Leaving behind all the crowd, chaos and noises of town Darjeeling aside, a few miles away rests the small yet beautiful, calm hamlet RANGAROON. A walk across the lush green tea gardens offers an excellent view of the little town Darjeeling and heavenly Mt. Kanchenjunga guarding against all odds. The evergreen valley of Rangaroon, covered with tall coniferous trees, is home to infinite endangered spices, varieties of flora and fauna, colourful butterflies, and rare birds.
We set off for Rangaroon from NJP on a share car up to Jorebungalow. Then from there we went off in the car, arranged by our homestay fellow. The car took us through the Senchal forests amidst nature till we finally reached our destination in 20 mins. We halted at “Nilam Homestay” under Bishen Ji. Our homestay allotted us bedroom with an amazing view. The room led us to a common balcony, small tea tables along with the panoramic view of the Kanchenjunga & the “Queen of Hills”. Nilam homestay is a perfect setup for nature lovers like us.
Rangaroon is not only a beautiful village but it will win hearts. The people there are so welcoming and endearing that you would feel no less loved. The calmness, cleanliness and the spectacular sights are worth living for. Hence to escape the hustle, it is a highly recommendable destination in the lap of wonders.
