The weirdest thing about Sasuke vs. Deidara is that they're characters I never even expected to even interact. If you watched the fight without having been caught up to that point in the plot you'd have thought it was some kind of fanfiction.
@@Enja___ everything after was wasted potential and plot convenience Juugo was great, so was Suigetsu, and they both showed nothing compared to what it was at least very much hinted that they could do. Then it became all about magical demons shoved up people's butts or fancy eyes. It was pretty lame
@@moneymankkk5797 it's fine for a generic shounen, and given when it came out, I'd say it was pretty good Just that the longer the series went on, the less creative it became
1. For me the pain fight was the most memorable of all the series, always felt like the climax of OG naruto. 2. Gaara vs Lee is the one I've rewatch the most. 3. Shikamaru vs. "Schyte Guy" Hidan. It just had such good build up. And was back when Akatsuki seemed so much stronger than anybody else, and it was all about outsmarting the enemy and not about who could jerk out the most colourful chakra balls
The theatrics and drama of the Pain vs Naruto fight was unlike any other. The village destroyed. People like Kakashi and Jiraiya killed by the antagonist. The philosophical battle. The main love interest finally confessing and then dying. The chanting music as it zoomed in on Naruto's eyes, then a heartbeat sound as they turn red. End of episode cliffhanger. Next episode explodes with insanely fast action. More tails in the cloak than ever before. The necklace breaks. Pain pulls out his best jutsu. Naruto caught. The silhouette of Naruto internally stumbling towards the seal. The fourth hokage sitting in paradise, waiting. All incredible theatrics unlike any other fight. Number 1 for me.
Everything has been destroyed, people are dying, everyone left is helpless and desperate. Sakuras cry for help. The drumbeats leading up to Naruto’s entrance enhancing the suspense. Then poof! The hero has arrived on top of his toads looking exactly like the 4th entering the Kurama fight when Naruto was born. All of this alone makes the fight my favorite after watching one of my favorite characters (Jiraiya) die. Not to mention, it’s one of the first fights that actually showcase Naruto’s calculating wits as he figures out Nagato’s abilities. It’s the one arc I can watch multiple times and still be emotional and pumped for
I think kakashi vs obito is a masterclass fight that doesn’t need any explanation as it has the backstory woven in. Everything there is done perfectly and the choreography is silky. Was sad it didn’t make top 10 as it is a fight I can show anyone and they understand how dope it is
You've got to admire the respect the animation team put into this. The manga version is quite short and is emotional. But the animation is just so clever. The best use of flashbacks in the whole series, top notch hand to hand choreography, pacing done right. They did such a great job.
EXACTLY. like to put it outside top 5 unbiasedly is criminal. its argued as one of the best choreographed fight in all of anime. with the flashbacks and no words and just fists flying. dude its perfect. like not only did he put it at 18. HE PUT BUTTERFLY CHOJI ABOVE IT LOFL. like what drugs is he on dude
Let's be honest, Minato vs Obito is one of the main reasons Minato is such a fan favourite. I'd personally put it in the top 10, but 17 is respectable.
@@mihaimercenarul7467 They engaged each other in close quarters multiple times and Minato piecing together a strategy to use against Obito was rlly cool. Also him blitzing over to stab Obito was badass AF.
Kakashi vs Obito will always be my favorite. Such communication between the 2 of them but with zero words. The whole scene is so void and empty but there's so much weight in the entire thing. At that point, it felt like a huge conclusion to something we had all been waiting on forever. At this point in the show, the fights had evolved into gigantic, explosive super here battles and Kakashi vs Obito got back to what I loved about Naruto from the start. CLASSIC.
It’s an absolutely amazing sequence don’t get me wrong, but to the entire series plot wise it only lacks a bit of details and twists beside the extremely good animation
@@LhLeo It doesn't need any more details or twists dumbass. This is a raw hand to hand fight against 2 people using their utmost skill without dbz abilities that we see later on like sage of six paths. It's the most honest fight in the entirety of the war arc and is paired with the best presentation of visual storytelling in the entire series. It's a genuine masterpiece of a fight, not only because of the animation, but because of the way the story is being told through the fight through pure transitions and no dialogue whatsoever. THAT is when a fight scene is at its best.
@@Mmuff I actually can't enjoy much in Obito vs Kakashi fight because Obito was already much stronger than Kakashi, Kakashi should have no chance against Hashrima cell Obito and I think Obito&Kakashi relation isn't intriguing at all. People are captivated by the impressiveness of animation.
