Watch Ranger Development Program presentations at the 2022 IDA Conference on Wednesday the 9th of November.
The Ranger Development Program (RDP) supports
the personal and professional development of
desert rangers. The program can assist ranger
teams to identify learning and skill development
priorities and incorporate these into practical
ranger-led projects.
Ngururrpa, Nyangumarta and Ngurrara Ranger teams from the North-West of
the desert presented their RDP project success
stories.
Ngururrpa Rangers provided an overview of
their Cultural Mapping with Drones Project.
Ngururrpa Women Rangers shared their
project Engaging Young Women in Ranger
Work.
Nyangumarta Rangers talked about Transfer of
Knowledge by Elders and Rangers to School
Kids Project.
Ngurrara Women Rangers presented on their
project Getting the Warakurna Women to
Fitzroy.

The annual IDA Conference is the largest gathering of Indigenous rangers in Australia. At the conference, we focus on strengthening the alliance, yarning about matters of regional importance, sharing information and most importantly, connecting with each other.
In 2022, there were over 400 delegates from 50 ranger groups who made the journey to Yulara and Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park. Traditional Owners and Indigenous rangers discussed collaborative land management priorities for one-third of the Australian land mass. Looking after desert country is a big job, so it is vital that rangers continue to strengthen our knowledge, skills and connections in the traditions of our ancestors. Palya!
