except in arkham knight. worst written and voiced character, along with the least polished combat. dude didn't give a shit about batman being gone and sounded and looked younger than tim. dunno what was going through the devs heads when they worked on him.
Batman easily has the best comic book stories of any superhero across Marvel and DC. There's just no comparison to his comic background. Although I do agree, Nightwing might just be more likeable. I feel Spider-man is overrated though. I don't find him to be all that likeable. He just comes across as immature to me.
@@braevinmaund1210in what universe does the nearly 30 year old looking dick grayson look like the barely 21 Tim drake. Dick isn’t the type to cry when there’s work to do and definitely not while other people are also grieving he’s gonna try and lift the mood. This is quite possibly the worst take
True tho since nightwings gotten his own run in 96 it’s almost always been good probably only having 4.5-5 years worth of bad runs in his 27 years of having a monthly series. If you compare that to the last 27 years of mainline Spider-Man I think nightwing is doing a little better
Cassandra Caine is so dope bro. I swear her arc’s and just general skill set is dope. Definitely the best fighter in the bat family or has the potential to be. I can see her taking up the mantle if Bruce died
Thats a sentiment I see a lot of people say, and I gotta say I kinda agree with it as well, Jason and tim, don't fit the batman role for me personally, and while I could see Dick being and staying as batman, I more so agree with the thought process that that isn't really him either, also seeing him go from being nightwing to going back to being under bruce's shadow/legacy isn't great imo. Also, I don't really vibe with the thought of damian being batman, maybe he will grow into a character where I could see it, but personally he doesn't really fit the role for me either. Can def agree with the idea of cass being the best for the batman mantle.
I really think it would be perfect to have a Damian Wayne show where it shows his pros and cons in his character/abilities and each episode he can interact with diff characters (nightwing, Stephanie, Tim, and lesser known members aswell as villains) idk I just think his character can have potential with being Robin and how many characters he’s surrounded by
At the mention of Alfred and how there never seems to be a hated version, I had a quick flashback to all the different Alfreds I remember seeing. Finally, I remember a quote from when the VA of the BTAS’ Alfred passed away said by Kevin Conroy, saying goodbye to “Alfred.” Now, given the recent news of Conroy’s passing, I imagine young Bruce meeting his father figure once again with open arms. Reunited again.
Apokolips war was the first truly positive experience I had with Damian. I hope they continue to give him more depth and peel back some of the angst and give him more heart.
I get your point about Jim Gordon, but personally I absolutely love him. There’s something about a cop who lives in the most corrupt hellish city on the planet, yet still never ever wavering and just keep being a good cop and more importantly a good man is so intriguing. Jim is amazing and an absolute necessity for a Batman project for me.!
I vibe with what you're saying to be honest, Jim is a very compelling character, hope it didn't come off as me ragging on him or anything. It definitely wasn't meant to be. I do like him.
Nightwing is my easy number 1 in all of DC. But besides him, Cassandra is my number 2 batfamly. She was the original for a lot of Damian stories. She was a super assassin who was trained to kill from birth. I like her better than Damian because she's the only female batfamily member who feels like Bruce's kid opposed to extended family. Barbara was/is Dick's gf and accepted into the family separate from that as well. Stephanie is the same but for Tim. Huntress and batwoman have ties to Bruce, but aren't close. Cassandra feels like Bruce's daughter. And unlike Damian. Cassandra absolutely despises killing to the same degree Batman himself does. She's honestly my pick for who should get the batman legacy after Bruce retired. I love nightwing, but he needs to be nightwing not batman.
Stephanie brown is my favorite comic book character. I literally grew up reading her stories in the old Robin issues. Cool little tidbit about her is that she got pregnant during the No Mans Land arc in the 90s, and it was a real good take on teenage pregnancies. Won’t spoil what happens but it’s a fun read. I’d really suggest reading her 2009-2011 Batgirl by Bryan Q Miller. Only 24 issues but it’s really memorable, and the series made me like Damian for the first time since his introduction. lol.
I've heard about the pregnancy part of her story, thanks for not spoiling as I'm not 100% sure how it ends (I think I have an idea of it though). Also thank you for the recommendation, I will be sure to add it to my reading list. I also plan on reading more bat family stuff from the 2009ish era, I loved reading the red robin run, and I really want to read the run where dick was batman.
If your trying to get into more Batman comics I have some recommendations (Batman: Year One, Batman: Dark Victory, Batman: Death in the Family, Batman: Hush, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Batman: Knightfall) some of his biggest stories that serve as inspiration for a lot of the movies and tv shows. I would’ve said Long Halloween also but you said you’ve read it already lol. After that it’s fun to get more into the BatFamily stories.
