Btw I don't recommend shooting big bore magnum revolvers sitting at a rest always more comfortable to doing it free hand standing you'll absorb the recoil better
I've got the 6 1/2" tracker .357 7 shot and even with .38's you can feel the porting. I see why they port everything, they got that shit figured out. As long as I don't find a 942 for cheap this might have to be my next toy. I wanna see how well their porting works on a real cannon. Should be able to run it pretty fast.
Sorry I left out what hit me. It was a piece of the bullet where it was shaved off because of the hand allowing the cylinder to go to far foward. And Taurus seems like they do not care. I have a small scar on my face from it.
Rusty Zipper I’ll have to keep an eye on the suggested guns. I’ll probably stick to standard firearms. This gun was a nice one all around, kick wasn’t too bad but I just would not want to be on the receiving end of this.
I bought a new 454 Raging Bull I was shooting the Hornady 240gr also out of the first 5 shots I felt what I thought was a little bit of the blast from the compensator in my beard. Didn't think a lot about it. So I reloaded and on the 8th shot ever out of the Bull. I had something hit my face and shooting glasses hurt like hell. I touched my face and my hand was covered in blood. I took it to a gunsmith to take a look at it. They only looked at it no work was done. They found that the hand allowed the cylinder to go to far fwd. I sent it back to Taurus in October it got there on the 21st. I called on the 22sd of January and was told they were going to evaluate what the problem was 13 weeks after they received it. At this point I asked them if it was going to be a year and the person I talked too couldn't give any type of time of repair. Can you say great customer service?
What came back and hit you? A piece of the gun or ammo shrapnel? I have heard horror stories of customer service for manufacturers. A friend of mine had a similar experience with Remington for a rifle. If you don’t mind, keep me posted on this. I want to hear what the resolution is for this.
My buddy had the same problem with his Taurus raging bull 454. They had problems with the cylinders being out of time. Which would peel the edge of the bullet off and send it out the side of the gun. Taurus finally fixed it after he sent it back to them for the 3 times. I believe they sent him a new gun finally. I have a raging bull in 480 ruger with a 6 inch barrel and it's pretty snappy. It kicks more than my 460 for sure but I think that's more on the barrel length. Its definitely worse than a 454.
It is now Dec 14 2020 and Taurus still has not resolved my claim. 4 months ago they finally said I could get any model of pistol I wanted so I chose the Raging Hunter in 6 or 8 inch whichever they had. I was told they have none in stock at that time. But they assured me I would receive in a couple of weeks. Well 16 weeks later I have missed another hunting season. I call every week but all i can get to is some bored house wife answering calls on their home phone.
How do you figure the 454 kicks harder than the 460? The 454 is a supercharged version of the 45Lc. The 460 is a twin turbo version of the 454. My 460 smacks harder than any 454 I ever shot. I even shoot 454 out of my 460 and theres no comparison.
@@chrisbeekley1887 well 454 casull generates 90% if the pressure,speed, and bullet weight of a 460 so technically it does have less recoil and when comparing them in the same gun yea the 460 is worse but when comparing them in different guns is when the 454 takes a turn most standard revolvers chambered for 454 casull weigh around 3-4 lb most 460s around 5-6 it might not sound like much but its a huge difference in the perceived recoil yea 454 is a baby when shot oit of a 5.5 lbs 460 but shoot one out a a 3 lbs ruger and you'll change your mind I once shot the alaskan snub nosed and compare it to holding a steel rod while somebody beats it with a bad
I like these hunting revolvers, but I absolutely hate there scope mounting rails requiring all of those screws. I definitely prefer the Ruger Super Redhawk 454 with there milled base for scope rings. If Taurus ever fixes that on there 454 Raging Bulls then im in. Unfortunately though the last I checked they only have built in picatinny rails on there the 44 mag versions. So ill stick with the SRH ;-)
