That's kinda dumb. Level design alone isn't what makes a level good, it's how you as the player can interact with that design. What constitutes good or bad level design is entirely dependant on those external features, such as move sets, physics and polish. That's the entire reason different games have different design philosophies- any Mario level ever made would suck in sonic generations. If I gave you a sandwich that had been dropped into a puddle, it doesn't matter how much of your favourite condiments there are or how fresh the bread was, you're not going to eat that. Sure, the puddle wasn't exactly supposed to be part of the sandwhich and it could be a great sandwich if I hadn't dropped it in a puddle, but I did, and now the sandwhich has puddle in it.
@@Thatguy-qk1li By that logic, half of the states ranked here shouldn’t even be here. Ocean palace has plenty of water included in its design, in addition to the cool floating turtle part.
I was wondering why Emerald Coast was skipped over...got me on it! Nicely done 😀 Small tweak, I would absolutely have Modern Seaside Hill in Generations be second instead of third, definitely beating any 2D beach stage, though Water Palace is certainly a huge vibe, ESPECIALLY the music.
Whoever says jungle joyride isn't a beach has a rat brain because a island has a Beach on it a beach has a jungle in it it'll be like saying a house isn't a house because it was made out of wood compared to bricks it's still a house it's just made from different material
What I will say about your criticism of Emerald Coast, with the collision and such, these are issues that are either exclusive to or much more severe in the DX port. You will not clip through the wall before the loop on the Dreamcast version or with the Dreamcast conversion mod on the PC and the Dreamcast version of the stage looks so much better imo (as does the Dreamcast version looks better in general)
