My personal perspective of all the Dark Souls Remastered Bosses ranked from easiest to most difficult. A lot of the opinions come from a combination of early experience and having ran the games for greater challenge. @MrJordwalk
@MrJordwalk 3 года назад
Thankfully, Manus can be cheesed. Get the Hawk Ring, upgrade a Bow to +10 or higher (I usually use the Composite or Pharis Black Bow), buy 300 Feather Arrows and snipe him from outside the Boss Fog. I beat him the normal way the first time I fought him, but have cheesed him ever since because he's BS. He doesn't only attack relentlessly, he also continues doing damage to you when you're on your back and that makes the fight unfair IMHO. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WMW59zNNeX4b.html

I was told Capra Demon would stop me in my tracks, but I beat him first go. The same person then told me that I must have been overpowered for that area... that was my introduction to souls fan mentality 🤡 Different builds and different playstyles produce different results with different bosses, which is great because it means that at some stage you will most likely have to adapt your playstyle. Ceaseless discharge should be at the bottom of every single list though, since all you need to do is shake his hand.

Not gonna lie, I didn't know there was a ladder in Taurus Demon's arena for a long time, and I played the games in reverse (3 -> 2 -> 1). Going from the high-speed of everything in 3, and slowing down to the pace of 1, it was actually a challenging fight. But I agree that it is a solid early boss that forces you to really learn to play the game am its slower and more measured pace - Asylum Demon really is just "get behind it, and roll when it wants to butt slam you", which just isn't enough.

Manus was by far the hardest for me when playing through the first time. To be fair, I was crippling myself by only using 10 +1 estus (cause I was an idiot) during the fight and mid-rolling. He took me about 2 hours while all the other boss fights at most took me 2-4 tries. It’s definitely a very subjective topic though. I believe most people will have a similar-ish top 10, but the top 3 has big potential to be vastly different amongst other people. My brother, for example, beat Manus first try but was decimated by Stray Demon…while I kicked his AOE spamming ass first try lmao. It’s all about your experience, play-style and perception. After spending hundreds of hours playing DS1 over the last 10ish years, I've decided that Manus is the hardest boss. His attacks are relentless and he has a bunch of moves that you need to watch for. Plus he has a ton of health (WAY more than Gwyn), and can't be parried. I honestly think of Manus as a sort of alternative final boss, representing darkness and humanity, acting as a foil to Gwyn who represents gods and light.

I just completed DS last week, killing every bosses for the first time, after having played through Bloodborne, Sekiro and DS3 multiple times in the last year and a half, and having completed DS2 one time. I have to say that in over 600 hours of Fromsoft games, the first few hours of DS were the only times I felt frustrated. There was a lot of bullshit here and there that you mentioned and I did not enjoy much, except Sif, Sen’s Fortress and the Tombs of Giants. The DLC was fun too, but damn Manus did beat my ass. After I couldn’t time the rolls correctly every time, I tried to get the pendant to help me with the magic attacks. Looking on the net, I figured it was not surprising I hadn’t find it earlier (an invisible wall unlocked by casting a light in an area which is well-lit). I had sold my bug helmet for some souls after I cleared the tombs of giants, so no light there. I also exchanged the lanterns for the fog ring, so not that way neither. And I had killed that mushroom lady from a distance with like two arrows, thinking it was a monster, so she couldn’t sell me the light spell. I resigned to learning how to dodge every spell. After so many deaths, and thinking I couldn’t do it, I decided to go for the ninja roll ring to see how little it would help. I got him down to one hit that try, and killed him easily the attempt after. So weird that dodging feels wrong in this game, and that the ring that makes dodging intuitive and closer to the other games is from speaking to a cat hidden in the forest and then pushing a ninja down a cliff. Kalameet was a blast with that ring too, took me three tries. It was the best boss in this game. (Also I never summon, those that summon must have a different take on difficulty I guess).

Rolling only has 4 directions in ds1 which is why it felt weird to you. My first play though of this game has been so weird compared to most others I feel. Since I played Elden Ring first, which is what got me into souls, this game was pretty easy. I took the 4 Lord Souls in just 2 sessions and beat Quelaag, Seathe, Nito, and Sanctuary Guardian, on my first attempt. I have a feeling it’s because when I got to Nito and Seathe, it took so long to get to them, that I knew I couldn’t run back and it would have to be first try. I literally randomly guessed the to hit Seathes crystal because idk gamer instincts. All of this isn’t to say I’m good or better than anyone. I think it’s remarkable that by already having an idea of what the game was going to be about and what approach to take to things it made it so much easier. If dark souls had been my first, I would’ve been just as lost as when I first entered Limgrave, but that background context goes such a long way. For me, the top tier in the series for SL1 from easiest to hardest is: 5. Four Kings (when you SL1 at around NG+2, it gets rough) 4. Smough and Ornstein 3. Demon in Pain and Demon From Below 2. Soul of Cinder 1. Manus Father of the Abyss Honorable Mention: Friede and her 3 phases P.S. I never felt comfortable to use the pendant in the Manus fight, so that might have affected the difficulty for me. It felt like any mistake in positioning, stamina, or movement would lead to death, once he started unleashing his magic. The latter two thirds of it were stressful enough that Manus was the only boss I felt I could only beat in hypermode (and with a decent pattern). I could rant about why Manus is so difficult but I don't think it really matters here. He was challenging in a way that was fun/enjoyable to deal with, but it was more like "oh thank god, it's finally over." I think Friede is the BEST boss which is also very difficult, because she is fun to fight and shares player mechanics. Being able to stagger her consistently means you can be aggressive and play your game to an extent. It doesn't just feel like sitting around and waiting for punishes.

