Matthew Brodericks acting career is underrated IMO, Perhaps it’s the lack of Oscar recognition, but he has played a diverse set of roles across a sustained film career, also in television and theatre. He had starring or featured roles in acclaimed films such as WarGames, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (which garnered a Golden Globe nomination), Biloxi Blues, Glory, The Freshman, Election, You Can Count on Me, and Manchester By the Sea, and even threw in the offbeat gem The Cable Guy and big-budget dud Godzilla, but this was a rare miss. He has also found success with voice roles in The Lion King and Bee Movie. We haven’t even touched on his theatre career where he has won two Tonys and is still the youngest winner of the Best Actor Tony in history. He had a successful run on The Producers that turned into a film opportunity for him. But yes, he’s very strange for marrying Sarah Jessica Parker, since he’s a pretty good looking guy AND is rich so he could get anyone he really wanted.
Really happy you mentioned the Open the Dream Gate title It by far my go to choice for most underrated title in DESIGN alone It ticks me off everytime it’s not even mentioned in the “honorary mentioned” section in great designed World Title belts or similar lists It’s not only beautiful looking but has the best naming gimmick for its title holder and extra feature in my opinion bar none For those unfamiliar here’s what they are: It has a literal gate cover for its center plate that you open to swap holders names And said key is your #1 contendership marking which if you fail to win goes to the reigning champ who adds it to the belts key ring to show off exactly how many people they’ve beaten to retain their title That’s just ingenious and cool, also bragging rights personified And they even had the guts to not be cheap and make each key different so it looks more impressive so each one is unique when shown on the rail on the belt
Misawa won the Tokyo Sports MVP during his last title run. It's amazing that even as beat up as he was at the time, he was still very good. He deserved so much more than to go out the way he did.
Thank God go shiozaki re-elevated the title during the year 2020, with top rated matches include a 5 star match with takeshi. But losing to mutoh was definitely a horrible way to end a great reign.
I actually really liked the suzuki gun invasion. It's just a shame that kenta had just left and morishima retired around that time. I think they messed up by having sugiura defecting though. I remember KES having a really good tag match with big in usa during that period
I always love going back to watching your ranking clips for Japan's top 3 titles. Though I'm curious if your rankings of Nakajima and Kojima slightly changes a little with their recent title reigns. (Edit: I meant Marufuji instead of Kojima. That was completely my bad. Sorry for any confusion).
KENTA not going to WWE is one of the biggest what ifs in wrestling. I always have wondered where his career would have went had he not signed with the company. Would he have suffered the injuries that altered his style? Would he have stayed with NOAH in the long run? A bunch of different questions that would be cool to know the answer to.
I really don't mean to come across as a troll, because its a good video. But i don't think "penultimate" means what you think it means lol. It means second to last. Therefore Koabashi's reign is not the penultimate reign in the titles history.
I swear at one point I thought Noah would be come the best and most prominent promotion in Japan . I am saddened tremendously how bad the Japanese wrestling scene has fallen off . IS there something better than NJPW these days ? Please anybody let me know if there is . NJ is ok but its lost a ton of steam the last few years even . And dont even get me started on we in the U.S. have to offer ! AEW is cool at times but damn . What has happened to the thing I loved most in life since 85 ?
NOAH is doing much better now than in the mid-late 2010s but I don't know if it'll ever be as good or hot as when Misawa and Kobashi were around. All Japan has also been in a bit of a resurgence recently, but the true breakout success story in Japan is the Stardom women's promotion, which is growing rapidly and has some excellent matches and storylines happening.
