@@phantomask well her supposed stylist scammed and completely left her with no outfits made just weeks or month(not sure) before the season started so they had to make her fits rushed. I am not exactly accurate with this information but there's a post in twitter talking about it. The same stylist has scammed Pangina before too.
Down under being higher then germany and brasil just prove how yall just watch the english speakers franchises lol they were waaayyy better and with really least money
@@illhavecake773 yeah i get it but i cant see a single reason for a people to vote for DU besides the non english speakers franchises… pls canada is really messy lol Philippines france spain all are waayyyy better even with those last 2 franchises having 1 bad season canada had most of them being… questionable! Even icesis and JBC already spill how much the production rigged and is clearly seen… is just sad for those amazing international franchises that would never have this representation
Regarding Holland i will always say they got cancelled the exact moment they decided to send home Keta Minaj with 3 wins before the finale against a contestant who not only lost the lip sync but also shouldve been disqualified for breaking the rules
the fact that Fred has a tight personal connection to Vanessa makes my blood boil.. She should NEVER have been cleared to compete when her freind was the chief judge.
@@ZakhadWOW them being friends isn’t the problem. I mean Raja and Ru were friends before drag race was even created and I don’t think anyone nowadays would complain about Raja having competed on the show. The problem is when the friend is question blatantly breaks the rules and SHOULD be disqualified but is pushed to the finale anyway to the detriment of better, more deserving queens
WOW announced back in February that Brasil and Germany are definitely coming back. The problem was Paramount dropped all foreign made shows, not just Drag Race, in favour of US made shows. This has nothing to do with the success or otherwise of any particular show, it's because of takeover bids and the Philistines running Hollywood. Mexico had already been produced before Paramount pulled the plug but WOW have had to relocate production for Brasil and Germany now that Paramount's studios in Colombia will no longer be available which is probably why there's been a delay.
@@luisanaya6123 I've checked back and you're right they only mentioned Brasil and Mexico not Germany. I wonder how many viewers they got for Germany, I didn't see very much engagement for the series online. I hope there will be some announcements at Dragon.
I think the timing for Germany was off…if it had aired at a different time during the years it might have helped. I preferred it to Brasil. I just couldn’t get into Brasil.
It's wild to me that Thailand was the very first international spinoff and it ended up quickly fading into obscurity. Good to know it's coming back soon though!
Not really. There were no real streaming platforms like WOWP+ to watch Drag Race Thailand on for those living outside Thailand, at the time it came out. You had one person who would upload them online with subtitles on their Twitter account, but there was also no clear schedule of when those would come out. And ofc it took a while before there were more international shows, and World of Wonder started to see the value in putting them on their streaming platform. They did put Thailand on there, eventually, but the subs were not great either + they didn't exactly advertise it.
I don't think it's fair to say France has been hit by the curse. Season 2 has been so good season 3 feels kinda meh. But compared to most season 3, France is on the top (and the season has redeeming qualities for me).
Brazil lost me in the beginning, but is an Ok season. I think most people connected with the contestants in the end. The judges were fine too, the issue for me (as a Brazilian) was to see half of the cast being from Rio. It was clear that production was based on Rio like most of Brazilian mass media production and they didn't seem to search that much around the country when casting
TBH, i loved the Rio queens, but i really missed regional diversity no the casting, for me that’s one of the biggest potencials for the Brazilian franchise, the casting could have a much more bigger diversity on ethnicity, body types, drag styles, regions, etc. But let’s hope season 2 improves that.
About Belgium, As a Country, we have three regions that speak different languages. Because of that, only those fluent enough in french would be able to get on (for example Chloe or Susan weren't from the french speaking area). And I wouldve liked it more if France allowed Wallonia queens and that Holland had more Flemish queens
Exactly this. I’m from the Flemish speaking part and there are some amazing queens that weren’t able to participate because of the language. Also when drag race Holland was still on I can understand from the Holland pov that they would prioritize Dutch queens. Let’s hope that Holland will be back so they can participate too.
Yess so maybe if DRBE stays on we could like have one year a French speaking version then next year a Flemish version and so on. And for the hosts like Vanessa Van Cartier for the Flemish version and Edna Sorgelsen for the French one (Belgian queens for hosting please no more Canadian). Or bring back Holland because drag in Belgium is something to see !!!
