This episode showcased your teams passion on bubbletea! Your description and experiences on these bubble tea were really a joy to watch esp for a fellow bubble tea lover! Pls do a part 2 on the smaller brands like Wobbee, Hollin, R&B etc!
Agree that liho's standard has gone down tremendously. In terms of consistency, koi is still the best. Chicha's tea is fragrant but it's the most expensive chain among all. Also fully agree with Jon that playmade's chrysanthemum milk tea is DA BOMB! I love playmade's homemade pearls - especially the grape one! 🍇
Playmade doesn't have the best milk tea, but the best pearls out of all the brands. Their fruit pearls (especially) Grape pearl is the best imo. When eat the pearl, doesn't feel as "cancerous" compared to standard black tapioca or golden pearls Hollins also have different flavored pearls but imo not as good as Playmade pearls
DO A PART 2 PLEASE!!! and another trying the various bbt brands around~ this was so fun to watch and i loved hearing all the opinions you guys had abt the bbt!! (p.s. playmade is superior
haven’t watched the video yet but the Chrysanthemum Milk Tea from Playmade is my absolute fave, will stand by it and always buy it! 25% is still quite sweet especially with my go-to Pink Cactus pearls though!
Playmade chrysanthemum milk tea 0% sugar with konjac pearl is the win for me - the burnt smell is the uniqueness. The same drink for me for every visit!
It's my first time seeing Jon talking about something so passionately and for so long. Please also consider doing a review of coffee like huggs, luckin coffee, starbucks etc.
I worked at koi before and they actually use powdered milk LOL but somehow it still tastes really good😭😭agree with Alison on koi’s green milk tea my favourite drink🥺
current favourites are definitely playmade and chicha! playmade grape yakult green tea with grape pearls is the goat. honourable mention goes to chagee and hollin, and there was a period i was quite fond of the alley too
Chi cha used to be very good when they first arrived in SG but the standard dropped drastically recently; no tea taste, cold ice drink not cold, a bit warm. Cck n woodlands mrt outlet sucks.
DailyKetchup team, you all should try R&B Tea (Parkway Parade Branch). I always like the 0% sugar Mighty Luffy Fruit Tea with less yuzu. It comes with watermelons to eat and other fruits inside. Refreshing. Love the tea taste of Dao Hong Pao Latte with cream with some crunchy bits on top from “Little Red Dot Tea” at Kinex. But I think this brand already closed down. Recently, tried the new drink, Orh Nee Rice Milk Tea at Koi The (100AM). The taro gao gao. Shiok. 😄 Will one day need to try the ovaltine! Need to have second round rankings, you all need to visit other underrated bubble tea shops. 😂
Milk Tea my top choice is The Alley. Chi cha, Playmade, Koi then the others. Gong Cha when first started is more natural than artificial. Have my favourite Longang red date tea which they removed. Liho now is very artifical.
Liho keep changing their menu. My friends and I all stop going to Liho because our favourite drinks were removed from the menu one by one over the years.
It really depends what you enjoy in a bubble tea. Chicha has the best tea without a doubt. Osmanthus oolong mango(not milk) 0 sugar, the most fragrant tea. If you like pearls, go playmade. The best way to judge a bubble tea is by its queue 😂. Nobody returns to a bbt shop on hype.
So true, chicha should be at S tier itself for true bubble tea because I actually can taste the tea in it. All other ones they mentioned are just milk water
Chi cha San Chen is pronounce as Chi Cha San "Qian" in Chinese. They are one of the best in SG for the fragrant of the Tea, but for Bubble Milk Tea wise I would not say is the best as the Tea is stronger and in combination, feels more like Tea milk than Milk tea.
HeyTea is the best now. But they took away the superb taro tea that comes with thick warm taro paste. Bring it back! Lino old dahong pao was a highlight they also removed it! Remember Agen tea?they were real good too
Koi is a taiwan brand by 50岚 in Taiwan. Gongcha used to be a Taiwan brand until it was bought over a Korean company. That leads to the change in franchise in Singapore as the franchise rate went up. LiHo almost appear overnight and took over almost all the Gongcha. Gongcha used to be in capital letter until it is now rebranded by gongcha (all in small letters). The current gongcha is now run by Mr Bean.