I really liked how in the Temari vs Shikamaru fight, Kishimoto managed to make Shikamaru look smart, without making Temari look dumb. I think most people see Temari as a capable, intelligent jonin level character, because she got respect in the fights she was in, even those she didn't win.
My personal favourite fight has and always will be Kakashi Vs Obito. The animation is smooth and near flawless, the respective abilities of the combatants are utilised in genius ways, the setting is both devoid and extremely meaningful, seeing both of them outsmart eachother because they know their abilities while mirrored are equally as powerful and the narrative weight it provides both as a payoff for and to set up a small arc afterwards elevates it beyond a traditional fight scene in its impact and mastery for me. SSS+ tier
i loved it for all those reasons to but what sold it to me as my favorite fight is how you can feel the emetions comeing off them and when obito pulls himself back god its one of the best scenes in anime
Personally this isn't my favourite fight but I do think that if I were to talk critically, this fight has to be the best in all of Naruto. Although in my personal preference, my favourite fight is Naruto vs Sasuke in the og. It just hit the hardest for me and when I first watched it I loved it. I think all of the Obito flashbacks and pointless filler downgraded the Obito vs kakashi fight for me
@@thecod2345 exactly, I adore how so much is communicated without any words. The attack patterns, the lethality and the "I know you know I know" of every move is basically them talking to one another but with Kunal and Jitsu instead of actual words
just was looking in the comments to see if anyone had the same opinion i did. this fight is quite literally the best one imo and no one can change my mind.
Just realised how damn often Kakashi had to fight insane enemies. The fact that he survived through the whole show is just amazing. Lee vs Gaara, Sasuke vs Itachi and Kakashi vs Obito emotionally and visually best fights of Naruto. Also every appearance of Minato feels just like every appearance from shanks in one piece. :)
Kakashi is a survivor plain and simple he may not always win but he comes out in (mostly) one piece. It's one of his main character points he survives while those around him perish (all of team Minato) thus making him even more committed to the phrase "In the Ninja World, those who break the rules are scum, that's true...but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum!"
Danzo vs Sasuke did it for me. It was Danzo's self fulfilling prophecy coming true in the worst of ways, all the years of paranoia and extrajudicial killings for 'security' coming around full circle. Danzo sure let his dictatorial rule go to his head, then Sasuke's Chidori went through his chest.
Also also respect the hell out of this. Easy for us to say "this should be higher or lower" but still putting an actual ranking together is really hard. Love you Swag
Kakashi vs Obito is my favorite. The flashing between adult and kid moments seamlessly blended with the fight as well as the music theme and animation is just chefs kiss. It's an absolute love letter to the fans.
if only it wasn't ruined by them SHOVING the whole backstory between the two down our throats endlessly over the course of what felt like a year of filler
I’ll never forget the summer of 2014, spending the whole break in the public library having just discovered what manga was. The scene in the manga where the whole village throws Naruto into the air and declares him the hero of the leaf was possibly the most catharsis I’ve ever felt when consuming media. I saw myself in him as did everyone else and kishimoto keeping his promise in that way was amazing
I would have put kakashi vs Obito higher. Not only is the animation ridiculously good, giving good old taijutsu a last hurrah before the gods take over, the intermittent flashbacks combined with the music and the stakes of the entire world ending just make for such an amazing, and incredibly emotional fight. After hundreds of episodes/chapters, seeing such a climax occur was just... Sublime. Definite SS for me. I'd also swap 1 and 2 around, but that's minor. Other than that, I pretty much agree on everything
DEFINITELY. The build up of this fight is not only that episode, there are years and years for this fight to happen. The dense feeling is different and for me it's the best one animated. Just fire ✋🏻🔥
as someone who's never watched naruto, kakashi vs. obito is by far my favourite fight. honestly barely feels like you're watching anime; it's more like a scene from a martial arts thriller
i am ridiculously biased towards kakashi vs obito. let me explain. the animation is flawless. look at one frame of the fight. trace that. do it again hundreds and thousands of times. that is how much work animation is. nothing in the series compares to the sheer weight and speed of each hit. every smear is perfectly executed and every sound effect is perfectly placed. you may notice that i am only talking about the animation. i am an animator, which is why i'm so biased.
An under mentioned part of the Naruto/Pain fight is Tsunade getting her “hokage moment” before Naruto shows up. For a character who doesn’t get many epic moments, it was really rewarding to see her face death against all odds for the sake of the village like the previous 3 Kage (even if there was no fight payoff). Hoping that Kakashi gets a similar moment in Boruto.
