I'm totally fine with McLean in the squad as part of the overall toolkit we need but it depends on the finances. I want one or two mature Scots in the squad to compliment the youngsters

Happy to sign McLean. We need more scottish players to meet European guidelines, need more experienced players since Jack, Arfield and lunny have left. He is a rangers man so knows what its all about and he was there player of the season so cant be too bad. Aslong as we get him for a good price then i am haopy with it.

Simple thing is Kenny McLean is a good player, if it’s not expensive or big wages it’s a yes from me.

Kenny has all the things you say and more. He will bring experience to the Squad, a Calmness when things get tough this season, and they will. No home games for at least the first month, and tighter budget this year. Unexpected Abatement costs. Hopefully all the distractions do not effect the club. Could be a tough start.

Should have went for McLean back in 2018, but I don't want him now. We are missing experienced players e.g. McGregor, Davis and Defoe from the Gerrard era and I don't think McLean benefits us at all.

Total football. Total flexibility in 3 or 4 players is useful, and some flexibility in the rest of the squad in necessary.

Sorry CJ Usually agree with you most times but I cannot accept signing a 32 year old on a 2 or3 year contract and probably having to pay £2 million for him. One season then finished and now we are paying him for 2 years sitting on the bench. I thought we had learned our lessons about over 30 year old and coming form the championship such as Lawrence, Dowell, Doran’s the list goes on

Will give the boy the benifit of the doubt as he may turn out a great signing but I've zero exitment for this signing. Even the best championship players aren't nearly as good as they are made out to be. We should be aiming higher.

Our midfield is full of 21, 22, 23 year olds, Kenny McLean would provide experience in there, knows what it takes to play up here (if you look at his time playing in the SPL you can see he's normally good for 6 or 7 goals a season from midfield) and played Premier League/ top end of Championship for the past 7 years and over 40 caps at international level, just been named Norwich PotY and is a proper Rangers man into the bargain as well as being another Scottish player in the squad meaning he'll actually relate to the fans and play for the jersey... also churned out 52 appearances last season and between 35-42 for the 5 seasons before that which is a lot more than what a Ryan Jack or Kemar Roofe offered... as long as we're not relying on him to be a starter every single game or on extortionate wages I've absolutely no problem with this type of signing considering we just got 5 30+ year olds off the books and only have 4 30+ year old outfield players in the squad currently, don't remember anyone complaining when we signed Scott Arfield who was turning 30 in a few months or a 34 year old Steven Davis, both massively improved our performance levels 👍

Only thing CJ we have been down that road before, Dorrans and Barton come to mind hopefully if he comes in its a success

All depends on the price and his wages as we've been scorned before with these championship players I personally would like to see him signed but I wouldn't pay more than 750k for him as we would be better putting the money for signing Watson from Kilmarnock

Surely there are better prospects of Scottish players in this league that are younger, would be cheaper, still have potential to grow and earn money from in future? McLean is one of those players that i am extremely unsure about. Sure he ticks a few boxes; Scottish, experienced and can play in a few positions BUT i don't know if he is what we need. Then again, maybe I'm being a tad snobbish in thinking "is he good enough for Rangers?" Re his age, that old adage of "if he's good enough, he's old enough" stands true but the flip side of that is also true "if he's good enough, he's young enough". All i can say is that if we do sign him then i will not pre judge him, he will get my full 100% support.

Not super excited… but, does check a lot of boxes. Scottish, familiar with Rangers/SPL, and experienced (without the baggage of many of our current ‘experienced’ players). Need role players as well.

Why is everyone focusing on his age? If we get him for under 1 million then it’s a good deal. Hes never going to get to be Iniesta but we’re never signing Iniesta. Some of the bears need to focus on what else CAN get for our money and he fits the bill.

If Kenny comes I’ll back him, he has that tenacity and passion that Scotty airfield had- I’ll always back those kind of lads. BUT not the age profile we were promised and I hope we don’t dedicate too much of the wage budget to him.

I do t think we should be paying big bucks for s 32 yr old no matter who it is. If he came as a free transfer or a small fee because he was at the end of a contract then not a problem, for me it depends on price because I doubt we will make anything back on him down the line.
