Totally agree. Rhoads and Angus made me pick up playing at 13 and always favored the sound of Rhoads over EVH but not the Quiet Riot years. With Ozzy he unleashed with beast and was finally finding his mojo. When I first heard those Quiet Riot albums I was majorly disappointed. I think I listened to them once and that was enough. I never liked Kevin's vocals but even the guitar playing wasn't anything to write home about. If there was a competition back in the day between who you like more, Van Halen or Quiet Riot, I would've taken VH any day. That ain't the case with the Ozzy material.

What a glorious channel this is! There's lots of love here and understandably so. I have an infinite and deep respect and appreciation for Randy, not just for the exceptional guitarist he was but also for the type of person he was too, I refer to him as the angelic guitarist, a genuine, gentle and kind soul that could play guitar extraordinary way, naturally. I'm genuinely moved by the comments everyone has made below, Randy himself would be touched by the love, respect and appreciation he is receiving I'm sure. What an incredible and beautiful way to leave your mark in this life, very typical of the man and guitarist that is Mr Randall William Rhoads! Amen. NA1974🇬🇧.

QR 1 & 2 aren't really that good. Even Kevin said so on many occasions. Randy wasn't in the right element to really unleash his talent.

Whats interesting is how Randy indirectly gave Quiet Riot their 2nd incarnation. Rudy came back to LA and said "Kevin shut the fuck up, we're doing it my way this time!" And Rudy was able to bring that heavier sound he played w/ Randy & ozzy back to QR and then they took over the world in spite of DuBrows abrasive personality and gargantuan ego!!! 6 million copies sold in 1983 folks! Not many bands can make that claim in any year or genre! Metal Health was a social phenomenon!! I was there for it!! I was 12, but i loved that fucking album. Wanted the mask..

UCLA bound to get his masters degree in classical guitar. He really did hate being a rock star & oz couldn't understand it & thought Randy was an ungrateful bastard & punched him for it. Randy doesnt harbor any malice towards oz & Sharon though. "I still love them both." RR re Oz & Sharon 2019

I've had that Randy Rhoads years album on cassette for a few decades now and it sounds fairly good.a few times over the years i thought it was a bootleg re-release of some sort so to get clarification straight from garni who got the info straight from dubrow that it is ''official'' finally eases my mind as to what is in my collection.So ty for that.Too bad it wasn't mentioned on the qr doc.from 2010...i can understand why it wasn't...but it does kind of deserve some attention.And now that it got it here makes me happy.But the gun incident was mentioned in the 2010 doc. and to finally put that baby to bed makes me feel better lmfao...Will there be a part 3 to this interview?

With all respect the QR songs are very not good. They are so not good that when RR left us at 25 yo, and there were 2 full albums of RR to consume post-mortem...nobody did. I had a huge unsatisfied appetite for all things RR and it was just impossible to go backwards to his QR material. It sucks. To think they found zero merit in Ozzy era Black Sabbath is telling. I guarantee that Bob Daisley was the driving force snapping RR into World Class shape on such short order. Without Bob and Ozzy I'm not sure Randy would have made much more of himself than Ratt/Wasp level success. He may even have been more overlooked than a band like Riot.
@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle
@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle 2 года назад
the first two albums were not really Randy albums, he wrote the music but he was not writing what he truly wanted as the label and producer were telling them what kind of songs to come up with, it was sad. But of course. people can hear the raw talent. But with Quiet Riot , they covered the song Afterglow and this started a pattern for Randy which really came through on the Sabbath songs, his knowledge and talent allowed him to make other songs much better. Of course he was a monster riff writer himself and that came out on the blizzard of ozz albums
@Explorer766
@Explorer766 2 года назад
@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle Hmmm. The record label can only say "we want hits" in one form or another. I love hits. They are usually superior songs in comparisons to B sides and deep catalog. Exceptions of course. But I don't see how this common pressure coming from a label persuaded Randy to bat zero in trying to write a good song. His mom hated Quiet Riot to her dying day. When Randy did a one off Reunion show in 1981 with QR it's weird to see him up there playing such bad music AFTER doing the 2 Ozzy albums.
@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle
@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle 2 года назад
@@Explorer766 they can reject ideas and songs right? they could tell them what sort of songs they wanted, and how they should sound. He did not bat zero, a lot of those songs are really good, but relative to the Blizzard of ozz songs. I mean those are on a different level. he write lots of good songs with Quiet Riot. She thought those albums did not capture his talent and was right, but that does not mean it is not replete good ideas and songs, just not up to his ability. We also know he used a lot of those ideas and infused them into many of the blizzard of ozz band songs. So clearly he was writing good stuff. He was there to have fun at the reunion.

I don't have a direct answer but on the Bob Daisley interview I just heard, he said that on the intitial stage they had talked about splitting the 12% the Blizzard Band would get (company taking the rest) in 4 in a way that each member would get 2% exept John/Ossie who would get 6%, because of being recognizable/having a name, but that the deal would change for each album. Obviously the sails would skyrocket after Randy's death and 2 stellar albums with Jake E. Lee, MTV exposure etc. I should buy Bob's "For facts sake".

Likewise with Van Halen, I never cared for Roth and Hagar either, but if I had to choose between the two, I would've been a bigger VH fan over Quiet Riot. That's not the case with Ozzy though. Rhoads with Angus are the two players responsible for me picking up the guitar. Those Ozzy records are blistering. Songs like I Don't Know, Believer, S.A.T.O etc..made me a fan instantly. I was even buying crappy VHS tapes in the 90's that had any footage of Randy available, the best being the After Hour sessions. Every other show I had that captured Randy was practically unwatchable. I finally got copies of those QR albums and was disappointed. You can tell it is Rhoads by the playing but you can tell it was watered down and nothing like what he would later unleash with Ozzy.