Thanks for all the recommendations, I do have Year One sitting on my shelf right now, just want to finish my x-men stuff first, I have seen some of the adaptations of the original books like hush (I've heard fans dislike the animated movie version tho) and under the read hood, I will keep these in mind, thank you for the list bro.
@@GhostlyNest Ofc man I love meeting fellow comic lovers and just people who love DC/ Marvel stuff also. I’m a big X-Men fan also. A lot of those I feel like really help you get into Batman as a character while introducing you to some of those around him. And after that getting into more BatFamily stuff is so much more fun and feels more organic seeing it grow naturally imo.
I was really sad to see that he has passed, not only was he the GOAT batman imo, but also in any type of interview I saw him in he always seemed like a really really nice guy. It's always sad to see people pass away
For Barbara, I highly recommend checking out Birds of Prey. There was a one shot in 96 and the ongoing series followed. Gail Simone did wonders for that character … because of her writing, Barbara is S tier for me
I have checked it out, I read all of what was out and really enjoyed it. I haven't read the newer stuff though, will have to go back to it at some point.
Luke Fox came around the new 52 era as Batwing and then was pushed more to the forefront in tynions Dectective Comics run. However he had his own solo title Batwing before DC Rebirth. His brother is Jace Fox is the newest batman. If you want to dip your toes into Cassandra Cain I can recommend the ongoing Batgirls run by Becky Cloonan. Where Cassandra, Stephanie, and Barbara are all sharing the role of Batgirl.
Huntress is amazing. I suggest reading No Man's Land and Cry for Blood. She's so incredibly similar to Batman and that's due to her origins in the 70's before the Earth 2 reboot being Helena Wayne. Daughter of Batman and Catwoman. When they wanted to de-age the characters, it didn't make sense for them to have a child so they got rid of her. But some writers really missed Huntress so they created this prime earth version of her, Helena Bertinelli which is the version that most of us know. Greg Rucka is a fantastic writer for Huntress as he explains why she is a complete loner and so hell bent on revenge. And then of course we have Gail Simone who takes the time to find her a family with the Birds of Prey ( a FANTASTIC run). She brings a lot of drama and moodiness to every comic and it's amazing to see her evolve from an anti-hero into a proper hero of Gotham.
Yeah I had a memory that her origins had been messed with a bunch, I actually almost bought no man's land once, so this gives me more reason to buy it, thanks for the recommendations, I will keep them in mind really appreciate it.
Batwoman (Kate Kane) is in Batman Bad Blood and Catwoman Hunted and even Young Justice. I hope she will appear in DCEU and/or Battinson's franchise where she will be done justice.
That actually sounds about right, since you've jogged my memory i remember it was a batman beyond movie, the one where it's revealed the joker left a part of himself in tim, and adult tim is the new joker. I know I had some of the DCAU animated movies, specifically I remember having the mister freeze one, not sure if the batman beyond one was something I owned as well.
@@GhostlyNest What a trip. Thanks for sharing. Yeah. I grew up on the films and that film in particular left an imprint on my mind because of what happened to Tim [>
I can educate u a little more about Batwing. 1) He made comic debut in the New 52 had his own short comic run in 2011 2) Major character in the Batwoman series 3)The Son of Lucius Fox and if not mistaken brother of Jace Fox aka Tim Fox
We are literally the exact same in terms of how we rank these characters (not the positions of where they are like Tim over Bruce) except for Damian… I knew it would be this way, cause most people don’t like him but I would say read his new comics or watch people talk about them and review them on RU-vid and of course the supersons comics deceased (not canon) is really cool, he becomes Batman! Also the supersons movie was really good so Check that out too! Also red hood is S tier for me😂 other than that perfect rankings and great video!
If we are going on really obscure “team ups” as being part of the Bat-family, I believe Bane was erroneously believed to be another member of the Wayne family to the point where Batman and him even teamed up. Eventually, having found out it wasnt true, Batman and Bane grew close enough that Bruce helped Bane by giving him resources to find his real family.
Damian is a character I thin can be easily disliked because comics are a medium that can make character development hard. Like, they definitely wanted to have him develop and evolve his worldview, but it's a hard thing to do in comics because comics are so expensive and hard to catch up on as they come out (I don't buy comics but I read them, shhhhh, but even I struggle immensely to stay caught up on canon, and most comic fans interpretation of current continuity is probably a few years late actually).
Batwoman/ Kate Kane could be such a great character but for some reason she never stands out or does anything/ has stories that make her stick out from the rest of the family. She’s pushed more as an LGBT symbol than an actual character or personality, which I think turns some people away instead of wanting to learn more about her because they could really make her a great character who’s a member of the LGBT community in my opinion. Instead of keeping her so stagnant when she has so much potential to be great. The story could literally write itself if she’s introduced through DLC for the Gotham Knights game. Especially with her fathers role in the story and her cousin Batman/ Bruce Wayne being dead. Her relationship with our four characters could be interesting to watch develop. There’s romantic history between her and Montoya and the Police Commissioner is her step mother. Everything really sets up a great character arc for her
I could def see a lot of potential with batwoman in gotham knights like you said. I kept waiting for her to show up since her farther was in the story, but it never ended up happening lol.