@@XOTheHosttt Gaara vs rock lee, first valley of the end, pain vs six tails naruto, orochimaru vs sasuke in the Forrest of death, pain vs jiraiya, hiruzen vs reanimated hashirama and tobirama, sasuke vs deidara, kakashi vs kakazu. He even animated that rock lee vs sasuke fight in rock lee and his ninja pals
Pain didn't push Naruto enough to use the sexy jutsu, his most deadly jutsu but seriously this video is amazingly paced, even though it well over an hour long every statement you give for a fight is concise and gets straight to the point. It did not feel like watching a 1.25 hour long video, it felt like watching a 15 minute video.
Absolutely agree. Usually I don't have the attention span to even watch 20min videos in one sitting but the pacing was so good that I managed to stick around from start to finish.
Neji vs kidomaru was a pretty good fight with the smart kid being out smarted and still finding a way to win also at his death bed to still do gentle fist with a spin cherry on top ✅
I'm surprised you didn't mention this for the Naruto vs. Sasuke (Part 1) segment, but the fact that Naruto loses the fight is definitely the best part. If it had ended in a draw, or Naruto winning but then being interrupted by Kabuto to take Sasuke away, then this fight would've been good but unsatisfying. Thankfully, they ended up choosing a clear victor and it lead to a whole new series with character motivations getting amped up.
And there's also the fact that after winning, Sasuke could've killed naruto to get the mangekyou, but he chose not to, even though he was leaving everything behind for his revenge, he still deeply cared about Naruto
Kid Naruto vs Kid Sasuke was so iconic back then. Especially when the games were coming out and Nine Tails Naruto and Curse Mark Sasuke were the most powerful unlockable characters and were all over the box art
Yeah, it was red eyes vs red eyes all over the box art. Nostalgia indeed (when in reality, Kakashi, Orochimaru, and other such characters would still low diff them lol)
I think Sasuke vs Itachi is a fight we will always fanboy over simply because of how the show culminated Sasuke’s entire existence to get to that point. Him fighting his brother and getting revenge. Also, we got to see the hype around Itachi’s name in full display.
52:02 The fact that Minato figured out how to counter Kamui in, like, a minute, while seeing it for the first time in his life, makes the fight even better imo. And the entire Itachi Pursuit Team fought Obito for so long and still couldn't figure it out.
@@zlayer4514 no. Minato was always referred to as a once in a lifetime prodigy. His knowledge of ninjutsu was rivaled only by characters such as Orochimaru and Tobirama and everything about his ease in dealing with kamui was 100% justified.
Although I agree that the final 6 fights are solidly the best 6 fights in all of Naruto and can mostly be arranged in whatever order depending on what you look for in a fight, I think Naruto and Sasuke's final fight is the best fight in the series. This fight serves as a perfect conclusion to the rivalry that has been built upon since the beginning of the series, it has stunning visuals, insane jutsu, great taijutsu, great choreography, the silence at the start of the fight adds palpable tension, the flashbacks throughout the fight truly showcase just how far the characters have come, and the brutal beat down at the end where neither one has anything left and you can both hear and feel the weight of their punches is done beautifully. Also, an interesting dynamic in the fight is that Naruto is the one that is sure of the path he wants to take towards peace (unlike in his fight with Pain) while Sasuke still has questions. He still wonders why Naruto is obsessed with him almost as if he feels that answer will bring him to a better conclusion than the one that he has come to. This Naruto wouldn't have been silenced by Pain's monologue.
Your last sentence. It's something truly special. Pain's speech is probably the best in all of anime and it literally silences the main character and makes him question his whole motivation. Still, I think what you wrote is true. Naruto has grown so much since then that he could possibly give an answer to Pain's question on how true peace should be achieved.
