Good video. I do want to note some additional info as of last week when I went through: The order of the events is rope climb, zipline, and then equipment ditch/swim. The distance now is 25 meters not 15. Everyone will have a life vest for the rope climb and zipline portion but not for the equipment ditch/swim. They will ask for any weak swimmers and front load you during the start of the events. It's also called CWSA (combat water survival assessment) not CWST at RS. Yes, it matters because they were making each student say it as soon as they finished and were grilling the students for not knowing what it stood for. I ended up failing the 25 meter swim. Being a weak swimmer, I did practice but doing it under RAP week conditions was something else. I ended up swimming halfway but my legs gave out and I wasn't going anywhere. The RIs also did not like it when I started swimming with my head in the water, which I was told they didn't care for. You HAVE to keep your head above the water. Back to the pool for me..
Thank you for the update. I know ranger school does change its POI every so often so I’m thankful you Were able to update all the viewers on this page about some of them.
I saw everyone do a breast stroke, but I guess no one in my class asked if they could back float. For some reason I have a feeling the RIs wouldn’t allow this technique
Hey great question. I’ll say you do not need to be Michael Phelps out there, but you do have to have some confidence in the water. None of the swims are timed so you don’t have to worry about being fast in the water. All you need to do is to be able to swim from where you drop in the water to the ladder to get out of the lake and then be able to swim the 25 meter graded swim. I would say if you lack confidence in the water get in a pool and start practicing. Keep in mind you will be swimming in a uniform also which adds an element to it.
