Slowpoke community day was mildly underrated. The xp bonus for one of the largest catch circles in the game gave you a chance to grind millions of xp. I’d put it in good tier
Typholsion cday was actually a beast and it’s because it was the first ever double layered cday that stacked a 2x catch stardust c day bonus with a 2x event stardust bonus making it a x4 stardust event. I vividly remember this one as I was able to 7 day streak on a weather boosted Chimecho which was a record stardust catch of ~25k stardust that lasted until 2022.
This list seems pretty harsh, or at least focusing maybe a bit too much on the current meta as opposed to how these Pokemon were at the time of their Community Days. I also don't really see how reduced egg distance is a bad bonus. It isn't as good as the other two bonuses, but it still isn't bad, especially on Community Days where you can have a better chance of hatching baby Pokemon. That bonus has helped me during events where I have more chances of getting 7km eggs. I think that there needed to be another tier between good and bad. Putting Pokemon like Mareep and Shinx in the bad category bothered me a lot more than I thought it would.
I agree. There are some benefits of the quarter egg hatch distance, like working on your platinum breeder medal. It's not as bad as to drop the com day down a tier because of that bonus.
I would also take in consideration the possibility of hatching the Shiny Baby Pokemon when ranking the Community Days (Roselia, Togetic, Magmar, Electabuzz). Me personally I only hatched one Shiny Budew but still a nice feature.
@xeno9505 yes for the com day it's just that togepi, and riolu aren't baby pokemon and shouldn't be referred to as such, unfortunately niantic ran with it that's why folks were getting a first evolution stardust instead of a base stardust. The mons were first introduced not as baby but full mons
I'm not sure when it happened but the spawn rates for Dratini community day were insane. I think the actual spawns were boosted in addition to boosted shiny rates. I feel like since then, the spawn rates have been meh. Slakoth comm day also gave broader access to vigoroth with great pvp IVs. There was also a SilphRoad tournament that season featuring normal types either that month or soon after.
The fact you put a Stardust Community Day (Hoppip) above Slakoth makes me feel this tier list is inconstant with the 3 things you judge the Com Days on. Stardust Community Days are "bad" at worst, cause if nothing else you can get a load of Stardust. Plus Jumpluff has a niche use in PVP. And also its well known that people won't power up Slaking all the way so it's not amongst all your legendarys at the top. Seeing a wild Slaking in the wild is cooler personally. I'd love to know what stopped Gyarados from being Bidoof Tier btw. - Magikarp/Gyarados are iconic shinys - 3x Catch Stardust (the best bonus) - Com Day move was beneficial - Useful in all 3 PVP Leagues - Has a Mega - The Mega was one of the best in the Mega Master League - 400 candy evolution Justice for Magikarp! I'd actually like to see you sit down and do this tier list with someone like Pokemama or another content creator to see if there are any disagreements. Keep up the great work. Here's to an awesome 2024!
Seriously I have no clue why he thought slakoth com day was better than hoppip. He should understand that not everyone powers up their Slaking to lvl50 because it's hot trash in the meta, and like @upitpompey said, even though jumpluff sucks as well, it was a 3x catch stardust so we could farm stardust. Dumb decision on daxi's part
I respecfully disagree with a lot of them, but one that stood out was that Squirtle having sunglasses is a cool concept that you entirely ignored, it should be bumpmed to amazing. One more would be Eevee which includes the highest amounts of shinies of all of the community days, and they are super good shinies and some of them are good for PvP even. It must be Bidoof tier or Amazing at the least!
One thing that I have to let you think about it what impact did the Pokemon have back then. 2018 today isn't massive with Gible. But it was massive in 2018 when still very few had Dratini and if they had Dragonite they surely did not have many of them nor maxed out. Charizard become a much better attacker with Blast Burn, but Blastoise getting Hydrio Cannon helped it. though Kyogre still was just better. Tyranitar was a massive jump for a possible DUO on Moltres and a SOLO on the RAID DAY 2018. IT was a T4 raid so it was a possible solo with weather boost. I GO PLUSSED A SHUNDO HOPPIP ON THE UTLRA UNLOCK. Amazing shiny on final evolution.