YOOOOOO FINALLY I FOUND SOMEONE WHO THINKS THE FINAL FIGHT IS THE BEST. DUDE ITS THE CULMINATION OF EVERYTHING. BOTH AT THEIR PEAK. AND THE CHOREOGRAPHY IS ABSOLUTELY FKN AMAZING
I feel like that brutal slugfest when they're both drained is one of the most ICONIC parts of the fight. Because it's so stunningly grounded from most of what we see in Naruto. It isn't some flashy, high octane, stuff, or some kaiju warfare. It's just two dudes, who were once friends, having an ugly fight. For that brief moment, it felt so visceral. It shows so much about their characters too, about how goddamn stubborn they are. Naruto, the bullheaded youth is of course going to keep pushing through, he's known for his stamina and his guts to just keep going. But Sasuke, we don't ever really see this side of him. He's typically fluid, graceful, efficient. Here, he's falling apart, but still, he fights on. Beaten, bloodied, but still driven forward by his spite. He simply can't shake off the path he has taken, he must run its course. And with that in mind, it further enforces that, despite knowing that vast torment he's going through, Naruto is still there, literally trying to beat the sense into him, even if it seems impossible. And then it's followed by some more insane sequences, like Sasuke seeing the opening to steal chakra, and then Naruto being able to counter thanks to Sasuke not having enough chakra to maintain his sharingan (as foreshadowed by Kakashi Gaiden when it is stated that the Chidori causes extreme tunnel vision and needs the Sharingan to properly maneuver). Just a REALLY solid section, followed by their final clash.
I don’t think any fight could ever top the pain one, it genuinely felt like it could’ve been the end of naruto and the build up was so good. Still watch it to this day
The fight was such a grand finale bro. Sage vs pain Hinata being killed Naruto going berserk in the 6 tails cloak Meeting his parents Coming back in human form and defeating pain Heroe's welcome in the leaf etc. It was just a perfect summary and ending to the kid who everyone laughed at become the man everyone loves.
Seeing Sasori vs Sakura & Chiyo be top 20 (S Tier) Makes total sense. It is in no way my favorite, or even good enough to be top 10, but it is GENUINELY one of the best fights in the series. Easily.
@@brawlme6022 Bruh, did you watch the same fight that I did?? It's the fight I rewatch the most! The absolute HYPE of sasori was legendary. He is an absolute badass with insanely cool and OP abilities, and his character design is A+. Sakura was really fucking cool in this fight, in a way she never was before or since, and it showed off how much she learned from Tsunade. Granny Chiyo is strong as hell, and her 10 puppets were incredible. S
I so love the fact that Gaara vs Lee ended up being a Double S one. Especially that it's actually one of the first fights that I watched when I started Naruto at all. Made me respect Lee's hard work and talent so much. Too bad we never got to see him fight like that anymore.
I'm really glad that all of Tsunade’s major fights were ranked decently high. I feel like she's very underrated in terms of ability, and her character arc from part 1 and then to 2 is so satisfying. Her growth makes her hands down my favorite female character in the show.
Unfortunately the emphasis on her chest, and the subsequent hentai drawn because of it, really hurt her image by reducing her to sex appeal rather than show how badass she really was.
@@Sykroid I disagree. To anyone who hasn't seen the show, more specifically the parts including her, I can understand how people would see her as just boobs but within the community I still feel like she's immensely underrated as both a character and in ability as a shinobi/hokage. I think what really hurt her was just the writer not knowing how to write compelling female characters.
@@TommyCurrell Extreme L take. Choji (nearly) sacrificed his life for his friends and became the most cold-blooded motherfucker for that moment when he one-tap-killed Jirobo. Such an amazing underdog moment from Choji and honestly one of my favorite fights and favorite moments in the entire fucking series
My favorite fight is Neji vs Kidoumaro. The tension is extreme when reading that for the first time because any of these characters could die and Neji felt like his arc was completed. The severity of his wounds in the manga makes everything feel even more dangerous and gruesome than anything that came before. Neji's victory feels awesome and it comes with a huge sigh of relief
It was great, what annoyed me about it though is how Neji stayed on the defensive. If only he'd chase after kidoumaro he could beat him up without having to almost die, which was very frustrating to me
Honestly I can't help but feel like he was supposed to die right there. That final shot of him passing out under the sun as the feather falls to his hand... I mean come on. That was clearly supposed to be his dying breath. Ditto for Choji. I'm guessing Kishimoto's editors or someone else on the creative team retconned the idea. Talk about a Byakuya moment.
I feel like a lot of the fights in G tier would be far higher if they were just their storm 3 counterparts. Like the ino shika cho vs asuma in storm three was absolutely amazing from the visuals to the story telling of how Choji gets over having to fight asuma and seal him away. In fact a lot of these bad and "mid" fights are far better in the games than in the anime and manga which is honestly kind of funny. It'd be pretty interesting to see a "every fight in the naruto storm games" tier list because i feel that the placement of a lot of these fights would change drastically.
Kakashi vs Óbito should be in the Top 5. The hand to hand choreography is the best not only in this series but even compared to other animes. The emotional score while weaving in the flashbacks of their sparring matching the fight and slightly changing. It’s masterclass in storytelling. Great end to Kakashi’s arc.
