He is something!!! That baby smooth velvet voice, he was born in West Virginia ,then in his mid 20,s he moved to Colorado, for 16 years, then he moved to Seattle Washington, where he died of cancer in 2004, we really miss him a true earth angel 😥😥😥👼👼👼👼👏👏👏🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I'm from West Virginia so I had to go and check Randy up online and it says that he was born in Indian Hills, Co in 1955 and not West Virginia. He did move to Seattle, Washington and died at only 48 years old on January 12, 2004 is correct.
Ahhh the summer of 1978!. Remember it well. It debuted that year. Played in all of 1979. Those days months years will never be back again, a time era never to return again. Glad I lived it.
Released in February 1979, this was my song for about two months. My first ever girlfriend dumped me in April of that year. I thought my romantic life was over forever after Elizabeth.
There is a lightness, a deep and harmonious feeling in the song and in the singer... why are the songs of today (I write in August 2022) not like that anymore? What is happening to us humans? Does the world really turn around and will we have it all over again?
@@amparomarreros4456 Yep. The year I graduated from high school, 1979. I remember this song from way back then. I've always loved it. Actually, it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard and the most beautiful voice, too.
Can honestly say I have lived this song more than once... who would've thought hearing it at 15 it would be a theme of my early relationships... quite ironic
@@JLopez-xv1pe I doubt if there's a human being on this planet who hasn't had at least one...."Just when I needed you most" ... person in their life. A sad, but very beautiful song.
Nothing can connect with the soul deeper than a hauntingly beautiful melody, and this one has what it takes. Thank you Randy, for leaving this as your legacy. Sorry you could not have lived a full life. 😢
Since sharing this classic on You Tube my good mate Joe Palmer (playing the auto harp here) has moved back to the UK but we speak often, and I am in touch with Ron, Randys brother occasionally. I apologize for the raw quality but this was a rip from an old VHS tape that Joe found among his old collection in a store room.
Mick Masters Thanks so much for sharing this hauntingly beautiful piece. I vividly remember when I first heard it as a young girl . I think it was paired with the movie 'Watership Down' when it was released around 79-80 & although I didn't see the movie, I instead read the novel, written by Richard Adams. I was deeply moved by both the novel & this song then & am equally as moved when I hear the song now. Funny how some sensations attached to memories can be seared into our being, such that they affect us strongly even after many decades. Such a sweet, angelic voice, thankyou for the special gift you left us Randy.
Thanku for this video! it’s more realistic and more beautiful both of them breathing same time so perfect !!!,I treasure this video more than earlier ine, my heartfelt Thanku again !!! Love the way he sings and the voice to go wt it 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘💗💗💗💗💗💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
Fact, Randy went to the top School In Looe Cornwall with his younger brother Ronnie. His Mum always had the front room full of young lads having fun. He was a genuinely funny and remarkable chap. We ate toast with cinnamon powder on it and I still do to this day. Thanks Randy...
One of my favorite ballads. Randy had such a beautiful voice. So sad that he died at the young age of 48. RIP, Randy and thanks for this beautiful song.
@@tuxitalk4-tuxipolitixpage772 He passed in 2004 from Leukaemia. A tragic loss to the music industry. If you love this, check his performance at the Bluebird "I'm in a Hurry". AWESOME!
GOD !!!!!!!!!!! "WHY" can't we live forever ? These kinds of writers/singers touch all of us in one way or another, and can you just imagine the songs Randy would have continued to write ? Gives me chills when I hear him and his songs and I play them often when I'm performing. RIP Randy hope they have the net in Heaven where you can read how much we "ALL" love and miss you
THIS SONG SO TAKES YOU DOWN MEMORY LANE! A VERY EMOTIONAL SONG BUT SO MANY OF US HAS LIVED THE PAIN FROM SOMEONE LEAVING US JUST WHEN WE NEEDED THEM MOST! RIP MY RANDY!💜🙏
This, aspiring songwriting boys and girls, is how you write! You touch on emotions everyone has felt and tap into that. This is a perfectly written song. God blessed Randy with such talent! RIP, Randy!
Hey James.. You hit the nail on the head with your comment. I'm a long time singer/writer as well and I've always gravitated to this type of writer as well as Jim Croce ( Time in a bottle ) and the band Bread. Been a fan of Randy's since the beginning as I'm sure you have too cause you've got a great ear/mind to know perfection when you hear it. Cheers from British Columbia Canada. Tim
Listening from Brazil in May 2023, reminds me my childhood! Never forgotten song and never forgotten era! Pauing attention to the lyrics, i can now realize it was composed not for a lover but for a father! Am I correct? Regards from Brazil 🇧🇷
Underrated, he had other songs that were just as good...beautiful. .brings a tear to my eye when I hear this song, great memories growing up and crying over chicks...lol...
🎸WOW, 🎢I'd about forgotten this beautiful.minded musician, we all lost DO Young. Thank you Jesus for allowing me to recall this moment in time RIP Darling Randy V.🎸💜🎸
This song will live on forever in my heart and in those who hearts it touched. This song was a time and place for those of us, and most of all for Randy Vanwarmer.
I love this old classic song including the melody/music, even though it was about heartbreak... it reminds me of my first true love... "coz you, left me, Just When I Needed You Most"... powerful and heartfelt touching lyrics... worth, lesson learned...
The first time I heard this song was in the 1981 movie, "Private Lessons". I got the soundtrack just for this song. The song fits perfectly in this boy's coming-of-age drama/fantasy. BTW, Earth Wind & Fire's "Fantasy" is there too. ❤ When I was old enough I got a job as a chauffeur. Good times. 🤵🏻
A great, wonderful live performance by Randy. Thx so much. Was mesmerized the first time I heard this song in '78. An evergreen...... brings back so much memories. It's now July 2023 & this song sounds as new & lovely as its debut in '78. RIP, God bless. Randy.
