The Series X has a monolith-like presence that I love, and the Series S is a minimalist throwback to the designs of Dieter Rams (From whom Apple has taken all their design inspiration). It has a modern sculpture-like appearance to it when in the vertical position.
PS4 OG is S tier. A perfect call back to the PS2 while still being a standout on its own. I love the 2 tone/material design, the angular shapes, and the blue light down the middle. Easy S tier.
ps4 pro is more premuim looking because of the matt and the silver colored ps4 logo at the top. love it. the OG ps4 is just cheap looking with the glossy cheap plastic at the top. the Wii is the best and ps1
@andrer4508 general concensus is that the Pro had too many layers. Didn't feel more or less premium to me. The minimal gloss on my ps4 og stayed scratch free. I'd agree the wii in white or black is goated
I love my ps5 but I think they were trying way too hard with the design. That thing looks ridiculous and needing the stand to lay it down is super annoying.
Always liked the GameCube, small and modular, different ad ons and controller accessibility, cd tray on top and opens like a cd player, the handle for traveling with it
@@SadCaligulathat’s because your a child😂 the ps2 og was a great looking console that nearly every console since has tried to live up to. It is factually the gold standard of game consoles, and that can actually be proven with math.
ps3 slim is S rank, just dones everything right ultimately pretty simple but nice matte black with physical buttons and a curve to keep it interesting.

They didn't sell the xbox 360 and ps3 redesigns as "you should replace your original xbox with this newer version" the way the One S & X were sold as "you should upgrade to this one its the next level up". The 360 and ps3 redesigns were sold as just what the consoles look like now for anyone new who's buying it.
One thing they didn't mention with the Sega Genesis is how great it looks with the cartridge in it. A Genesis with Sonic the hedgehog in it is a classic look. I don't think there's any other console that has the game set so closely related to the look of the actual console. S tier

You guys really need to add the versions of consoles that had a significant redesign. The PS3 Slim and Super Slim were significantly different from the original PS3. I'm sure there would be several other consoles that have similar design overhauls.
Wii is absolutely S tier just for the glowing blue disc drive that would pulsate to let you know that a friend had left a note on the calendar asking if you want to play mario kart or that "you suck" or even an update. And the hidden Gamecube controller ports!?!? Omg it was perfect and that little green/orange power button light is chefs kiss mwahhhh.
The Commodore 64 home computer and the Commodore 64 console are two different things. The image on the tier ranking is the console, while the image you guys pulled up separately is the home computer; two different systems.
1:09:06 i was blindsided by what Tim said on the show on Wednesday. i would never condone anti-Dreamcast speech or encourage slander of that console's glorious game library in any form. after much reflection, i no longer feel it is appropriate to continue to defend Tim at this time, and all Tim-centric entertainment is now on hold. i am grateful to Sega fans for their support and understanding. 🙃
Andy consistently has the thoughts that I seem to mostly align with here and he seems to remove himself from bias and nostalgia best, like with the Wii U rating.
Watched this live and still can’t believe the madness that unfolded. We got lost after the GameCube generation, the PS2 was ranked S Tier on nostalgia alone, no Famicom on the list was insane. Also the Genesis deserved S rank and we all know it.
You guys did the Dreamcast really dirty. There is no way it should be in C tier. A at the very least but I’d put it in S. Clean looking, simple design, perfect size, everything. C tier and PS5 in A tier? Lmfaooooo
This list is pretty bad, PS2 in S tier for appearances is almost as atrocious as PS5 in A tier. OG Xbox and Xbox 360 should both be moved a tier up, the 360 is better looking than any other non-Nintendo console. Wii and GameCube are the top two for sure but I also think Genesis should be up there, and PS4 is also understandable as S tier.
SNES is S-tier, best looking console of all time. It made the Super Famicom look like a piece of trash in comparison. And since you ignored your rule about not talking about controllers, its the only console that ever had concave X and Y buttons and it was the best thing ever for platformers. Sega Genesis is a low C.
Wii was the one console where it could be on your tv stand, on your desk heck even sitting loosely on your balancing on text books and still look just as cool and good as it did in the highly produced marketing images in a magazine or online, its that pretty irl.
The Genesis Gen 2 is still a sexy beast. It is the Knight Rider of video game consoles so minimal and sleek. The Gen 1 Genesis looked nice back in the day but it looks dated to me now. I was a Sega kid too.
The original Xbox One release was way too big and looked outdated like a VCR. The S was great and the X more sleek than the S, they were great. Since they are only ranking original release of the consoles I agree though the launch One sucked.
1. You reall can't look at the Jag without including the CD player because thats what half of the design is for... and it's embarrassing. Pure F-tier. 2. At the same time, you guys did the TurboGrafx dirty by including it with the non-duo CD setup. On its own, it's not that bad. 3. PS5? *facepalm* 4. I would have put the Gamecube at the tippy top and I'm glad it got close. 5. Series X may be boring but it's the only one shaped the way it is almost entirely for function (aside from the Vectrex, I guess). Engineering-wise, it's kind of brilliant.
PS2 Slim is better looking than OG PS2 and ps2 is an A tier, it looked too busy with the all the ports and buttons everywhere and the blue box looked bad. PS2 slim was so crisp and clean and so so smol :D
Gamecube is the world's coolest Fisher Price product. King of B-Tier with "A-Tier energy". It's never been peak. It's like when the nerd gets a makeover but then afterwards settles for a happy practical medium, N64 but not embarrassing. Genesis is King of C-Tier. It punches up with unintentional swagger. Think Jack Black in Anchorman. Nothing else is that wild on this list. PS1 is maybe bottom of A-Tier, it's as slick as a console could possibly be for it's time but it's missing something. I'd like to think the Xbox's in general could be higher. I'd probably defend PS5 more than most but the plate fins look cheap, especially with white on black - a black PS5 could do A for me. Series S could go F or S, I have no idea, it's confusing to look at.
