Story is set in South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The action you asked (cracking knuckles on the side of the head) is done by elders generally grandmothers or mothers to ward off bad energy. For eg if a someone sees a cute kid they will run the hands on the kid's face and th3n crack the knuckles. To ward off bad/negative energy from the kid. This in my experience is predominantly practiced in southern India.

This is the film directed my sukumar, who is the same director of pushpa. There is a lot of subtexts in this film. You will be blown away for the climax for sure!

The Gesture you're asking about is called "Nazar Na Lage" in hindi, which means "May god protect you from evil eyes". It is good wishes, especially towards kids or young people, to protect them from people who envy about their appearance, deeds or wealth. Generally speaking. Its a broader concept tbh. Mostly movies show Moms do it towards their kid.

That palm gesture is just showing how much love you have towards that person. When it sounds more then you have that much love on that person. Just some old belief . But here that hero is imagining heroine in mind and doing that palm gesture. And BTW she was taking bath. As this was happening in some back dated according to story in the movie. Villagers don't have proper basic requirements. So they do prepare walls with those leaves and they take bath .

The physical gesture that Jaby referred to is linked to Nazar ( Evil Eye ) in south india. It's a belief that when you crack your knuckles against your temples you are relieving the other person of Nazar. It's also believed that the more your knuckles crack, the more evil eye that person was affected by. More commonly practiced in Villages, but done by elders in cities too.

The classic way is that "They do that and they press their knucles to their temple and pop their fingers!" Basically the action of cracking knuckles over the head is to done to ward off the evil eye. The cracks indicate the amount of evil. Once cracked the evil / Drishti is gone.

- The film is from Tollywood, set in Andhrapradesh, located in the Southern part of India. - The second guy who came to meet them and gave money for the funeral is the President of Rangastalam. - The Heroine was taking a bath when Ram charan found her. - The hand gesture thing you were asking about is a way of warding off Dishti ( negative energy) Usually Elders do that out of extreme love, or if you find anyone so beautiful and lovely that you don't want any negative energy near them, you do that. - The man who attempted suicide and the guy who found dead in the start for going against the bald guy aren't related.