Squirtle Squad Squirtle was released on its Community Day. Literally the second costumed Pokemon (Only beaten out by Pikachu). Zigzagoon gave us a whole outfit for free and it's amazing. Your list is wrong.
One more thing about stufful, its a relatively new mon and needs 400 candies and we didnt have much time to gather many. I managed to catch a hundo after community day, but couldnt take advantage of it during december cause it needed so many candies
Great video - if you ever do this again I would recommend doing these in order of release. would give a greater perspective on the timeline of when these occured and give folks reflection on what ones they did/didn't do. But overall awesome vid.
Does someone remember Slakoth's community day, when the spawn was completely broken and pretty much no slakoth was spawning? That was a point for me to take a break from Pokemon Go...
I was mad at the ralts pick and the threaten to lower the tier. Gardevoirs relevance in pve (and decent PvP) in shadow, regular, and mega forms are really good. Also the shiny is sooo great looking.
I imagine weedle community day was good for evolving a lot of weedles! And slowpoke community day was like, 3x catch XP? So easy excellents = lots of XP.
I feel like there should be a middle of the road category just for the starters. All of the starters once they get their comm day moves should land at least in middle of the road. Except Snivy, this is where all of the shinys debut and all starters are at least decent budget counters for raids, and have some play in specialty cups in PVP. The starters and psuedo's are typically the most stand out comm days for participation.
I may be bias to my favorite Pokémon, but slowpoke community day is easily s tier. The new shiny release paired with the insane xp bonus with an incredibly easy catch circle with moves that made slowpoke's evolutions have more play in pvp and raids. Criminally underrated community day on your part daxi.
I started playing again with a new account in April this year, the next day was Bagon com day and i had no idea, no poke balls, and now im level 43 , grinding everyday and wishing it would come back lmao
The only disagreement i have with the list is with Squirtle being in the bad category below Bulbasaur. I think both can be in the good category or both in the bad together. Otherwise, the rest of the list i dont have any other disagreement. Maybe the grubbin Community Day to be amazing, you could argue for, and yes, I agree with dropping Pikachu and Starly down to bad category. No, pikachu doesnt get a pass just because it was the first community day Mon lol.
If we're looking at them for when they released then Larvitar/Tyranitar CD was at least in the Amazing tier. There was basically no better rock or dark type attacker at the time. If you went hard for it you basically had a team that could handle the Legendary bird trio in raids and more importantly gave you an incredible dark type team when Mewtwo EX raids were a thing. Power crept now for sure, but at the time it was one of the most important CDs.
Man, this list has a lot of hot garbage tanks. You ranked a lot of Pokémon in the bad category because of poor raid and PVP use, however, at the time they were the top in their typing for raids the most notable being Gangar & Tyranitar. Those words extremely met relevant at the time and they were both so rare that nobody could power them up to level 40. Most people did not even have a larvitar when this community day released.
I'd put Pikachu in amazing tier. It's not a good Shiny but because it was actually my first Shiny ever in Pokémon Go and I'm pretty sure others too. Back then with the first ever Community Days we didn't know what a Shiny Boost Pokémon (in fact we didn't even have one!) was and was very surprised when we got one. Also Squirtle should go higher because it had a costume! Also YES! ALOLAN GEODUDE! GOOD LORD! I THINK I ONLY GOT 3 OR 4 I HATED THAT COMMUNITY DAY! 🗑️ Also fun fact: unfortunately Swablu Community Day Event came out on my birthday in 2021. So while I got some birthday Shinies it was a Swablu... Also Stufful isn't that bad because both it and Beware was both brand new Pokémon and Niantic haven't done that yet so you could get 2 brand new Shiny Pokédex entries with them! Also I'm a little bias with Grubbin because I got my first ever XXL Shiny with that Event. Also Treecko, and Torchic in "bad" did you forget about their megas? Also Ursaluna good and could get a updated moveset to make High Horsepower better later.