I love Philippines definitely one the best! I have tried to watch as many international franchises Spain has great judges and incredible talent. Mexico is doing good Lolita should host solo.
I voted for USA, UK, Canada, Espana, and Holland. I think Canada has to be my favorite franchise though due to the iconic winners and great drama every season.
brasil and italia are incredible franchises! italia s1 was the messiest season ever but since then, season 2 and 3 were so damn great. priscilla got so much better after s1 and in season 3 she became one of the best hosts, she has so much heart and confidence and she is so political, she's probably the most politically active queen. she also has proven how much of a great host she is in the confrontation with sypario. brasil was so damn great and i really don't get why its so damn low
Germany was a mess, like a hot dump kinda mess! Not only did you knew from episode one on which queens would end up as the top 5, Yvonne and Loreley were the two you could be sure to get into top 4 which is why I said top 5, there were a LOT of weird decisions made all the way up to the final lipsync and the critiques all beeing against Pandora and her then... Winning?! The table climb wasn't really talked about on the episode itself and just later on brushed on and so on... Also I wasn't happy with the judges! Barbie was good but her beeing personal friends with Kelly and even having had a own TV show with her felt... Akward to say the least? And sometimes you couldn't shake the feeling that safed her once or twice. Gianni just said something that was... Meh. Nothing to work with really, just saying something to have said something. And Dianne Brill was at least a bit helpful but you could see her beeing stuck on the langue barrier more than once which was hindering her I'd feel. If they make a return, I'd hope for a different judge panel besides Barbie. Estefania Elisa for example was a really strong guest judge! Kudos to her!!
Yes Germany IS totally underrated. Barbie breakout was one of the best Hosts of all franchises, but Giovanni should Go. Pandora was also Not the right winner, which totally should be meta morkid, but besides that, really great Queens. Everyone was great casted and they slayed so hard .
The judging of the Italy franchise to me is kinda unfair, first season was rough bc reality tv in Italy is REALLY different from US, UK etc and they had a hard time adapting the format to it and Priscilla had the same problem Brooke had with C1 where the personality was off and unlikeable, but after that they stepped up the game and season 2 and 3 were improving a lot + Priscilla started being really appreciated both by italians and international fans as a host; also, she's a really good representation now not only because she's more polished but also bc she is VERY politically outspoken and she's always using her platform to uplift the italian drag scene which is not developed as other international scenes. I wish people would just let go of the messy crowning on s1 and stopped using that as a reason to underestimate and talk shit about DR Italy bc it was a HUGE platform for the italian scene and it being paused / cancelled it's a huge blow to the queens that really shouldn't be celebrated just because something about it was "messy"
@@claudionosotti8812 Italia 1's bad rep is not just the messy crowning. Bad editing, long episodes, lip sync for your disqualification.... and then lip sync as a bottom 2 later, the Luquisha Lubamba of it all (God bless her but to drag her all the way to top 4, give her Miss Congeniality and then say sit down). I loved all the queens of the season but the show ultimately let them down. Season 2 was a huge improvement (but wasn't anywhere near DR France 2 or other international seasons going into a second season). Still haven't finished season 3. A lot of great queens but the episodes are too long and a number of choices are strange. And yes, In now Melissa doesn't win. As an Italian American with family in Italy and some understanding of it's culture, I came in with doubts but had no idea what a mess it would be.
@@vinnym5607 I'm not saying it was a good season, it was a MESS and it was bad but I feel like Farida not winning was the reason why a lot of the viewers didn't forgive the whole season in the end. Unfortunately reality tv here is just messy and they tried to adapt drag race to that instead of following the franchise like other internationals season did, and that's also because drag in Italy was not really perceived as a profession or even a real art, so they tried to make it just another trash tv show to cater to the general public. That's why it was importat for the franchise to have other opportunities, drag was FINALLY becoming more recognized in Italy and to see a lot of fans happy bc Italia got cancelled is disheartening.
I think Espana might just be counting their All Stars season as season 4. I mean that's how most reality competition shows work, All Stars aren't usually a separate franchise but just special season that takes the place of a normal season. I think Drag Race and Project Runway are unique in that distinction. Like when Survivor did All Stars, that wasn't a separate franchise, it was just season 8 of the show.