@@GhostlyNest thanks for the response, I think they need to push her as a character first to establish her and then a symbol so that way when she represents a movement people care since they care about her. So much they can do with her potentially in a DLC 👀
I don’t care for Cass. She has that “cool factor” but otherwise the character is fairly shallow. She’s the daughter of two of the world’s deadliest assassins, she’s quite literally “the best fighter in all of the bat family above Batman and Nightwing” and she has super crazy training but she’s escaped the sort of programming by her mom to fight crime. She’s cool she just doesn’t strike me as interesting or deep on the level of Tim or Damian and especially not Jason and Dick. Batwoman isn’t particularly interesting to me, either. She’s really just a worse Batgirl character-wise. The DCAU really tried to push her and the Batwoman show absolutely killed that push which is kinda funny. Worst Bat Family character in the comics for sure.
Thanks man means a lot, I just put up a Pokémon ranking vid the other day, if that's something your interested in, I do plan on making more, just going to spread them out a bit, don't want to spam them.
Highly recommend looking into Batwing. In Batman: Bad Blood he was pretty cool and I like his character. Hopefully they add him, Huntress, Batwoman, and Damian as DLCs in Gotham Knights. (not ranked in that order lol)
thanks for recommending I will keep that in mind, I’m getting way more into reading comics atm so I will probably run into him at some point naturally as well, mostly focused on x-men so will be a while, batfamily is def on the list of things I want to read more of tho.
Yo you should totally do the spider family! You could people like Peter Parker Miles Morales Gwen Stacy Aunt May Spider-Man 2099 Scarlet Spider Ben and Kane Spider-Woman Silk Black cat And last but not least maybe Venom depending on how you look at it
That's actually a good idea, I might hold off on it for a bit though, I'm not as familiar with the extended Spiderman family with the exception of characters like Miles, Gwen, Black Cat and Aunt may, and I wouldn't really want to make a video where I put to many characters in the "I don't know anything about teir" I will definitely keep that idea in mind though as I continue to read more and more comics. (Finished the entire JMS Spider-man run a few months ago and loved it, ran from 2001-2006 I think)
@@GhostlyNest okay that's cool here are some suggestions for each character Peter Parker = back in black Miles Morales = spider verse honestly all of those books are good for all of the characters anyways moving on Gwen Stacy = web warriors Aunt May = I don't think she has her own series so noir Spider-Man because why not Scarlet Spider Ben = enter the Scarlet Spider I can't remember if it was one comic or a series Scarlet Spider Kane = honestly just the Scarlet Spider series is good for both Kane and Ben Spider-Man 2099 = Spider-Man 2099 Silk = Silk Black cat = devil and the details or the Trophy Hunter Venom = either lethal protector or Agent Venom depending on which Venom you're looking for Spider woman = Spider woman Sorry for all the reading
@@cak17 Awesome thank you for the recommendation man, will keep them all in mind. I will say I have read back in black and loved it, so that's a really good sign for me that your recommendations should be banger. and don't apologies I appreciate the list.
I opened this video immediately expecting to rage about it. Within seconds, I knew that wasn't going to happen as Tim got immediately put in S tier. Good list overall. My only complaint that I see with it (and that goes for a lot of tierlists) is having an "I don't know" category. I personally think you should either research the characters you don't know, or leave them off the list. But that's just me. Good list! Entertaining video! High marks across the board.
I can definitely understand that train of thought towards the "I don't know" category, the main reason I chose to include it was because otherwise there may be people asking where those characters where, thought it would be better to explain why I don't have them ranked rather than just pretending they done exist. Thank you very much for watching, means a lot to me that you enjoyed it :)
@@GhostlyNest That makes sense. I've seen a lot of tier lists where the "I don't know" category is larger than any two other categories put together. Really makes you wonder why they took the time to say idk, but not enough to learn anything about the people they aren't ranking. This, though, this was very well done. Keep it up, mate!
You mentioned having to pick and choose what to read. DC Universe Infinite is actually an incredible deal to be able to read almost any dc comics f that were released at least 6 months ago with the base subscription
Titans is pretty much the Worst Version/interpretation of Jason Todd there is. How you can you screw up such a Great Character like that (S Tier no question for me but i get it that you know only a little of him) is Beyond me.