I’m so glad I met some mates here that appreciate Playmade. Another bubble tea that is worth a try is 霸王茶姬. Not cheap but the tea is so smooth and fragrant. I usually just have my bubble tea with toppings but BWCJ tea is enough without any toppings. Sidenote: Dan’s dad joke game is getting strong
It’s not just Jurong West branch. Chi Cha in general is good! Their tea is really good quality and I also order 0% sugar all the time. I think Alison’s taste got problem lol 100% sugar still taste like water?! Or maybe like they say Tampines outlet got problem
@@surelynodoubt probably the outlet… haha. But yes Chicha has always been good, but i say JW cos yknow some people just dont think so. Also i think most people’s tastebuds got problem when they consume too much sugar it actually dulls their tastebuds (actually had scientific studies behind it) Reminded me of a 9gag skit about bbt and one of them said if you order bubble tea with 0% sugar it tastes like water, might as well dont order.
@@surelynodoubtlol I always ordered 0% and the pearl sweetness is enough to make the milk tea taste good. If she ordered 100% and still can't taste anything, she better go get her tastebud check already
my fav is chagee 👌👌👌👌👌 fav of ALL TIME!! Used to love gongcha long time back but agreed that standards had dropped. playmade was one of the my fav too xD
my must-go-to: playmade earl grey milk tea + black sesame pearl 0%. So sad now they don’t have earl grey Liao. The aroma from earl grey is woah, just like how Jon describes😂
My go to; Koi - Hazelnut Milk Tea, No topping, 0% PlayMate - Rice Milk Tea, Sesame Pearl, 50% LiHo - Cheezo Milk Tea (Some how they removed from menu liao......) / Mango Delight
Tried today after john paul talk so much! Damn It’s so nice bro!!! The chrysanthemum milk tea is fking good! The aroma is really there! Cant wait to test other flavour!
Last time koi use to sell matcha.. the matcha its REAL matcha... its sooooooo nice... of cos they also have other drink its nice too... Refreshing drink got grapefruit greentea!their macchiato series is nice too
does anyone remember the OG bubble tea store in clarke quay wayyy back in early 2000s? it was a little sit-down cafe which served drinks with whimsical names in glasses, along with taiwanese snacks like 鹽酥雞etc.... used to be SUCH a treat for me when we went there!
The LIHO claim is so real I got so upset after winter melon milk tea disappeared (I always got it even tho it was excessively sweet and I cldnt select sugar % cuz it was js that good) + cheezho disappearing too now I can’t even drink LIHO anym cuz it’s so bad now
You guys need to do a Part 2 WITHOUT leaving out other big bbt chains like R&B, HeyTea and ChaGee. Please go try them and rate them altogether again. I recommend the creme brûlée brown sugar milk tea from R&B, green tea with cheese cap from HeyTea and any of the milk teas from ChaGee! Go try
This year's pipagao campaign was way too short. KOI no longer selling pipagao drinks by mid-April... And I think they also cut down on the amt of pipagao in each drink. The drinks didn't hv that cool minty aftertaste anymore. Huge disappointment. 😭
Y’all need to blind taste test to verify if this is an accurate ranking My personal FAV Hollin (RSM series) , Chicha (国王奶茶), The Alley (No.9 milk tea), R&B, 我爱台妹. Side note, Koi’s new low fat series kicks ass !!!
i asked Liho why they changed their menu, they said it was because of the Nutrigrade rating :/ the timing was almost at the same time too when this was rolled out
I am with Alison toooooo on Chi Cha! I have tried Chi Cha at least 4-5 times, across different outlets but it just taste diluted, the tea taste is sooooo faint and it cost so much more than other brands..
Use to love chicha a lot but i find their standard had drop ..koi still better got honey green tea and hazelnut milk tea. I prefer their OGs then the seasonal ones.
I feel like Liho standard is very outlet dependant, some outlet tasted good. Nex outlet taste horrible. the real underrated gem for me is At tea, genmaicha or chrysanthemum
