Instead of having a "Trash" Tier like mostly all other Pokemon tier lists Ive seen, he just puts a dislike tier with at least something positive to say, I respect that~❤
@@disguisedvampire6493 it’s not toxic positivity. It’s being reasonable and talking about why a design is bad and at least one thing that’s good about it. Being a pessimist isn’t much better, now is it? What is being completely negative going to do? I know the internet just loves being completely negative all of the time but it’s refreshing to see someone who isn’t overly positive nor overly negative. He is still listing the bad things in a design without completely ignoring the positives. That’s all. Why is that so bad to you? Maybe your just too cynical.
I really like that you have a generally positive outlook on most pokemon. Even the ones you don’t like that much, you still appreciate in some way (except ekans lol). A lot of other people talk about how much they hate certain pokemon rather than appreciating what’s good about them
I personally would really love for this to continue. And specifically I feel like you haven't talked about a lot of Johto Pokémon before, so I'm curious what your opinions are.
I actually did this myself a while back to see what I actually thought of all these Pokemon. It turned out that Gengar was my favourite Pokemon from Kanto which I believe makes sense. I'm a firm lover of simple yet effective and Gengar is an embodiment of that philosophy. Other notables in my S-tier were Pokemon like Vaporeon, Vileplume, Mewtwo, Lapras and Snorlax.
I love snakes and what disappoints me about Ekans is how it has no teeth … A snake that looks like an old man missing his false teeth? I have a soft spot for Arbok though as it was my very first shiny :)
It made me very happy to see you put Raichu that high. It's my favourite Pokemon ever and it saddens me that his nice desing is overshadowed by Pikachu
Ohhhhh I love watching these kinds of videos! Makes me feel like I get to know someone more based on their preferences hehehe. Keep up the great work man! I love your art and videos 💜!
I’m over here LOVING dewgong, tauros, and arbok and realizing I actually preferred the more unoriginal, more “realistic” designs. It is always interesting to see someone else’s opinion and preference on design
loved this so much. i love your kindness and genuine appreciation for all the pokemon. you have such nice words!! and are very thoughtful. do more of these!!
6:40 I’m so glad that people are now starting to like Parasect. It’s been one of my favorite ‘mons since forever, and it deserves more love! Wish it had better stats tho.
Tbh, I think a lot Pokémon from gen 1 would be hated if they were revealed now. Not that I think they're poor designs, it's just that people can be brats. Imagine all of the hate geodude would get now-
Before I watch this, I hope Venomoth is up in the S+++ tier as it's my favorite pokemon lol Edit: Nooooo ;; I mean it is a lil bland but Venomoth will always be top tier in my heart :>
I love how you give your reasoning, but its funny cause for some you gave really nice and thoughtful critiques on, my brain just goes "cute, yes, like. doofy, love. ew gross do not like. dumb, do not like." I think I don't like a lot of the "cool" looking ones because they don't seem cuddly and friendly to me. I didn't realize that was important to me until typing this comment, like how enjoyable would hanging out on the couch be with this pokemon? Can I pet it and cuddle it and give it snacks? I tend to like the first stage of families most because of this. I would definitely be the type to just have pokemon as pets and not battle them :P
Dragonair to Dragonite is always the biggest downgrade to me. They do not look related, and this majestic beautiful serpent turns into a derpy (but cute) chubby dragon. It's just not where I wanted the line to go, and would rather Dragonite be a late game pokemon or be the male form from Dragonair.
just an idea. get several other poketubers involved, each with a specific prospective involved, and rank each region based on a criteria of: art (concept, design, style); music, theories, competitive use, lore, gameplay (normal play, nuzlocke), and so on.. would be interesting to see the dynamic of interaction
4:03 "Literally looks like a snake" I don't understand what you by the whole dislike on this Pokemon, but the concept for this Pokemon IS A SNAKE. That's like saying Pigey looks like a bird when it IS A BIRD. A pigeon is more specific than a general name "snake."
Great vid. My S tiers though are 1) Mewtwo 2) Dragonite 3) both Arcanine forms 4) Scyther and 5) Snorlax. Honourable mentions: both forms of Ninetales, Lapras, The Galarian birds, Pikachu, both Raichu forms, Charizard and its forms, Blastoise and its forms, Gengar, Alakazam, both Sandslash forms, Machamp, Nidoking, Rhydon, Galarian Slowbro and Alolan Marowak
Arcanine has been my favorite Kanto Pokémon ever since I first played Black/White 2. It’s huge fluffy fire dog that can travel at great speed! It’s hisuian form is kind of cool. Not what I was hoping for but not a completely disaster like most regional forms.