@@BRANDONDEVON This is a genuine question, sorry if this comes across as sarcastic sounding, but was it actually filmed? I've tried researching it but the only information I can find about season 4 is a casting call that was put out almost a year ago. No other news that I can find, not even a casting announcement or promo material. There's definitely holes in my research as I don't speak Spanish and therefore I'm missing the majority of fan discourse, but I would hope that any major information would make it to the Reddit page at least. I think what was originally advertised as season 4 is now being called season 5 and All Stars took the place of season 4.
@@thomasdegroat6039Actually the season 4 was filmed a long time ago in 2023 and there is a cast and a lot of specullations about the season. Also the casting was opened in summer 2022. There are just a lot of things happening with production and the release date. First is that the showrunner from s3 and all stars was fired, and apparently they have brought back the showrunner form s1 and s2. Also considering that all stars españa started at january of this year, they had to reconsider the release date for season 4, because WOW needs to distribute all the seasons over the year (something similar happened with CVTWS1 and Canada S4). Another reason related with the announcement of season 4 is that Supremme Deluxe is competing in this moment in the reality show and singing contest Tu Cara Me Suena, which is produced by atresmedia (the same producers of drag race españa), and the emission of that contest ends this week, so probably the will announce the season the next weeks. By the way, we know that season 5 is a different season from season 4 because the casting was opened when all stars españa finished its emission.
I would put Philippines higher but overall agree with a lot of placements. I was nervous for Italia before it aired. I mostly loved season 2 but still haven't watched all of season 3. I hope we get Thomoaos (sp?) back.
Tommaso isnt back but he wasnt a good judge to begin with, hes hated here in italy because of things he has said in the past (transphobic, problematic in general), he was just a white gay that got on the show for the hype. Continue watching season 3! The queens are amazing and deserve the attention! 💕
@@vinnym5607 yeah snatch game wasnt that great this season, goes with the trend of modern snatch game being a flop across the franchise lol. Continue watching tho the rest of the episodes are better! Especially the dance episode thats right after. Ep 10 is another ?? moment for the judging but the ending is iconic ✨
Thanks Again Mera and Scarlett. I love your program, thought I’d try this tipping method instead of Venmo today. Since you use the IMDB ratings…could you do an in-depth explanation of how those are sourced/calculated? I’ve never understood where they are getting the data. Signed Math Dummy in Texas❤❤❤
So its not been confirmed that Drag Race Sweden is cancelled. SVT who is the production company laid most of their budget on Eurovision song contest this year. However the first season had low ratings in Sweden and I feel like just Sweden is too small. I would love a Nordic drag race or Northern Europe Drag race.
My least favourites are Italy and DU. I'm shocked to see Belgium that low, I'm just watching s1 and I'm living! As a mexican, I will say DRMX is def getting better, Valentina was good for the looks but the hosting and overall energy feels waaay better with Taiga.
For drag race france, the problem is the edit, that's why we can't really connect with the cast. In fact, the season came out with one month less of work than seasontwo, and, not because of the production but because of frane tv, the channel in france who have this show. They want all the shows to finish before the JO so, france's edit wash rush more quicly thn the other and this is where is the problem
Italy 💔 I hate how production messed up. The queen are so good and the trajectory even in production was going better. Season 1 is a mess. Season 2 was better and season 3 was great. 😭
Philippines probably would have been higher had they crowned Bernie during the finale. still not over that it was a perfect season with so much drama and heart and next level drag and they gave the crown to Kat Kat.
Exactly! Bernie was EVERYTHING! M1ss Jade So gave us LIFE. Arizona Brandy, Hana and ØV Cünt were exceptionally great Queens. They had so many to choose from, why her?!?😢
If we disregard her issue outside drag race, she’s really fierce queen. It is only unfortunate what she did but she’s already sorry for what she did and apologize so we can try to move on.
From an Aussie - The issues with Drag Race DU are 1. We don't have the designers who can turn looks in the 2 - 3 weeks the queens have to get their looks together. 2. As it's only on Stan, a streaming platform here the queens and the show only get a very small shout out on Channel 9 (who own Stan) once a year. Stan doesn't really advertise it either. 3. $30K prize money and 0 tours isn't worth it for most queens. 4. You've seen the tiny work room and stage with 0 guest judges.
I'm sorry but there must have been something lost in translation because some of the comedy challenges in Germany are my favourites. Barbie is HILARIOUS.