@@asish4438 funnily enough I consider Sasuke v. Bee the best "pure" fight in the series because it just Kicks ass...but I see the point. For me the OG Naruto v. Sasuke fight isn't really up there, but Kage already said He won't argue that one haha :D
@@markusnitsch8309 umm what's good in that fight actually ???as compared to the others W ... I rate shikamaru vs Temari fight higher than bee vs sasuke it didn't had any impact or was holding any very imp meaning ...almost felt as a filler they needed 8 tails sasuke got 8 tails but 8 tail survived by plot Armor cause he needed to train Naruto in future .... choreography of the fight was good but like i said even if you remove that fight the story is not impacted .
I think Sakura & Chiyo versus Sasori is one of the most underrated fights in the whole series. It's easily a top 15 fight, if not a top 10. Sakura's "Get Over Here" line in the dub is hands down one of the best lines in the show. You can't get more badass than referencing Scorpion from Mortal Kombat while knocking the shit out of the opponent. Not only that, but Sakura's fakeout moment against the 3rd Kazekage was also badass because you expect someone to intervene and save her. That moment was when we knew that Sakura could pull her weight. Episode 26 is one of the best episodes, period. It took one of the most unique ideas of Naruto, being the puppets, and utilizing them to their maximum potential. I love seeing that kind of shit. This fight is like multiple stages of a boss fight, but I love it for that reason. On a first-time watch, you can't predict when it will end. It continuously ramps up and gets better every second. That's what a Shonen fight should be.

I do appreciate how unapologetic he is involving his personal experience while maintaining an air of professionality as he ranks these fights because while certain fights may hold little significance in certain storytelling lights, sometimes it’s just incredibly badass to watch the fireworks no matter how minor
Yeah fights will always be somewhat personal in their impact so mentioning that helps contextualise some of his rankings that otherwise I would've wholeheartedly disagreed with, but his reasoning made sense from a personal perspective
I was talking to my grandmother about eastern influences in my life and how they instilled the notion that our elders are to respected not for just their experiences that they incorporate into life lessons but also the influence they have on us. Without her there wouldn’t be a me. Without her care and love I would’ve been misguided and less empathetic. Sarutobi fighting to save the village was another example of sacrifice that in my youth I took for granted. He laid down his life and stalled orochimaru from destroying the leaf but also inspired next generation. Not only this but he showed that even at his old age there were things that could make the seasoned warrior, a shinobi god, shed tears. It was such a great moment and I can’t lie the whole time I was upset watching helplessly this old man got assaulted by his student.
- he also let the village villify and ostricize Naruto and gave him no care takers or role models outside of occasional big bro energy from that one sensei. I guess he was too busy learning jutsu to bother with a kid he should probably have adopted himself.
Your way of tiering this list, is amazing. Your way of pacing this list, is amazing. The actual thought process put into each fight, is amazing. Explanation being crisp, clear, and concise, is amazing. The actual selection of fights and where they go most accurately in a way that makes most sense, is amazing. The editing both visually and audibly, is amazing. I also appreciate that you were overwhelmingly positive and only gave heat to the stinkers that were at the bottom, because Naruto really deserves hi praise. Without question your best video, and one of the best videos I have seen in a long time. Thank you for your hard work that went into the video!
kakashi vs obito is definitely my favourite, the emotional charge + animation + the fact that theyre not constantly talking + no nukes being dropped every 3 seconds is amazing. Its just hand to hand combat, like an actual fight. I have to say tho the first naruto vs sasuke was too hype to not be number 1.
The fact that we start getting good fights all the way from about rank #60 just shows how good Kishimoto is. Yeah his writing has issues, but what other shonen has AT LEAST 60 good fights at minimum?
Guy vs Madara is definitely my favourite fight. At the time of the War arc, the core concepts of OG Naruto and Naruto Shippuden where "Hard Work beats genius" was basically non-existent. It was so refreshing to see Guy sensei show the fruits of his hard work and while he didn't defeat Madara, he came the closest to killing him and was declared the strongest , and was frankly in that brief time period the strongest( before so6p Naruto and Rinnegan Sasuke). Also the fact that Night Guy literally bent space itself through a physical attack(not even a jutsu) makes it one of the most broken Attacks as it can't be defended( Due to its speed and the fact that madara's truth-seeking staff couldn't block it), granted it came at a humongous cost. The flashback to Kakashi's dad telling him that Guy will be stronger than him was perfect( One of the best use of flashbacks, behind Obito vs Kakashi)
One of the best videos you'd ever put out, period.. The work that went into this must of been crazy... I agree with almost everything you'd said in the video and it was a great experience.
