Michael Harris is something special and I still can't believe the Braves got him in the 3rd round. Wouldn't surprise me if him and JRod end up competing for the title of best center fielder for the next decade. I know making these lists have been hurting Marc. My guy has had to put a Brave as top 5 in every single one he's released so far, besides second base and shortstop (Vaughn is THAT guy offensively though). We all know where Acuna righteously deserves to be also, even if he had a down year because of injuries.
@Saintaholik

@metabreaker1185
@metabreaker1185 Год назад
Definitely top 5, but the ranking can fluctuate from year to year if someone’s having a career year or down year because RF is super loaded. With players like Judge, Soto, Harper, Betts, Acuna, it becomes a question of what have you done for me recently. That being said, I hope Acuna recovers from his ACL tear. I know some athletes that never regained their explosiveness so I really hope Acuna does.

How? They were similar with the bat,and on the defense,the only thing Harris does significantly better is base running. So while Harris was a bit better last year, Brandon Nimmo has only had an OPS+ lower then 130 once in the last five years. One year of Michael Harris being slightly better then Nimmo doesn’t mean it’s crazy to think that someone would have Nimmo rated one(1) spot higher. For all we know Harris could end up like Kyle Lewis.

Marc you can't say you have Nimmo in front of M. Harris bc of longevity and at the same time have J-Rod at 2 when Hariss and J-Rods numbers are very similiar. Also Harris is the youngest player in baseball. Nimmo should be 3 or 5 Regardless it's a knit pick, but I just felt I should disclose that info lol
@dontworryidontknowwhereyou7972
Nah the numbers between Harris and jrod are a lot different. J rod walked almost 200 percent of what Harris did still a very good player.
@Saintaholik
@Saintaholik Год назад
@dontworryidontknowwhereyou7972 Yes you are correct, yet their OBP nearly smiliar. Harris is the youngest player in baseball. He def needs to walk more but he's a 5 tool player, whereas J-Rod was taking base on balls. MHII was getting base hits. There's only a difference in 6 points in their OBP. MHII- 339 J-Rod- 345 Besides that, my point was if Marc is going to rank Nimmo ahead of MHII bc of "longevity" he can't then rank J-Rod 2 spots ahead of Nimmo when they were virtually the same player. With a couple minor differences. Like I said before, MHII is the youngest player in baseball, I would even argue that J-Rod and MHII are in the same godly tier when it comes to potential The only difference between J-Rod and MHII are that J-ROD was a top 5 prospect coming into the year with a lot of hype. Harris was a top 40 without much national hype. You wouldn't heard a peep out of me if Marc would have put Nimmo 3, J-Rod 4, and MHII 5. Even though I think both J-Rod and MH are better players then Nimmo If we're going off the premise of longevity then it has to apply for both young players not just one, only bc he plays on your biggest rival and the other is in the American League

IMO Michael Harris is going to be a superstar. He won rookie of the year after only playing after June 1st he's 21. MLB needs to promote this guy across the league because MLB has a shortage of American born black superstars. He can do it all and he does it the right way by outworking everyone. And he's playing for his hometown team so that's a marketable story too. But MLB has been given a gift with Julio Rodriguez and Michael Harris they need to do a better job of building stars like the NBA and the NFL do.

That's not Mets bias and a pretty reasonable take. Harris has only played 1 year and with some horrible plate discipline that could easily turn around with some bad luck. Nimmo is the total opposite type of player, his numbers don't jump off the page but he has absolutely elite discipline, not a ton of power. Since 2018 Nimmo is 6th in Obp (only behind Mike Trout, Juan Soto, Freddie Freeman, Bryce Harper, and Aaron Judge) and plays good defense. Harris has a way higher ceiling but needs to play another year first. Nimmo has been an on-base god for years now.

Fans of the center field position may appreciate this all-time ranking. WAR/162 helps us compare players from different eras who played radically different numbers of games: #1 Mike Trout (9.3), #2 Willie Mays* (8.6), #3 Oscar Charleston** (8.5), #4 Ty Cobb (8.1), #5 Turkey Stearnes** (8.1), #6 Joe DiMaggio* (7.8), #7 Tris Speaker (7.8), #8 Mickey Mantle (7.6), #9 Willard Brown** (7.6), #10 Cristobal Torriente* (6.5), #11 Billy Hamilton (6.4), #12 Pete Browning (5.6), #13 Larry Doby (5.5), #14 Benny Kauf (5.5), #15 Lip Pike (5.5). (*) I have slightly adjusted the WAR/162 for players who lost prime years to military service; why penalize them for their heroism? (**) I think Negro League stats are a bit inflated because NeL players who later played in the majors invariably had lower batting averages, suggesting NeL pitching and defenses were not quite as good as those in the majors. WAR/162 tells us that Mike Trout has been a top five player of all time when he has been able to play. Before Trout's injuries, he had the most WAR of any player at ages 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 27, if I remember things correctly. Think about it: over 20,000 men have played in the majors and Trout was better than ALL of them until he started to miss substantial games with injuries. Babe Ruth accumulated most of his positional WAR starting at age 24, so he didn't pass Trout age-wise until his thirties, or around age 28 if we include his pitcher WAR. -- Michael R. Burch

As a big Mariners fan I agree with Julio #2 and trout at #1 since Trout is still incredibly good, although Julio will take over #1, but yet again every time I see Trout play he is so good, and still kills the Mariners.

@Noah Gr… Brandon Nimmo is a good lead off hitter with minimum power . His defensive skills are suspect , with an arm that couldn’t throw out a 92 year old lady , will be taken advantage of by taking the extra base on him , and tagging on medium fly balls. So if that makes him a MVP , seeing Jesus won’t be impossible.