I have high hopes that Drag Race Brasil is gonna course-correct and maybe knock it out of the park on the second try. It has the potential to be a massive thing in the culture, but that first season was not it. The top girls barely hit 100k on instagram, which is crazy considering the drag celebrities we have here.
They’re doing a third season of Belgium but it will air later. Queens have begun receiving calls from the producers here in Belgium. But it will be the last one
Down under is so hated on but I don't understand why? I personally love a lot of queens from the casts of down under I really love Gabriella Labucci, Hannah Conda, and Yuri Guaii and the rest of course I like every queen but most notably those ones!
The first season is really the reason why. It put a bad taste in people’s mouth with the choices made by production and the controversial contestants. However - I agree I love the queens you mentioned and I really enjoyed S2 and parts of S3. I’m excited to see how the next season is!
Spain S2 was just outstanding. The talent show episode broke my brain it was soooo good! Loved Germany and enjoyed Belgium and Sweden too. So many great queens. The looks were 🔥 to me espically Spain and Germany. Much love to all the international queens ❤️
My take on Drag Race Germany and the winner: Okay, as someone who watched the whole series I'm a bit disapointed Pandora Nox won. Not because she is a cis woman, not at all! I just think she isn't the best possible winner. And yeah, I know the pitch forks are already beeing thrown and torches lit but hear me out! First things first: She is a really good drag queen and got her own way of doing it. So, not hating on her or anything, just saying my reasoning why I think someone else was a more suitable winner. She had not really a signature look. Her first looks all kinda were only naked and a lot of skin, even later you wouldn't have a silhouette and say, THAT is Pandora. There was her eye-make up but even that wasn't always there. Another point I'd make is that her outfits either went full on nude or hiding her femine side. Her last outfit was a cool concept with the armor and the pink tull but it lacked a bit of a shape in the tull itself. It looked more like the tull wore her and the armor not the other way around. I was lacking the thing I had with other queens like Metamorkid or Ivonne where if I'd see the outfit without the queen, I'd still could pin point out whose outfit that would be. In the final episode she got the worst critiques by the judges. She had the least positive feedback. So her winning then felt like a cuveball, out of nowhere. Also I think that Metamorkid showed us more of herself, she was vulnerable, showed her passion for drag, how drag safed her and so on. You related to her. You felt for her. Pandora never really opend up, she was never reall approchable or relatable in a bigger sense. She never showed her true self beyond a few glimpses from time to time. Not a fan btw of her overcocky personality, to be humble from time to time would suite anyone! It rather came through as obnoxious. Beeing confidant is important in drag and life as a queer person but as I said, it was too much. For me personally she was just too distant and aloof. The last lipsync... Urgh... She didn't get the song at all! It felt like Latrice vs. Kenya Michaels if you guys know the lipsync you might agree if not, look it up. It's a ballade, it is about emotions, self discovery, breaking free from negative emotions. So her spitting bile and stuff was akward. The collar showing it already, looked just bad (it was ducktaped in silver). For me it missed the mark and the emotions of the song. There was a reason she wasn't the focus during the lipsync and you saw nearly nothing of her. In the end it was kinda clear from an early point on that Pandora was hyped and made a front runner (at around episode 5). For me it felt at that point that the producers wanted to push the gagging resolve of a cis-woman winning a Drag Race franchise. The last and final episode had such a weird edit and focus. I was SURE Metamorkid would win. Those are just some of my reasonings why I don't agree with the final outcome. BUT for all those pitchfork wielders: I do agree she deserves her spot in the top three, don't get me wrong. ;)
Drag race France being the highest rated non-english speaking franchise is totally deserved ! I think season 3 is still an excellent season, it's just hard to be compared with season 2 which is for me the best season ever, all franchises included !
Swede here! We haven't heard anything about the show being cancelled. It's just been total silence. The only thing that was on the news that the ratings were low. We've seen Elektra, Montana and Admira on tv, having brand deals etc. Stockholm's Pride is on 29 july to 3 august so I'm sure they'll be there
The way everyone continues to shit on Italia with the major reasons being Farida wasnt crowned 3 years ago or that y'all dont like Priscilla....like girl y'all can continue being bitter but if y'all were Italian or lived in italy you would know whats actually important. Like saying Priscilla isnt good representation is such an uneducated opinion, cause outside of the show she's really politically active, and thats whats most important right now for the queer scene here. Of course i have many complaints about our franchise, but im so tired of seeing it getting discretited and how "its good to keep it on rest" cause its not. There's literally no italian programs where queer people are at the forefront and our rights could not be in a worse place right now, so i'll very much prefer for it to continue and get our voices out there instead of "getting it off the pot" just because outsiders dont like it.