To me, Deidara vs Sasuke is peak Naruto. It's before the show morphed too far into Dragon Ball Z land, was early enough in the series that there was still lingering mystery and was super solidly communicated. Glad you ranked it highly since so many people sleep on it.
@@juggnant1962 Uh, giant blue orb explosions, flashy transformations, end of strategy for the profit of insane bulk, powering up during fights... I mean, the part when you can't genuinely call it a show about ninjas.
@@Raven-ch6tm so? What’s the big deal with that? I’m actually glad the anime takes that direction. It was slow and I loved it. Even so, it was nowhere near dbz as strategy was still important to take down even the strongest enemies, sometimes using big explosions as aid to do so
My favorite one is Jiraya and Pain. Jiraya is my favorite character and in this combat he used so much of unique skills + these 2 old frogs helping him in his last fight is also kinda cool thing. Also very emotional fight, where he realizes his rival is actually his student and ofc he before he died he did a message to Kohona is also really really cool.
I can see that making a video like this must be extremely stressful and time consuming but in all honesty it is my favourite type of video to watch and I think it might be Swagkages best video to date. If he made more content like this in the future it would make me so happy as reliving some of these fights through Swags opinions of them has rekindled my love for Naruto and gave me that good feeling I would always get from watching the show itself
Thank you for putting respect on the Sannin fight.I always felt that fight was underrate. Tsunade gave me goosebumps from the start of the fight when she did kick of pain and heavy violence plays. AMAZING.
I hated orochimaru sooo much back then and when i saw someone(Tsunade) giving him that fucking big pounding. It was the one of Best fight and still is.
@@Jakalin742 True, but also when I saw this episode on cartoon network, Tsunade was the first woman in anime that I actually saw that wasn't the regular ,same old, weak female anime character. It blew my mind and I respected her because of that. I wish her powers were showcased more.
I'm really happy to know you like animation in the 6 tails vs pain fight. I see so much hate directed at that episode because the animation style is different, but I think the animation going crazy is the only way to portray the unnatural strength of those two characters at that point. But more importantly, I think it looks fucking amazing. The juxtaposition between the blobby characters (including the infamous Pain frame) against the sharp angles in the environment is a feast for the eyes.
Yeah I like the animation of the fight alot, there are times where it works against the fight, like the aforementioned pain frame, but for like 95% of the fight it looks stunning and impactful, but while I love the animation I also love the memes😂
he didn't say he liked the animation. he said the scene is good, mostly likely referring to the manga since he said before that the episode was animated horribly
Yeah the way pain is moving his body like a corpse throughout the fight sliding across the water at top speed, sinking into the ground and flying through trees throwing every jutsu he has at the 6 tails is just so epic...it's everything I want to see with a shinobi fighting a tailed beast
Totally agree. Hate to see people trash talking the animation cause it is one of the best animated moments in the entire series. Some people don't know what animation means apparently and just cause they don't like the artstyle change think it's bad
The fact I watched this entire video is crazy bc I never watch videos that are this long even if it’s a sick subject but the way you edited and paced it was flawless
Much respect for putting Hiruzen vs Orichimaru and Jiraiya vs Pain so high. They aren't filled to the brim with break neck action but the drama is all there.
Worst part of Hiruzen Orichimaru was that it was stretched out over too many eps. When I first watched it, I was thinking why tf this taking so long and someone in the comments pointed out how Hiruzen and Orochimaru were holding each other for over 3 episodes 💀
Super glad to see Konan vs Obito so high: The manga pages where you see the whole ocean is paper bombs and she states there's 600 billion of them is THE best moment in the series for me. But I also totally see why it's not quite in S tier, because aside from that the fight is fairly uneventful. I'd actually probably put Sasuke vs Orochimaru in the Forest of death in the top 10 (I think the way that the state of the fight actually changes with people moving around and getting knocked around rather then just nonstop taijutsu makes it more interesting then say Kakashi vs Obito), and woulda swapped around the Kidomaru, Kimmimaro, and the Jirobo fights (so Kimmimaro is highest, then below that is Kidomaru, then Jirobo), but other then that I think the list is pretty solid.