I used a Alolan Ninetails during my first playthrough of Pokèmon Sun I even became the champion while using it on my team those are great memories nowadays I'm wonder trading for completing the Pokèdex
My personal Kanto favorites are the 3 starter lines Charizard being the highest of the 3) not cuz im that kind of genwunner charizard fan i just really love how its depicted in the anime and Origins to be this gentle pokemon with a kind heart but can be terrifying to protect its trainer. Also i'd say maybe right above Blastoise is Starmie i just really love how pretty it is and that pop of red in its shiny Gem core is lovely along with the purple and yellow it just is perfect for a pokemon that isn't from this world. Also Rhydon is high up there with others like arcanine (its just a huge fluffy dog i wanna pet it) Mew obviously its simple but works due to it having DNA of every pokemon, its iconic just like Pikachu and Eevee who are also up there Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash are up there as well again i think they are pretty i do tend to go for pretty pokemon or cute ones (also for the starters im including their megas 1 spot higher then the normal ones except mega charizard X, its 1 step down for me i just prefer the Y version i just love how pretty it is and i swear i don't shut up about the word pretty but yeah those are just a few of the mons that are top tier for me (MY OWN OPINION) its okay if any of you disagree im not gonna be mad my favorite pokemon is literally morpeko i can't judge any opinion
If sticking to Pokemon that you only could have obtained in the original games (excluding Legendaries) his team would be Arcanine, NIdoking, Vaporeon, Scyther, Gengar, and Lapras (or Venosaur if you want to keep a starter pokemon). That's a pretty cool and talented team.
Venonat is one of my few favorites that's an earlier evolution and wish more of its design was evident in Venomoth. It takes a potentially pretty creepy looking bug and makes it into a really cute little monster. Also, I always preferred Haunter's look over Gengar. That may be because of its intentions though. Haunter is meant to look fun-loving but creepy while Gengar has an intentionally more malicious and bully-like personality, something reflected often in its game appearances when it's given character. I think because of how accurate their personalities are, I like Gengar less, just on a personal level, but I also think it's conveyed so well in their designs that I can't argue with its placement in terms of artistic success. The only thing I don't care for about Eevee is because its face looks like a human face stuck on a puppy's body sometimes. Depends on the art I think, but I prefer the evolutions it has with a more dog-like snout (or in vaporeon's case more of a cat-face look, but it still doesn't have the impression of a cartoon person face on an animal's body.)
I am partial to the fighting types myself, which is probably biasing my opinion, but i think you were right about every pokemon except the fighting types, they would all be one step higher if i made it, with Galarian Zapdos as an S tier as well. but poor ekans, i was worried it was gonna end up by itself
Hitmonchan is a MUCH better pokemon then Hitmonlee. The elemental punches are everything, Hitmonchan can cover so many types of you know what your doing.
I have an idea for you Ron, and maybe even a challenge for your other pokey drawing friends! Go and find the craziest and worst taxidermied creatures ever, and then try to make pokemon based off them!
I definitely want a gen 2 tier list! If you feel up to it, gen 3 would also be interesting. They're actually my favorite gens, and I know you're a big fan of gen 3 while not liking gen 2 as much. I think it'd be interesting to see your opinions on those. I like Charizard too! And its Mega X form is actually pretty great. My S tier for gen 1 is probably: Gyarados, A-Ninetales, Ninetales, Vulpix, A-Vulpix, Lapras I like Vulpix, Ninetales, and their Alola forms all equally. Some notable A-tier mons: Gengar, Dragonair, Bulbasaur, Charizard X, Growlithe, Arcanine, Butterfree
Great insight. I wouldn't be able to do this cause I'd just end up putting all the "cool" mon in >B+ and all the "others" below them. My heartbroke when you announced your Eeveelutions rankings, as my order is flipped FJV.
when it's about the eeveelutions for me it have always been between Jolteon or Umbreon, but then i remember that when i was young i liked to sleep with my 2 favorite cards under my pillow and it was a Pikachu and an holographic Jolteon so i always go with him and nostalgia, well i still have him
I just replayed "Let's Go Pikachu" for some childhood nostalgia of Pokemon Yellow. Your S tier I can totally get behind. Vaporeon and Nidoking were always in my go-to team!
Super Cool Vid here (I did Pokémon Tier Lists of these of my own back then 😊) (Whenever U have Time for them) I'd really like you to do more of this with the other Gens (If ya want)
I hope you so a gen 2 gen 3 and gen 4 tier list it’s interesting to see the differences in everyone’s opinions on top tier Pokémon weather it be by design or from pure nostalgia 😁
Im the only person i know who didnt like eevee. I just didnt like having to decide what im going to evolve it in to. But when pokemon go came out i fell in love with eevee.
I love jynx❤.The first pokemon game I played was stadium and the first pokemon I loved was jynx. I believe she needs to evolve in scarlet and violet and give her the hidden ability bad dream. With a combination of the signature move lovely kiss It will become a very amazing pokemon.
It's interesting that you described rhydon as the archetypal pokemon from back then, given that it was the first pokemon ever designed. So it was literally the reference for all other pokemon designs.
Hey Ron! Hope you are planning on continuing the series about singular types when you go over the designs and how to make our own fakemon of that specific type!!