I agree with the titans take, specifically how season 3 had him was God awful, even though I don't follow the characters comics intently, even I knew it was awful, but yeah most of what I know from him is from, Under the red hood animated film, battle for the cowl, and then just rando panels that I have found floating around the internet for the bast 6 years. I do think he is a great character I'm sure I will read more about him as time passes.
man same when i discover dick it's just that he will be my fav character of all time and my second fav will be damian and the third is spiderman and alfred maybe close to damian
what is youre favorite robin and youre favorite sidekick after they left the title robin like nightwing or red hood and youre favorite DC charater My favorite robin: Tim Drake/robin i like him more as red robin but i do like him more then other robins My favorite sidekick after they left the title robin: Dick Grayson/nightwing i just love his charater My favorite DC charater: Dick Grayson/nightwing
Yeah I'm well aware of Lucious fox, decided not to include him on the list, maybe I should have. It was his son Lucas fox that I haven't really seen anything of.
I think you should watch Batman: Under The Red Hood or read the death in the family comic to get the more accurate Version of Jason Todd (though I’m not. Comic expert I have heard that these give the Definitive depiction of Jason Todd)
Due to him being a character that exists in the future, I don't really consider him to be a main part of the batfamily, like to my knowledge he hasn't even been born yet in the comics. Also I don't really like him being the heir do the batman title tbh lol. I would prefer if it was someone else personally.
@@beneficent2557 I plan on watching the DCAU when I can, unfortunately I was too young to watch it as it was releasing, but everything I have seen of it looks really good, specifically I watch a lot of justice league/unlimited content on YT.
I think The Batman 2 NEEDS to have not just Robin, but a child Robin. I think around the age of 12 is okay. In modern retelling of Dick's story, he would often sneak out to try and find the man who killed his parents after bruce adopted him but before becoming Robin. One of these times batman saw him and brought him home, telling him the truth. Training him after that to keep him safe Doing this version of the origin justifies Robin being so young. Especially if they steal one of the best lines in all of young justice. When batman responded to why it was important to begin Robin's training while he was so young. Bruce isn't trying to turn Dick into a young version of himself, he's trying to prevent Dick from becoming that.
Did you ever watch the Gotham TV series? if you're a "Batman" fan, you HAVE to watch it. all 5 seasons, to me, are great. Also, I'm surprised that Black Canary isn't on the Bat-Family tier list.
Duke is a character I enjoy almost entirely because I want more black heroes and I read him specifically to support his longterm stay and actually really liked him as a character, little accidental thing I guess!
I don't get the concept of "ranking" a cast of characters you know little to nothing about. To make matters worse you claim to rank "all" the members & completely miss several noteworthy & obscure ones. Do your homework.
it's a video I made for fun in my spare time, it's not really that deep dude. I don't think I know "little to nothing" about these characters, I just didn't super heavily read comics until recently. But I have been a massive fan of these characters since childhood and always will be. However, I didn't want to fake that I know more than what I do, hence why If I felt I wasn't all knowing about a character I mentioned it. In retrospect I probably went overboard with saying that I wasn't super familiar with some characters, Jason in particular. I also only chose to do characters that I consider to be the main batfamily, I don't really consider characters like: Batcow, lucios fox, Harleyquinn or other characters. To me the characters on this list are the batfamily. Maybe having "All" in the title is a little bit misleading in retrospect, but at the time I didn't think it was, and I still don't mostly. Fare if u didn't like the vid, no one has to, everyone's opinions are valid. TLDR I love dc and marvel and like talking about them so just made this for fun.
@@GhostlyNest "I don't think I know "little to nothing" about these characters"... Dude, you literally have a category named "I know nothing about" & freely admitted you don't know much about a few. As for "I also only chose to do characters that I consider to be the main batfamily", It really doesn't matter who *you* consider the main ones are when you don't even (seem to) know (or care about) the full roster yet choose to rank "all" of them.
nah don't get me wrong man, no disrespect to cass was intended, she is a character that I really like, and just fyi this list isn't meant to be a "who is the best fighter" list or anything just my personal favourites, I definitely want to read more comics she is involved in.
Yeah I probably should have mentioned that show, I watched it when I was a kid and remembered likening it, I think I stopped watching it in season 3, I liked it’s take on Gordon, alfred, young Bruce, penguin and Jerome and jerimia(can’t remember how to spell his name lol) but I’m not sure if it’s a show I will ever go back and rewatch/finish.
@@GhostlyNest *Jeremiah Also, it was good until it started bringing Batman stuff in wholesale. Even when Batman isn't supposed to exist for over a decade they still found a way to make it all about him. The problem with this ultimately being that it killed off major antagonists like Black Mask, the Court of Owls, and even Ra's al Ghul before Batman even became a thing. Gotham should've stuck with the tone it had in the first season and a half.