43:39 In my personal opinion, I believe that the uncensored version of Obito vs The Blood Mist Anbu is the best rage scene in anime. No overbearing music, no stupid and pointless monologues, no unnecessary pauses, absolutely none of that garbage. Obito goes straight in, absolutely slaughtering the Blood Mist Anbu in great brutal fashion. The way he forced multiple tree branches to grow inside of 2 dudes was spectacularly gruesome. We've seen ninja get sliced, stabbed and cut up but seeing ninja get mutilated in such a new way just made things more gory. The best part was when Obito was repeatedly punching a dude. In the uncensored version you can hear all these mushy sounds as Obito continually punches his face area. I say "face area" because the dude didn't have a face left. Obito punched the dudes face so many times with so much force that the face of the skull was completely shattered. There was also this red liquid pouring out of Obito fist. It could just be blood but considering the way the dudes face was smashed in, I'm pretty sure that it was his skin, brain, eyes and muscle tissue liquified into a red smoothie. I just can't get enough of it. Every single one of Obito's kills was fueled by anger. You can just tell that there was nothing but pure rage with every step Obito takes. I just wish there was more of it.
Going through this list made me realize just how much I love the Storm interpretations of a lot of these fights. Admittedly Storm messes with power scaling in absolutely mind boggling ways on occasion (The 5 Kage BEATING MADARA in Storm 3 was ludicrous and it's hilarious) but I'm willing to overlook it for the INSANITY of stuff like the Storm 3 Naruto vs Sasuke fight or everything involving Jubito in Storm 4.
Bro its insane the .music for both naruto vs sasuke fights is ethereal and its from a fucking cyber connect game. Actual masterpieces in terms of soundtrack imo
I know it's not technically a "naruto" fight, but Naruto and Sasuke vs Momoshiki is absolutely my favorite fight in the series, and probably all of anime. The choreography is EXCEPTIONAL, the music slaps and it shows to bort that his dad can throw hands. As for Hiruzen vs Orochimaru... the actual action points are nice yes but the fight comes to a screeching halt when we have to deal with the soul tug-of-war for multiple chapters/episodes. You could argue that the fight is "over" from that point, but it just really brings it down for me.
And the soul tug of war feels unnecessary. The snakes just stick to binding Enma rather than biting the crap out of them and killing them through poison. If they're passive because of Orochimaru being unable to use his jutsu then can't Enma just transform back into his pole form to become skinnier and help finish the job of sealing Orochimaru away?
Sakura Vs Ino is very much so a cannon event! When you realize a guy is not worth losing yourself and your potential!? Iconic! Love the video all the same :)
I really liked the Ginkaku and Kinkaku vs Darui one. It had an original gimmick, which made it interesting. And the way Darui changed his most said word while being sucked was pretty funny. I think that fight was distinctly better than all the other begining-of-war ones.
The fact that you put Obito vs Kakashi out of the top 5 or even the top 10 should be a war crime but the rest of the list was pretty good. Great vid tho.
I think a lot of why you said Madara vs the army was so high could also be said about Kakashi vs Obito. Hype, art, direction, and payoff I think is about the same level. But I actually totally agree with your explanations to this point. Just don't think that makes them better than Kakashi vs Obito. But that's what makes this show so great, we can all relate to different moments more
One fight I would have liked to have seen you discuss is Shikamaru and Asuma vs The Sound Platoon. It isn't much but it's a compelling character moment for Shikamaru where he's decided to be a sacrificial decoy, knowing he's going to die but chooses to fight in the essence of stalling for time in a cat and mouse game while Naruto and Sakura head off to face Gaara only for Asuma to come in at the end and save him. I would've probably given it some D Tier maybe even C Tier shine personally.
I think PTS sasuke vs Orochimaru is the most underrated fight in the series. The choreography, the sense of flow, the use of the forest , the creative use of jutsus as well. I wish Naruto tapped into unsettling moments like forest of death orochimaru because man was he terrifying
Agreed, I was scared on where the fight would be placed considering his last list had it so low, that fight is godlike, especially for us orochimaru and Sasuke fans, kid Sasuke was a genius
Naruto and Sasuke’s final battle in part 1 is, and always will be, my favorite fight in the series. This was the fight I constantly went onto RU-vid to watch as a kid and I never got tired of it. Superb list my man, well done!
Great content. I enjoyed every bit of this video. I think the fight in which Yahiko died deserved a spot on this list (I don't think it's anywhere in this video, sorry if it is), it showed how strong Nagato was and things got really emotional.
