for the 00-04 Eagles. Summer of 04 the hype for the Eagles was electric. It was almost as if they had already won the super bowl. It was a forgone conclusion. The party had already started. 2017 feels almost hollow compared to what 2004 would have been had they done it. 2017 came outta nowhere. Nobody expected the Eagles to be that good, especially after Wentz went down. The 04 Eagles had been building for years steadily getting closer till they hit a wall that their #2 WRs couldn't get them over. In comes TO. The best in the game at that point in time. Added to probably they most talented roster in the NFL. With a dangerously bold coach in a pass happy offense. It was football heaven I can only hope to experience again one day. That opening day vs the giants and the bomb to TO. *chefs kiss.
I remember watching this game… lifelong eagles fan born in 96. Watched countless games with my dad, we both loved #5. I was 7/8 years old watching games with him, still do it today. Just wish time would slow down. Our spirit for the Birds run through our veins. Go birds.
Man I will never forget this night. As a Vikings fan from Philly, I was hyping this game the whole day lol. Talkin all this shit at school and to my dad and mom. Pop’s took us to this cheesesteak place and we got cheesesteaks with fries and wings. All sat and watched this lol, we got our ass bussed but it was such a great time
Remember watching this game live on my Dads buddies huge ass projection Sony lol. Was a freshman in high school, as a Birds Fan this is my all time favorite Eagle Team. Most fun season as a fan, the hype with TO was real.
Great upload. I still remember taking the bus to high school in California on this day and seeing two other students who I'm guessing were friends wearing a Randy Moss and Donovan McNabb jersey. Even though 2004 sucked for the NFC, I liked both matchups between the Vikings/Eagles that year. Vikings struggled like crazy in the redzone during this showdown, and that Culpepper fumble near halftime must have been a gut-punch for Vikings fans. BTW, shoutout to Vikings guard David Dixon. That guy was maybe the biggest guard I've ever seen and quietly become an anchor on the Vikings offensive line for a decade with 2004 being his final season. Just a goliath of a gatekeeper.
@@mariosnum1fan The AFC did win the Super Bowl that year. The Vikings weren't very good in 2004, especially on defense. The NFC was so mediocre that they simply couldn't be eliminated from playoff contention along with the Rams.
@@astrostar49 I think some teams were better than their record stated. All the playoff teams aside from Philly and Atlanta should’ve snagged at least 2 more wins
@@mariosnum1fan Rams were actually worse than their 8-8 record. By advanced metrics like DVOA they're one of the worst teams to make the postseason. Really the NFC only had one top dog that could go all the way that season which were the Eagles. That being said, 2004 was one of my favorite seasons ever.
Gaaaahhhd… I remember this man. My first year I played football and was obsessed with T.O and Randy moss. Culpepper and mcnabb too. Lord I miss these days
Throwback game requests for this week: Ravens/Patriots: 2014 AFC Divisional Playoffs Steelers/Browns 1986 Week 12 (37-31) Bills/Dolphins 2004 Week 13 (42-32) Raiders/Titans 2002 AFC Championship Game
Mahomes is way better than Culpepper you can't compare the two, Mahomes has a championship Culpepper does not also his career was over injuring is Ligaments with Minnesota
Eagles vs. Vikings watching in my dorm room baked AF listening to John Madden commentary ordering Chinese delivery cracking some cheap beer with all my friends. Monday Night Football just doesn't hit the same these days
I love how people claim Moss never went up the middle and yet his first three catches this game was in the middle. I swear Moss haters have no idea what they be talking about
I loved Daunte Culpepper, he had a ton of potential. A real shame his hands were small which no doubt contributed to his fumbling problems. His injury in 2005 really ruined his career.
BTW I don't know if it's too late in the pipeline, but since the 49ers and Broncos will square up on SNF, there are a few interesting historic options to spotlight (other than Super Bowl 24 which you already did). 1985 MNF 49ers at Broncos where Montana and Elway dueled for the first time (snowball game). Another good one is 1997 Broncos at 49ers on MNF with two powerhouse squads duking it out at Candlestick. Final one off the top of my head is the 1988 Broncos at 49ers game in which the wind played a huge factor. Don't know if the audio rights issues for those two MNF games would be a hurdle, but just wanted to put some suggestions out there if it isn't too late. As always, cheers boss.
Check out this open field tackle by Sheldon Brown @17:12. You don't see that anymore watching today's defense. Nowadays that same play would have been a TD, along w several whiffed tackles.
I know it's a diffrent game but seeing hollis Thomas reminded me of that hit he put on Vick when Vick was on falcons and they were down inside the 15yrd line and Thomas put a serious hit on vick
