CF, if you have any connections whatsoever with Rane, Denon, Numark, etc. PLEASE let them know we need their version of Vestax's now-legendary Controller 1 turntable with notation controls. Reloop tried it with their notation turntable but the torque power isn't there so the notation controller response time sounds slurred and isn't nearly as instant or tight as the Controller 1s were when it comes to TT notation playing. So please let them know that turntablists would kill for some new C-1 type turntables.
These should be clubs as the standards!! Why are we worshiping CDJ’s and DJM 900 mixer. Yes they are familiar but if that’s the case why even invent any other mixer or player if we are just gonna use the same thing??
For me the next step in the evolution of digital Dj-ing surely has to be a mixer with the software built in and Wi-Fi connectivity? Teamed up with these that would be the ultimate setup! No more laptop. All the benefits of modern tech but with that original 12" moving platter experience.
I've been saying the same thing for about 13 years. I have never used a Laptop to DJ. The Raine 12 is almost perfect except you still need a bulky, unstable Laptop and it needs a 4% pitch for House and Techno. I can't tell you how many times I've been at events and someones Laptop crashes or their battery dies ect. I love the 12" platter and Rane makes solid products, I still use the Rane Empath Rotary mixer, however I opted for the Denon 6000M because it has way more options and it takes SD cards, USB 3.0 Thumb drives, and a Terabyte drive so you can have your full collection inside without the risky, annoying laptop 😎 I just wish the Denon had a larger platter.... my 35 year quest for the perfect set up continues.....
I got them a couple of weeks ago, best thing i ever bought. I use them with Serato and Rekorbox . I notice my beat juggles are more on time then when i was using my turntable. but it is maybe because my turntables are 20 years old and need some work on them ,lol but it is a great purchase.
If you're not invested in vinyl and looking for a turntable like setup without the maintenance of cartridges/needles etc these need to be on your shopping list, the build quality is excellent & I they just work out of the box.
Not good enough, not be a standalone turntable (no connection to a computer) with a display, SD or USB slots installed to load songs to the unit. A true independent unit that be hookup to a Amp or mixer without a computer.
that is my view as well, I think I'm going to go for them shortly but can't help thinking how much i'd love a USB stick input using the basic little screen they've put on the mk2 to do non PC spontaneous stick mixing, that would be such a great addition.
i have two and im glad i did not get the first version because the mk2s are a great upgrade.I do not play on them enough because where i am there is a limited amount of time i get to spend on them .If i had my way i would be practicing all day everyday
I currently use Traktor 3 using PLX1000's with Phase DJ - my question is what would technically be more accurate? the Phase or the Rane 12 ? I'm curious 🤔
I have a pair of these twelves had nothing but trouble with these things can’t hold pitch and quartz lock both decks don’t run in sync had these for a few years now give up mixing because of being lumbered with these .
Crossfader I would be quite happy for you to review my rane twelves for review . Still brandnew I’m in London but would drop them of before I break em please help
Can I just buy one of these first and pair it with Serato through MacBook Pro 2021 just to start practicing? Or must I have a mixer first- starting day one?
Question about the "no beat drift, as it's a controller". That is the one drawback I've heard about these. I keep hearing about beat drift with these. Only thing holding me back, as they sound like the perfect solution for me. Do they really drift or not? They seem to, based on user input.
It's possible to use a RANE Twelve MKII as a third deck on an old Pioneer DDJ-T1 using the DVS signal in the controller and the USB directly in the computer?
I have a Traktor S4 Mk3 with Traktor pro 3.6 on my computer. so if I connected it would it still have the screen with the BPM or would it be just like DJing with vinyl?

Now with the One controller release, I hope they next add a Seven... a smaller Twelve Mk2 with a few minor updates, like a button for loading a track to the prepare crate(with shift function of opening and closing the prepare tab), and the stip time control on the One, etc...
@@jayq7463 , yes, for the price, this is functionally a spinning jogwheel with not a lot of other control or functionality... I get that some people want the full 12" vinyl feel, but I would think that there may be a nice market for something in the 7"-10" range...and it could be more compact...if they use the platters and components that make the ONE controller, to make "decks" there'd be room to offer a handful of other Serato controls the Twelve don't have... and still be more compact that the Twelve is... Just my thinking, coming from someone who doesn't necessarily need the full 12" platter, but WOULD enjoy spinning platter decks ( contemplating a pair of Denon decks) , Decks as opposed to the ONE controller gives some flexibility and modularity to the setup, depending on the event, there's just a few small issues with the ONE that keeps me from being able to use that... if it was offered with a more fully featured 4ch mixer section that would be nearly perfect for my uses... I frequently need 2 mics, 2 decks, and at least one other audio input source to mix with... etc... So in short, yes....smaller platters for a pair of decks would be awesome for SOME people. ...
Some DJ's just prefer how Serato reacts with a DVS signal, personally I couldn't tell too much of a difference but that said I'm more used to using Serato with controllers than I am using Serato with a DVS signal. The great thing about the MK2 however is that you can do both, so find what suits you best :)
I leaned this trick with Technics back in the 90's Rave scene. While in 33RPM mode, simply hold that button down and "tap" the 45RPM button. It briefly speeds up the BPM when your incoming track is slightly behind. If you the new track you are bringing in is slightly ahead, you can lightly brush the side of the platter with a finger or pinch the platter Pin. 😎
@@Crossfader can the controller part be midi mapped with rekordbox to retain that functionality. Or are you locked out of the “hybrid mode” if you are a RB user?
Guys , do you think Rane12mk2 would work with Numark NS7III conected via USB to the spare screen port? Would love to add it to my setup, however cant find any info.
Hi! Great review! My question is, if you need a mixer with usb integrated or with a non integrated usb the twelve will work in internal mode controling the 4 decks? Thanks a lot!
The Twelve will work in internal mode which ever way you connect it to your PC. Even if your mixer doesn't include a hub, you can connect these directly and it will be fine. You will however need a mixer or interface capable of outputing four channels to control all four decks. Hope this helps!