The fight with asuma and hidan and all of them is so underrated in my opinion. The cool combo izumo and kotetsu pull off always stood out to me as being really badass. Happy you had it so high up
It’s really cool to see that even after all of these years, the Pt 1 Naruto vs Sasuke fight holds up so well. It was the coolest thing ever, seeing it subbed and on RU-vid way back in the day before it got dubbed. Plus all of the AMVs that it spawned… I’m 28 years old now and it still gives me goosebumps around 17 years later.
end of shippuden one did everything it did but longer and better animation. and ngl as someone who makes amvs it is the most over used overrated naruto fight imo. ik saying overrated is a lot but yall talk ab it like its better than the pain naruto fight, obito kakashi fight, and gaara rock lee fight and im sorry bro but its jus not, maybe in motive but definitely not in motive and on screen action
@@HingleMcCringleberryX21J agreed, the actual build up and situation at hand was better in part 1, part one had a kid named Sasuke constantly tortured by his brother, lost in strength against Naruto rasengan, had kakasbi talk to him and not even listen to what he was saying and to top it all of he got jumped in the night by the sound 4, so he runs off and his best friend Naruto is given a burden to save Sasuke by Sakura, issue is Naruto for the first time in the series doesn't talk no jutsu Sasuke and forces him to stay in the village, that's why Sasuke was all the way in the right, I felt bad for both characters and the animation made even Naruto look almost adorable then in Shippuden they made Naruto not develop and still search for Sasuke but this time it was more pathetic, it became his only goal essentially, and Sasuke? Sasuke was perfect up till the ending of the itachi fight, they told him the truth then made him some emo, and ruined his writing, the second final fight only had us rooting for naruto cuz I mean why root for this badly written Sasuke, 2 things about the fight, they arent kids anymore so it's slightly less sad, Sasuke has a worse design and motive, and Naruto is the only one to cheer for
Kakashi vs Obito is unmatched. The animation, the music, the flash backs, all the meaning and story behind it, it's so powerful. The weight of that fight, basically all Naruto's story starts with them. Kakashi personality, Akatsuki, 4th ninja war, Jiraya Death, Pain, Rin... The show could be called Obito vs Kakashi. The simbolism of the fight, how at one point Kakashi offers his hand and differently from when they were kids, Obito chooses the dark side... Is tough to get any fight above it.
The naruto vs sasuke (part one) is probably the best fight that i ever seen in battle shonen history or even of every media i ever seen or read... I have so much respect of Kishimoto for just this fight alone, from the incredible built up on the entire arc, to the beginning finishing with his incredible end.... just respect for the sensei.
Hiruzen vs Orochimaru was such a goated fight. You initially wouldn't think Hiruzen would still be capable of being such a good fighter and ninja at his age but he ends up blowing that fear out of the water
The fight that is missing and I'd give it a high S tier was Hinata vs Pain interrupting Pain vs Naruto. Her sacrifice, her bravery, the confession, the drama when Pain "killed" her, it was one of my favourite moments in all Naruto, the best love story building moment in the whole series, kinda destroyed by the fact she didn't actually die there but still I didn't know that when I first watched it.
This was so worth the time and effort you put into it. I can’t even put into words how thankful I am personally, and likely how thankful all of us are that you put up with the copyright/other bs it takes to upload for our entertainment. This list was really well done
I'm basically the guy you described at the beginning of the Gaara vs Lee section. I haven't watched a ton of Naruto, mostly just that exam. Obviously I can't really argue with your placement of it since I don't know much about any of the fights higher than it. All I'll say is that Rock Lee became a bit of a role model for me, and when a fight transcends the series it's from and becomes a source of inspiration to me in the real world, well...that's a damn good fight.
Boy am I glad I stayed up this late looking for podcasts to listen to while studying. How in the world you motivated yourself to script this behemoth is beyond me, but then again Roobindale was able to script that 2 hour long history of the yugioh meta video. Considering Roobindale and Swagkage are pretty comparable imo, I'd say I shouldn't be too surprised lol Hold up, is that Master Duel OST?!
Absolutely amazing work here Swag and it can't be said enough. You always come through with top notch videos and commentary. Honestly watching this whole video in one go reminded me of how much impact this show had on me as a kid and also how much I adore every aspect of it so thank you so much. In no way is Naruto perfect, but it's easily one of the most well written animes and delivered in beautiful ways.
Sasuke vs Itachi is the most underrated fight. In addition to the perfect choreography and soundtrack, which would give any human being goosebumps, there is also the construction that the anime did for this fight, which left literally EVERYONE watching anxious about what was going to happen. In addition to representing a lot for Sasuke, who is also extremely underrated, and for me, the best character in the work.
