This video like many others is definitely long overdue but rest assured I'm editing them as you read these!
During the week of shot show, Ryan and I had the pleasure of training with Steve and Gill of Ripcord Industries (www.ripcordindustries.com/ ).
We covered a bunch of topics in this short-range day but had some great conversations that I wanted to share with you guys!

Hey mojo, so human reaction is .24 sec, Agent Bill Rogers with FBI did a ton of research and discovered that to be the number. He then worked on creating the Rogers Range course of fire which works off of these statistics. That course of one of few to this date that has not been challenged and it’s used to qualify tier 1 groups / feds. You guys accurately shooting at .26 seconds is blazing fast.

What about when buddy shot at .19? Is possible he was an exception or is it more likely that he was gaming the situation and it worked to his advantage?

@@lilg0011 most likely gaming considering that reaction time of .18 is decently common, that doesn’t account for the movement that comes after so if your brain is registering at .18, you would have to be moving the rifle before that for a .19 to be possible. So while he definitely moved after the beep the process to move was already underway before the buzzer.

@@lilg0011 can you game it, yes of course. Allot of people do it when shooting close range, commonly referred to point and shooting. It will get you so far. Although at a close range it can be affective, one should not rely on it. There’s allot that went into discovering that .24 time, blinking speed, reaction, frames per second we can see at hence why allot of moves are recorded at a specific FPS rate, and so on. He might of gotten the shot off, but I’d be willing to bet he couldn’t call his shot. Still fast, won’t take that away from him.

I was able to do a headshot at 5yds from low ready in a .26,.27, and .28 respectively all in a row at my last range day, and I was absolutely blown away as my previous best was a .37

At the 11:30 - 12:30 mark, mojo is faster since he’s not holding not your typical high port high ready. The other man to the right has to rotate his rifle much more than mojo. Also since the guy on the right is right handed and he’s in the right the rifle has to rotate even more over mojo on the left with a lower high ready but is already pretty much on target, he just needed to push forward, mount and shoot. Interesting takeaway is keeping your muzzle close or on target if there is a potential escalated threat.

This is why when you eventually look at the time you cant believe you've been at the range for 7hrs and you forgot you were hungry 🤣 so much fun training with friends though. I'm guilty of realizing HOURS have gone by in an instant when training like this and just talking everything out with your buddies.

Love everything you put out man. I would preface this with "people who get it, not necessarily people who agree with you on everything", but yeah, 100%, surrounding yourself with people who take training seriously and can provide you with feedback for those blind spots, and keep you honest and hold you to a higher standard, hell yeah.

@@DanTheGolfer Unfortunately, I don’t have a Geissele hand guard to compare it to in my hands. I’m looking to get a mk8 here pretty soon though. On its own it’s got a thicc wall while being 6061 T6, and within an ounce same weight as the mk8.

Never really understood the low ready drills where they don’t even start at a real low ready. Aiming at the bottom of the target isn’t low ready.

Yeah the real low ready shouldn’t be even in the “shoulder pocket” looking ahead. It’s more of a low compress. They did say this isn’t a realistic drill anyway. It’s more to isolate the timed response to a auditory stimulus.

That like many things is open to interpretation. “Low ready” is that when my muzzle is “low”? Or is someone gonna get mad and call it depressed muzzle? Low ready is intended to see the majority of the target to gain that information. I always say as long as you can see hands and waistline you’re good.You aiming at the bottom target, to some that’s low ready. Hell I don’t ever recall going to work and holding on a human being at that kind of “low ready”. Shiii I’m literally on the pelvic girdle, just enough to see what I need to see. If the dude did something to where my blaster needed to come out, it’s probably gonna be on him hahah

@@ja2022 like I said, if the gun has to come out as in the criteria for deadly force has been met so now you as a civilian/cop/ mil dude made the determination to where my weapon has to come out are we gonna say YES you can absolutely pull out this firearm but nooo don’t point it at him? Now there may be scenarios where I don’t wanna point it at him but shiii if the criteria is there, than it’s there.

@@ja2022 really, any situation where you would need to see a threat’s hands, whether you’ve shot them already and are making sure they’re down while waiting for help, or you’re trying to get them to drop their weapon before shooting them. In those scenarios you would drop the muzzle down to the “low ready” so you’re ready to shoot but not aiming at vital organs lol and so you have a better view of them.
