Mal is just such a hard villain to take seriously, how can any of the villains be that oblivious Heather and Alejandro were some of the best manipulators, and Jo, Zoey, and Scott weren’t that stupid in their original season. Duncan literally knew Mal and nothing ever comes from it, Gwen and Courtney really should be able to pick up that something’s wrong
I hate how everyone got mad at Lightning for not being able to count but in the finale of the last season HE GOT COMPLETELY ELECTROCUTED! So he probably forgot a little but how to count
There had to have been a better way to convey that ending they were going for - Heather keeping the idol and not telling Alejandro was a good play, or, if they HAD to go that way to make the plot work, Heather could've forced a tie with someone else (like Gwen or Courtney) and done a tiebreaker in some form or fashion? The ideas were there, just not this way.
How many challenges this season are just race to the thing? The obstacle course, the boat race, the ice cream race, the race across the island, the eating competition race, the race to free Chris Almost HALF!
Theres a theory that Lindsay didn't want to compete in the first place ( guessed by her reaction and self-vote ), but she came to annoy a few people;the people that would say she is the stupidest and expect the least from her. Some examples are: Her forgetting to push when its courtney and not caring about her being squished, and calling Alejandro ( who she NEVER misnamed before ) Jalapeno. I like to headcanon this theory cuz otherwise her idiocy doesnt make sense
My Rankings: 13. Sundae Muddy Sundae 12. Moon Madness 11. The Final Wreck-ening 10. The Obsta-Kill Course 9. The Bold and the Booty-Full 8. No Eggspects the Spanish Opposition 7. Evil Dread 6. Suckers Punched 5. Food Fright 4. Heroes Vs. Villains 3. You Regatta Be Kidding Me 2. Zeek and Ye Shall Find 1. Saving Private Leechball
One of the main problems with Mal is that the writers of TDAS don't seem to be able to decide whether they want him to be taken comedically or seriously. It's kinda sad to be honest because Mal could've been a great concept.
I think when Courtney said AS was the furthest she got in Total Drama, I think she meant this is the first time since she’s stayed in the game in normal terms. Because in Action she came half way
I always thought it was funny as a kid that Mike had MPD/multiple personality disorder I have DID which used to be called MPD but yeah the craziest part is that there’s actually no cure lol
Oh my gosh, you're really reviewing this season. I am so sorry lol. Some miscellaneous notes I had while watching: • Completely agree that the generational split was stupid. Even ignoring the fact that gen 1 has had way more screetime, as it is now there's only 5 people that debuted in Island competing in All Stars. Why are there 2 more ROTI competitors than the original season veterans? It makes no sense. • While I do agree that Courtney does not belong anywhere near the Heroes' team, I...actually kinda like the fact that she's there. With the cast they chose, there's not really anything interesting happening on that team due to everyone getting along all the time. Having her around to stir the pot would've been a great idea to keep things from going stale! Or at least it would have if they hadn't switched her over to the Villains later on. With what they went with, they really should have had Gwen be the character to start on the Heroes and switch later as her starting on the Hamsters makes way more sense. • I know Lightning was eliminated because he screwed up the challenge but like... Scott totally should've been first out. And if not first out than he should've been kicked over Jo at least. He threw nearly every challenge for his team last season. Why anyone would think he'd be good to keep around I don't know (at the very least it should've been acknowledged). • I don't hate Scourtney, but it really should've been written differently. Imagine if they became the Boston Rob and Amber of Total Drama. • If they were going to include Sam over Owen then they really should've actually done something with him. He would've been perfect for an underdog storyline where no one thinks he's an All Star and everyone underestimates him. • The Camcody plotline is a mess. They flanderized Sierra to the point that her Cody obsession was her only personality trait and Cameron should've left in pre-merge if they were going to dumb him down and not do anything with him. • Heather losing all of her braincells after finding the statue is so annoying. Everything was going so well for her too... Al taking Heather out with her own idol was a good idea in theory at least. • Sundae Muddy Sundae is even dumber when you realize that Gwen has no reason to be upset over Courtney. Next episode she admits that she thought the season was ending in the final three meaning that, according to her own logic, Courtney was keeping to her word of taking her to the finale. Gwen is horrid this season tbh and you can really tell the writers wrote themselves into a corner when they realized their planned finalists weren't apart of the strong 3-person alliance in the final 5. • I often completely forget that the Final Wreckening is a thing. Like, my brain just deletes it from memory immediately after I finish it and I can't remember anything about it other than the end of the episode. Fun fact: due to the sudden rule change, Gwen, Heather, Alejandro, and Cameron are technically all 2-time finalists. Anyway, I'm done with the video sooo that's all for my notes. I love you platonically too, person from the internet that I don't actually know!