Also I think Mudkip Comday was a 3x catch XP comday. So, by his logic, it should be in the amazing tier. But mudkip's one of my favorite pokemon so not gonna complain. Also, mega sceptile is the number one grass type and one of my favorite shiny of all time.
Also another thing I forgot to mention, although tepig's shiny is utter trash, shiny emboar is bomb, so to put that in the F tier is BS. it deserves atleast a bad tier.
Gonna have to disagree with you about Squirtle in the Bad tier there, boss. I may be biased because Shiny Blastoise is my first (and only) Best Buddy, but I love that green shell. I put it in Amazing tier, but even if you don’t agree because of the split mega-evolution thing with Charizard, then Blastoise must be a solid Good tier.
I think Machamp should've gotten EQ since it has Stone Edge as the higher damage output than Rock Slide. EQ, I think, has more coverage than Payback, which is resisted from fairies.
Stufful needs 400 candies to evolve. And to get the 400 candies was a reason for you to put Swablu in the good categorie. And the CD actually was the release day of Stufful. So it should at least go to the bad categorie. Also Noibat needs 400 candies to evolve and you say the shiny was nice. Should for this maybe be in good. It's just for some pokemon you mention the candies it needs to evolve as a reason to put them in higher categorie, while you ignore it for others.
Alolan Geodude day... I spent most of the playtime with a friend eating and talking and walking, BUT I did get a hundo out of the special research, so I don't mind too much. And then we had a derecho move through later that day.
I may be biased cause Dragonite is my favorite pokemon but I love shinny dragon he looks like an actual dragon being green with purple wings and he looks like Pete’s magic dragon!! I named my best buddy shinny dragon Pete for that very reason I also love shiny Dratini and dragon air because the pink is great but I feel like that’s one of the only reasons people don’t like Dragonite shiny is because they were hoping for him to be pink but honestly I don’t think pink would work with Dragonite a little petes magic dragon works a lot better but I kept 3 shiny in my inventory 1 dratini 1 dragonair and 1 Dragonite as best Buddy
My favorites would be dratini, rhyhorn, bagon, deino and litwick yeah I don't care about pvp and i just basically took in mind for how much i would use it and is it a nice shiny litwick wouldn't be in the top if chandelure wouldn't look so awesome!
Tbh Zigzagoon was one of the most mid community days, the mid evos were still a thing and the shiny is very common outside of the community day and the pokemon isnt good at all (double weak to fighting, a promeniet pvp type). Also putting ralts not in bidoof or amazing is absolutely crazy, one of the best fairy pokemon in the game, probably top 20 shiny in the game easily too. Also larvitar should also be in amazing.
Just a critique - you've not mentioned at all the utility of community days to give you candy for meta-relevant shadows, which is definitely an useful metric given a lot of these Pokemon aren't useful as non-shadows. I think you forgot they existed lol
-Ursaluna will put the fear of Arceus in the Master League if it ever gets Shadow Claw -Ima put some respect on Roselia's name based on accessibility… not everyone cares to raid Katana especially after the remote raid nerf and where the bleep do you find XL candies for Zarude? Not to mention Roserade is a tank compared to Kartana 😂
The way ik timetravelers have screwed up our timeline is bc he mentioned Pikachu and dratini 1st as the 2 first ever community days i literally remember when community was 1st released and got me my 1st ever shiny black charizard
I don’t agree with Treecko because Sceptile has a good move set of Seed Bomb as it’s quick attack and Leaf Blade and Dragon Claw as it’s charged attacks. This Pokémon needs to atleast be in the good tier, but that’s just me
This tier list focused way too much on meta relevancy, but there is more that goes into how good a community day is. Such as Squirtle Community Day was so good because of the sunglasses Squirtle.
Bad list, only taking into consideration pvp relevance. Now I'm one of those people who play ultra league alot, but not everyone does and you also put some rare pokemon and ones with good megas low on the list
