I think Thaumaturge is the most difficult to initially comprehend mechanically, because they are so unique. That said, if you play one to level 4 or 5, you can easily cruise control them like most other martials-- Once you're over the initial hurdle of comprehending the class, it's easily B tier drunk-difficulty. Fight me irl.

This is a good point, it's one of the few classes we haven't played yet. But in combination with it's other class abilities, it's definitely not B tier, maybe it claws it's way into bottom C?

@goblinsalvagerites I can see that. They are hard to place, but you can definitely down a few Mimis and play effectively. They might need to leave the houseparty around 12am.

Thaumaturge was my first class, and it's honestly really easy. Exploit the guy you want dead (usually the beefiest looking one,) Stride, Strike. Close to 'em? Strike, Strike. Maybe before that, Demoralise or Mirror or whatever. But it's not necessary. And if you have Diverse Lore, just utter out "Lowest save?" At random intervals when initiative turns to you and usually it'll all just work out

and thaum is definitely easier than alchemist/investigator/inventor. harder for the DM, but at the table, the only difficult thing is tracking extra damage per hit. it doesn't matter what damage type, because of EV.

Disagree hard on Thaumaturge - it is not the hardest because you don't have the action economy problems of summoner, the did I prepare the right bombs and elixirs of the alchemist, or the curse tracking of an oracle.

Depending on the Implement you chose it can definitely bog down the class in addition to the exploit vulnerability shenanigans. It might claw it's way out of D tier.

@@goblinsalvageritesI honestly have no idea where you guys are getting D tier from. I just went over every single implement and none of them add any significant complexity. _Maybe_ Mirror? But not really. Thaums are basically just weird Rangers. You Hunt Prey, flavour it as you screaming POCKET SAND!! or something, and then ignore everything else until the guy's dead. Have a reaction implement? If you have Amulet or Bell, watch if they attack. If you have Weapon, it's just Reactive Strike. Have an action implement? Wand is a pain in the ass, sure, but it's usually just a ranged cantrip. Mirror's just "I flank," and Chalice is either temp hp or Lay on Hands. Passive implement? Even easier. Lantern does fuck all, Tome gives you a +1 to Recall Knowledge, and Regalia's for the other people to worry about. You have two of these total *maybe.* Usually one. Three if you're unlucky. I've once played Thaum on pbp while playing timed Codenames with my friends on discord, and it was just piss easy. And I had to type out every action I was doing, and insert flavour text

Juat built Way of Drifter Gunslinger, and my gameplan for every round should change depending if I need to reload(do i do running reload, do i do strike reload). And if if im alrady loaded, need to think how to increase chsnce of critting with firearm, demoralize, create diversion, hide. After I shoot do I move for melee, consider flanking, consider tripping enemy.

HARD disagree on Thaumaturge, it was the second class I played in pf2e, after fighter, I didn't find it to be MAD or particularly hard to understand, when you take in to account how easy it is to recall knowledge they're are an absurdly powerful class. The features aren't that hard to comprehend in a world full of magic, and I'm an idiot that is irresponsibly stoned when we play.

@@goblinsalvagerites No I meant the ones you had to add to the list that weren't there got shifted to the end so they were out of alphabetical order. But I was wondering (and joking) that if you went through backwards if you would come to different conclusions on where the classes landed compared to each other based on your soberness. Doing it backwards you'd discuss Thaumaturge sober and Barbarian while more drunk

Idk ranger looks more easy than fighter. It's like barbarian with it's loop. Mark target go hit it. Flurry ranger can be the same tier as barbarian

When you add in the complication of having the animal companion, definitely becomes more complicated than the fighter. Fighter is complicated in character creation because you have a lot of options to choose from, but when you sit at the table, you really don't have that many options to choose from until like 10th or 12th level.

@@goblinsalvagerites but you dont have to have a pet. Idk i hate animal companions so never took them. I guess if you draw middle line trough every build than yes, rangers are more complicated (but that's the reason it's my favorite class second to alchemist, you can squeeze out a lot of builds out of them)

What is the "right way" to build a swashbuckler you mention? What are these "core ways" you can start to break the game with swashbucklers you mention? Playing one now...

Battledancer + acrobatic performer allows you to dump cha and focus on just Dex.

@@goblinsalvagerites Yeah, I saw that when I was making mine. It is strong, but dumping cha for a little more con and strength didn't fit my vision and there's actually a lot you can do with the perform skill on its own if you have a free bard archetype.

I’m doing an Unbreakable goblin with bouncy goblin feat fencer swashbuckler with the Dandy free archetype. My tumble throughs are boosted and so are my feints.
