Range Rover Evoque EPB Park Brake Maintenance Mode Into and Reset Land Rover Electric Park Brake LR2

This is how to put a Range Rover Evoque electric park brake into maintenance mode and to get it out of maintenance mode and reset everything afterwards. This is a 2012 model. This needs to be done if you are changing the rear brake pads and/or the discs or are working on the rear and you need to remove the calipers. See my other video to put the handbrake into override mode to just keep the handbrake off temporarily.
Works on Freelander too

Used your method on my 2015 Disco Sport and it worked first time. I had recently bought a Haynes online manual and the instructions to do the same job may have well been written in Welsh. Not that there's anything remotely wrong with Welsh - it just wasn't something I was following at all. But thanks for posting! Turned a head scratching job into the simple one it always should have been.

Thx dude - fantastic video - was about to give up on rear brakes cos of the e-brake but this has totally saved my bacon...... I can concur with other contributors - 2014 LR2 USA - have to hold everything down during the process - but end result is 100% - so happy

Took me 10-15 tries to both get it in maintenance mode and out. The only thing I can say maybe helped it finally work was turning the car on for a minute then turning it on then starting the process

You might want to say in your instruction video that it requires HOLDING DOWN THE PARK BRAKE SWITCH AND THE THROTTLE THE ENTIRE TIME.

@@redram52 I just did this job today. It would not go into maintenance mode with your method. Not until I held the switch, pressed and held the throttle and switched the ignition of and back on did it go into service mode.

@@hadtocheathimtobeathim6549 ok. Might be a different year, software version, etc. this is why I always say ‘should work if….’ It’s here to help not a manufacturer workshop Manual. This worked for me so I thought I’d share it. There’s no need to SHOUT that it was different for you. If this didn’t work then you may have to look at another video.

Do you press, hold for 2 seconds, then release or press and keep holding? It looked like you were pressing the switch through the entire process. If so, why say "2 seconds"?

Thanks we use the scanner to do this which means leaving ignition on till completed and its a pain

what a horrible process just to change the rotors and pads.... so whats happens if you do that and don't do this part 1st and after? because i have just done so......

just clarify here, ignition on, press and hold the park switch for 2 seconds, keeping the park switch depressed, press and hold the throttle pedal for 2 seconds........ or do i release the park switch and press the throttle pedal for 2 seconds? ;)

I just had a warning light saying that “the hand break needs calibration. Press foot and hand break”. Would this work for a Range Rover sport 2014. Thanks for your help

Like yourself it didn't work, however ...... with a 2017 model, Start engine in park mode Press and hold brake pedal Press and hold parking brake switch for 2 sec Then switch off engine within 5 secs and continue to hold brake pedal and switch for a further 2 secs Voila ! The brakes will re engage when you start the engine.
