MTBMB is definitely better than Recovery. Not above the new one though. There isn't a single song on there as impressive as guilty conscience 2 artistically imo
Nah the mmlp is a literally masterpiece. He still had some of the rawness there. It's untouchable, the response to fame and his world turning upside down is just amazing. TES is fine, he raps well but the anger and fury on mmlp is so good. Also the bars are many orders of magnitude better than those on tes
@@soup8786 I agree on everything you mentioned, though you've being focused on him as a rapper. I agree that Eminem is at his peak during MMLP. The rawnace, the cynism etc. However when we talk about overall album experience, TES had better SONGS. Better content, more veraity, a wider set of emotions. MMLP Eminem was a crazy rapper but the album itself is kind of a gimmick, most of the album is based on shock value. When I play The Eminem Show is much of a different, more rich experience for me. Almost every song on TES is S tier IMO, and the minority are A tier. I can't say it about any other album from any artist honestly. Not only the songs are legendary, they work together extremely well and there is some narrative and a journey you experience through it. MMLP doesn't have as nearly of a replay value as TES, shit I play MMLP2 much more times than MMLP, it's just a more limited experience
@ROI684 I strongly disagree, there is more off a theme and message on thr mmlp than TES. 1. Kill you is a shock rap song, but it has to be as the opener to set the tone of how he is responding to the criticism from the media. 2. Stan is his greatest piece of art, a concept song with amazing sample. We see into the mind of a man who is finding out how scary being famous can be and how obsessed people can get. It says a lot about fame which is the overall theme of the record. 3. Who knew, we get marshal's point of view on the last two years, the tone of sarcasm is strong here, its flips it on the critics and actually makes some really valid points towards parents and who the music was intended for. 4. The way I am, well we get a the rage the anger the bitterness, his most passionate song he ever wrote. Everything is laid out here, one of the best tracks on the record in terms of emotion. 5. The real slim.shady, we get the sequel to my name is, the a destruction of industry plants, the best flow of his career for smoothness, the patterns are all over the show. A technical rhyming masterclass and also hilarious. Irony because its the most pop beat on the record but also the most technical and is destroying pop music artists. 6. Remember me, raw outright bar contest, all 3 kill it with different takes on this beat. 7. I'm back, this song thematically is the most redundant but the beat is fire the bars are insane it's 3rd verse about columbine is one of the most risky things he ever did. 8. Marshall mathers, he is expressing the feeling of being exploited and used, how everyone comes around for a piece of him. 9. Drug ballad is a sequel to come on everybody, a honest song though about what we know would go on to be the beginnings of a long struggle for him. 10. Amityville is the song I like the least and skip not much to say here. 11. Bitch please 2 is the obligatory aftermath song promoting the label. But absolute party banger 12. Kim is just fucked lol 13. Under the influence, we get the d12 song, absolute banger 14. Criminal is my personal favourite, taking every accusation of bigotry and saying the worst stuff possible in an obviously sarcastic manner, it rounds off the record where it started, he is going to be himself no matter what.

I don't have the energy to get into analyzing and I guess we just have different perspective, that's cool I'm glad that you deeply relate to it. I mostly like MMLP for the cynical and over the top parts, I love it's energy, but that's about it. However I do encourage you to dive deep into the themes of The Eminem Show, IMO this is the most mature, bold and important Eminem has ever been in his career. And also the most fun in a way
@ROI684 I like tes, but dad's gone crazy, white America and square dance are just horrible and drips and say goodbye Hollywood are mid at best. Sing for the moment is OK but it's weak lyrically. I think like 4 songs on it are of the level of mmlp. The rest of it wouldn't make the cut on that album.
I think TES is better than MMLP2, but MMLP2 is a great album with almost no misses and introduced me to Eminem and has Kendrick Lamar in it so it holds a special place in my heart

the eminem show is probably his best album in terms of creativity and execution of storytelling and slim shady antics. It has personal songs, motivational songs, silly lewd songs, and some of his best hits. MMLP is his best album in terms of lyrics, depth of themes, features, etc. Both have to be in top 2 with SSLP following.
Mmlp creativity is miles ahead of tes. Stan alone trumps all of tes in terms of concept. He has better flows and bars on the album but stan is his contribution to the history of music overall. Its one of the most creative warnings about fanaticism and obsession you will hear in music. His flows on this album is a massive step up from tsslp. He will never write bars that good again.

Not really tbh relapse is lyrically better and has some genius rhyme schemes and good beats too. It has funny moments but still a firm delivery of lyrics
No it's not it has way better beats and Eminem was displaying some of his most creative and impressive flows and rhyme schemes to date and if you're a fan of horrorcore it's one of the most entertaining albums you can find in the sub genre
Relapse is a billion miles better than Recovery. It has some of Em's best beats of all of his songs. Rhyme schemes on songs like 3am and Stay Wide Awake are 2nd to none.
I'm glad to see people feel the same in the comments. TES was so good, easily my second after MMLP, and that's only because of how wild MMLP was. TES was the perfect version of the all-round rapper Eminem IMO. He should have stayed on that trajectory and he wouldn't have had that huge fall off period of Encore/Curtain Call.