Ahhhh I loved reading this and listening to your overall takes on the season. Glad you stuck through the whole video and got to experience parts of this train wreck of a season
@@iambeanss I'm glad the overly-long comment didn't put you off haha. I've actually been enjoying your stuff for a bit now and meant to comment something but kept forgetting... Made sure to still like them at least.
Yea I agree with most of it. Sierra's entire personality evolved around Cody, but Gwen was atleast nice in that season (somewhat) and I think it was bc ROTI was the last season so they said "why not" but sam DEF should've been switched to Owen as much as I love Sam (Still love that season and Sierra)
Not a single elimination ever set up a good alternate elimination, half of the eliminations are just legitimate sudden bullshit. Mainly Sierra, Scott, Sam, and Cameron They saved Cameron from elimination twice and he still isn’t relevant or entertaining to the plot Sam stealing the pancakes made no sense, he could have just begged his team to not send him to exile.
Yeah... All-Stars was a massive failure. Character derailement, bad elimination order, stupid plots and interactions and lame challenges. It's the defition of a BAD total drama season.
Gwen literally cheating with another guys girlfriend dramatically outweighs any goodwill she had in her original season. Really the only people she was ever nice to were Cody, Trent, Duncan, and LeShawna. The way people act like Duncan breaking up with Courtney first wasn’t a completely viable solution is completely ridiculous to me. 5 words and he could have saved him some serious trouble. Duncan and Gwen were never going to tell Courtney until Tyler owned up to catching them in the act.
To be fair, the robot being Alejandro was only a twist if you had missed the post-credits scene from the end of Season 3. The fact that it kept edging up to Heather was also a major clue, considering that tells you the person there was interested in her - take that in whatever context you like, all of them work. As for the whole thing with Heather's statue, Alejandro is not the only person who could have taken it. Someone else might have come across it by chance. I mean, I know Alejandro took it, but she had no reason for not suspecting any of the other contestants taking it, ignorant of the fact that she'd found it first.
Well yeah the robot is obviously Alejandro I was just playing it up. And Im not upset that Heather was wrong about who took the statue. Im upset that she didn’t even consider Alejandro could have been the one to take it considering the circumstances and is all shocked when it’s revealed he did take it
If Dawn was in this season she would have been the first to sense the presence of Mal, the Total Drama All Stars Rewrite fanfic shows the potential of that storyline
It would be cool if they do this again but with a mix of reboot and pre-reboot characters, but not messed it up. I also like to imagine them not explaining any voice changes, or how the first season characters are 16 still. And just have Chris saying “That’s strictly confidential”. I also had another explanation in mind that Chris somehow had the ability to change them physically and mentally back to 16, which causes some changes. Even he himself did it to himself which would explain the voice change. But I don’t know how others would feel about it, and I haven’t had a chance to see the latest seasons.