I absolutely agree with Gwyn at No. 1. I just recently beat DS1 for the first time about 6 months ago, and even Artorias felt more doable at first (shout out to Havel Poise and the Dragon Tooth two handed roll attack) but Gwyn absolutely gave me the most trouble. His fast slash is impossible to react to, but if you hold up your shield, you might be able to parry the second hit. If you do hold up your shield, however, prepare to be grabbed and your face pumped full of fire. If you try to heal behind pillars, his insane range from his sword or the almighty Gwyn Leap of Death slaughters you. I died to Gwyn probably twice as much as Artorias, because I could at least place my shots with him. Also this content is great Squilla, definitely had to pause because I was laughing too hard at Spidermelons. Well done.

I'm actually REALLY glad you put Gwyn at number 1. He is by far my hardest boss still. Everyone always says "oh he's easy, just parry him", but there's so many inconsistencies in trying to parry him due to the wide variety of delays on his different attacks and the only safe time to heal is during the grab attack normally. I died to him like 50+ times over the course of over 2 hours on my last SL 1 run, by far the most of any boss in the game.

Honestly, nothing was ever as hard as Manus in the Dark Souls trilogy though a few did come close. Manus had a variety of different moves that look similar, but have different timings, and generally all of these moves chain to other moves as well which means that you don't have to dodge precisely once, but dodge precisely multiple times in that given moment. He also has an insane combo that is very difficult to dodge since its wind-up is very quick. Manus literally ate my ass inside out, especially on NG+.

Just finished it yesterday. As a veteran of two Monster Hunter games(definitely a different ball game, but somewhat similar in premise), I had some experience coming in. The hardest boss for me was absolutely Artorias. Even Havel’s armor can’t tank him out when he’s fully powered up. Ornstein and Smough gave me the next amount of trouble, and then Kalameet and Seath were probably tied, as it took me about four tries each to get.
@rohitchaoji
@rohitchaoji 4 месяца назад
I don't know why but Seath has usually been pretty easy for me. I stick to his left tentacle where it doesn't trigger his tail/tentacle swipe attack, and just lay it on it. You also stay out of range of his cursed crystal beam or whatever if you stick to the very edge of his left tentacle and never go behind it. If you go behind the tentacle and towards the tail, he'll do that wild swiping attack. Of course, this method means that you can't go for the Moonlight Greatsword, if you play it this safe.

I had played DkS so much when the DLC launched so I could manage those bosses pretty well, but they probably would have murdered me otherwise... I found that lots of players struggled with the fire lady-spider in the swap so it became one of my go-to--places for soul farming. I just joined other players and killed her over and over until I learned her well enough to never take damage from her. It might not have been the most effective way to farm souls, but it was way more fun than the other known methods.

I ended up having absolutely no trouble with Gravelord Nito or Demonfire Sage on my first playthrough with no hints. On Demonfire Sage, he was just a carbon copy of Aslyum Demon and Stray Demon, and I had no problem avoiding his attacks. For Gravelord Nito, when I first killed the skeleton adds and saw they'd probably be respawning, I made sure to kill them all well away from Nito, then hit Nito a few times, then run away as the skeletons respawned, kill them away from Nito, and repeat. It didn't take that many cycles, and I don't think I was ever close to dying. I may not have even needed to heal, but I probably did at least once. Seath is also really easy if you don't try to melee. I had trouble figuring out how to get to the immortality switch originally, but once I hit it, I just kept away from him and shot him with my crossbow. I guess I should probably mention that I tried to stay at range and shoot with the crossbow for pretty much every boss, since I had a terrible time trying to avoid attacks while in melee range - trying to practice to roll to avoid attacks when the death runs are as long as they are just didn't seem to be a good use of time compared to being a coward and using a ranged weapon. On O&S I eventually managed to kill Super Ornstein by taking out most of his life while he was stuck wanting to exchange ranged attacks, so I just dodged and kept shooting until something broke him out of the loop and I had to figure out how to not die while taking out his remaining health. Maybe Smough is easier in Super Mode, but in my attempts I always fared much worse with that so I focused on killing him first; I probably managed better on Ornstein since he had the chance of getting stuck wanting to do ranged attacks. I never thought about trying to plunge attack Taurus Demon after the first time I climbed the tower to kill the Hollows there, when he climbed up before I finished killing them. I probably had time on future attempts, but I was too scared to try, thinking he was going to be jumping up just as I got to the edge and before I could plunge. Based on number of attempts and how well I did during them, I'd say the hardest was Four Kings, then O&S, then Sif. I never found the Gwyn- boss you fight in the long corridor in Anor Londo, nor did I find how to access the DLC, so I can't rate them. I'll need to be out of new games to play before I ever come back and try again, and that's very unlikely to happen given my backlog.

I also only tried parrying Gwyn once, and when I failed, stopped trying and just spammed R1 with +15 Partizan with shield up and Green Blossom active (same as Five kings). Five Kings was easy with that strat (though it took a long time for me to find it), and Gwyn was a bit harder, but once I decided I learned enough about the fight to make powering through it with Green Blossoms like with Five Kings, I think I killed him immediately.