About Sweden, I hear the season 2 is coming after Eurovision. And we have a struggle with Brazil, yes, the fandom had mixed felling and the winner was the least favorite by fans but we all WANT a s2. The problem is: we dont have a set! México was already filmed when paramount drop the series so was easier, but Brazil have do find a new set anf film, so as Germany.
@@hidenseek496 I think season 1 put a lot of people off (including Mera). Season 2 was better overall. Priscilla was slightly better but with season 3 losing Tommaso, I honestly never got through the whole thing.
@@vinnym5607 Tommaso was always considered a bad judge by us italians bc he is a huge grifter that didn't really know much about drag and just jumped on the franchise bc of the hype around it, also he said some very problematic shit both before and after being cast as a judge, italian queer community really despises him and we were all happy he was taken off, unfortunately his replacement was just as bad...
Not Thailand being so low 😢 If no one's watched it....please do!! It's amazing!! I've never laughed so hard...some of their queens are hilarious and fun!
I feel like I’m the only one who actually enjoyed Holland while it was airing. I frequently go back to rewatch both seasons like they were not bad at all.
I feel like most franchises kind of sit in their culture as much as the UK. Philippines definitely does, same as Spain, France, Mexico and more. Down Under would benefit from taking the lead from the above franchises. Maybe that would be more difficult as the franchise represents two separate countries. Also not having a local host. Ru does work for the UK though.
In the last two seasons Canada's Drag Race has become my favorite. Their challenges are so much more fun and interesting than the original series. And I like their contestants more too. Since Ru moved to MTV, the quality has really dropped. I get bored by every challenge now.
mera obviously is a star, scarlet is the only star I found with the co hosts, not trying to drag anyone cause they all lovely but she has that it factor and keeps mera content engaged, I'm always less impressed with anyone but her. Her energy is unmatched ♍
As a viewer from Belgium, watching both seasons of Drag Race Belgique has been a bit frustrating. I believe WOW recognized the large fan base for Drag Race in Belgium and decided to give Drag Race Belgique a chance, but then fumbled by making the entire show in French. Our country is divided into three regions: 40% of the population speaks French (French region is Walllonia), 59% speaks Dutch (Dutch region is Flanders), and the Brussels-Capital Region is officially bilingual but primarily French-speaking in practice. This division is further complicated by our national TV broadcasting regulations, which separate networks for the Dutch-speaking and French-speaking parts of the country. This makes it difficult to organize a franchise that spans both regions. Most Dutch speakers don’t bother keeping their French fluent and vice versa, making it challenging to find Flemish queens willing to compete. We saw Star and Chloe struggle in season two due to comedy and lyric-writing challenges that required fluency. A possible solution? Organize a Low Lands Drag Race for Dutch and Flemish queens and a French Drag Race for queens from Wallonia, France, and Luxembourg.
I would love to see your raking best lipsync for international framchise. Ej Gala Varo vs Argenis (DRMEX), Visa vs Clover (DRES), Jade vs Matilduh (DRPH), etc. I think would be a way of appreciating other franchises and their talent!
It's interesting to think if this poll was done at different times then the results might be different like if it was done straight after UK S5 then that might be top, or during Holland S1 that might be higher
My top 3 would be 1: Canada's Drag Race 2: Drag Race UK 3: OG Drag Race UK still keeps that rawness I loved about the early season of Drag Race and it seems it doesn't loose that. But Canada is a whole new beast. It's Drag Race on steroids. It's amping up everything we love about Drag Race and Brooke is so fun and light that I never end watching any episode of CDG mad!
22:45 actually uk season 1 aired the same year as season 11 so it was way after season 9 and all stars 2, but still a valid point about the girl group thing
I don't think this is the correct way to rank the franchises. The fact that I wouldn't pick a certain franchise before another doesn't mean that I dislike it. And of course, as it's been said, the bias toward English speaking franchises is huge. I also don't understand what's so wrong with Priscilla. Of all the things that didn't work with drag race Italy, the host is really not the most important.