I remember when this season aired and even I was consistently disappointing and even felt angry at a lot of times, also love watching your videos, keep up the awesome work ☺️
I’ve been watching this show with my partner recently because they’ve never seen it or heard any spoilers about it, and it’s been a really fun rewatch getting through island and realizing it’s worse than I remember, going through action and realizing it’s the funniest season, going through world tour and confirming it’s the best season, it was really fun. Then we got to Revenge of the island, and since then we’ve laughed more at the show than with it. We just got to all stars a few days ago, which I was very excited to have them watch because they knew there was an all star season but didn’t know when it was happening, or who was on the cast. I think we are 3 episodes in now, and honestly I gotta give some credit, considering my expectations were in the gutter from memory, it’s a step up from revenge of the island we’d say. Actual funny moments again (thanks to the OG Cast), and I like how much this season pulls from survivor in terms of twists teams and so on. Overall, at least it’s better than BB22
Can’t what for the TDPI video. This season would’ve been really well of it was Mike vs Courtney or Jo especially since they could’ve resolved the mal thing by bringing Zoey back as a helper
Maybe I have low standards, but I enjoyed All-Stars a lot. I understand the criticism, and it's all valid, nor do I intend to defend the season. It's one of my guilty pleasures, and it's probably because Total Drama is something I turn my brain off to watch.
This should have been the easiest season to write, and should have been one of the best (if not the best) season. like, bringing back a bunch of fan favorite characters while also tying up loose ends would have been really easy to write But for whatever reason, they just couldn't do it. I have no idea who decided to make everyone so oblivious to mal, but they ruined the season. It would have been so easy to make everyone unlikely allies against mal in the final stretch of the season, but that didn't happen, for _some_ reason They could've at least given a better reason why nobody believes it's mal; like if alejandro was the _only one_ who knew and kept trying to warn everyone, but mal was able to successfully pin his misdeeds on alejandro instead (and not in a dumb way), it would've been interesting to see alejandro as a protagonist for part of the season. But no. Every single path for interesting writing is just squandered in a really dumb way
I feel like they wasted the payoff for Alejandro being able to walk. It feels like it could have come in handy in a way when he needed them, not for a dramatic walk
You're so right about the fall off. I finally watched All Stars and was like... wait this isn't even bad?? I was actually really enjoying the season. Then about halfway through it just free falls and becomes way too Mike/Zoey centric. I always thought the first half of "Season 5" should have been a proper Season 2 for Gen 2 and THEN have the second half be an All-Stars that way we don't have to have All Stars basically be a Gen 2 season 2 with some OGs sprinkled in. Sorry Pahkitew.
9:45 The fact of her forgetting to push is quite dumb since she loves to shop so much but she did remember how to push after just a short time. She was doing fine before Sierra sat on top of Courtney and was really tired when she had to go back and forth with two people, so i wouldn't blame her (but also she did carry Owen once so thats a continuity error) Edit: 11:08 b-b-but Manitoba 😔🤧 and Manitoba and Scott's little interaction was so funny. And debut episode of MAL 😍😍😍😍 THE MANITOBA AND MAL HATE HERE IS CRUMBLING MY SOUL MIND HEART AND BODY RN 😭😭😭😭😭 Edit: 15:56 Slandering my favs for no reason 🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧
I like about 70 to 80 percent of the content in episodes 1-7. I like about 50 percent of the content in episode 8. I like about 30 to 40 percent of the content in episode 9 and 10. I like about 25 percent of the content in episode 11. (Yes, I like the Courtney/Gwen ship video scene packs) I like about 15 percent of the content in episode 12. Yeah the finale is much better, I only like 60 percent of its content, so still worse for me, than the first several episodes. Also, explanation, the parts I didn't like were Mal and anything that was related to him. The parts I liked were Lightning, Jo, Alejandro, Heather, Scott, Courtney, Duncan, Gwen, Cameron
This season would've been a whole lot better if the boot order was reversed. Edit: Unrelated to the above comment, but I just remembered the button press. I don't have a problem with how unrealistic it is. My problem is that these personalities are what make Mike such an interesting characters. Killing them off is like killing Mike off.
I mean, it would be nice seeing Lindsey win, but idk how she’s win against someone against lightning, both are dumb, and beauty doesn’t really help overall, however I could see her winning if she was still in her TDA phase and remain competitive while not being too much of a threat to vote out
I liked Mal personally but I felt like this season should've been longer for it to develop better - Also give Mal an actual personality instead of pure evil.
Tbh, I know Heros vs villains is know to be a special thing to do like survivor originally did. But, what if all starts were to make it hero’s Vs Neutral Vs Villains
The Neutral team could have probably have Anne Maria, Leshawna, Owen, and Brick. But you probably might be able to add Cody and Harold. Then again I don’t know about the neutral team.
This season has like one or two ok episodes and that’s about it. This season is one hot mess. To the villain to the cast in general. It wasn’t the worst piece of tv I’ve seen but it’s bad as shit still. Nice ranking tho, can easily respect your opinions.
This one felt like one of those shitty sequels people pretend never happened. The characters were basically just parodies of themselves. Also, that opening theme feels like a joke, like it sounds fan made and I cannot take it seriously.
@@bluraspbery I definitely plan on it at some point. I've never watched it or know anything that happens so it would be fun to go in blind and review my thoughts
@@iambeanss I think a good time to talk about it is after the All stars season is finished as its still on-going and once u finish ranking the rest of the Total drama episodes from the remaining seasons u haven’t covered
28:59 I don’t know. I actually loved the hug and wished they stayed friends. But I wished this happened in World Tour cause at this point, Courtney is just arrogant, immature brat and Gwen is an inconsiderate, annoying jerk who kissed her boyfriend and TREATED IT LIKE IT WAS NOTHING!!!
Gwen is not a villan. Also she was right 15:22 😂😂. 17:31 hey Sam & Dakota's love ship was probably why she got into all stars. 19:10 Yeah Heather was like Ella in that episode. But I know it was just an act 20:43 yeah Cameron is gonna be done for. 38:32 hey at least he has highest raked member of the vultures. 40:07 yeah Chris what's wrong with you. 40:29 yeah Courtney 42:08 Chris is an Evil evil man 42:39 Courtney you have problems.
My ranking: 1. The Final Wreck-ening 2. Evil Dread 3. Moon Madness 4. Zeek & Ye Shall Find 5. Saving Private Leechball 6. Food Fright 7. You Regotta Be Kidding Me 8. Heroes vs Villains 9. Suckers Punched 10. The Bold & the Booty-ful 11. No One Eggspects the Spanish Opposition 12. The Obsta-kill Course 13. Sundae Muddy Sundae But none of them of this episodes are good. In my list of all TD episodes they all at the bottom one after the other. All Stars is legitimately one of the worst thing I ever watch :)
I don't why but i always look back at All Star disappointing but also finally fondly (For me, Total Drama All-Star is tough season to rate for me, I don't it the worst since there two season i dislike more but I can still see why this is a disappointment)
I promise you the only reason i was watching this season was because I mean if you kill every single good character left in the game then you have to give the win to the final good character aka Courtney/Scott right. Ofcourse not we should kill their potential too. We are trying to make season bad RIP all stars, right we shall give the win to the characters to we derailed so badly so they can say, actually we are going to spend the money on brain surgery (because of mal and zoey's brain loss). I am sorry i just needed to get that out of me.

Ok, Zoey and Duncan had already heard Izzy confirmed that Mal exists and Duncan already told her this and see Mike being evil, so why doesn’t she(his girlfriend) look more into it after knowing that he’s real?!!! I didn’t mind her in Revenge cause she started getting more tough and smart but now she’s completely idiotic and stupid AND I HATED IT!!!!
This is season was so bad but not boring. I think all stars and is better then pi because pi is so bad so many bad characters bad challenges at leadt all stars had some good characters but got out right away but that’s okay and they were okay
Pakhitew is so much worse, the Dave and Sky plotline is so unhinged Sky might be the single most forgettable character, this season gave us Beardo, Leonard, Rodney, and Amy The cast really doesn’t interact much outside of the romance and Max and Scarlett
