Plus, once Zote returns from the Colosseum, she instantly throws out all the paraphernalia she had of the Knight and builds a statue of Zote in her basement. Then when you beat Grey Prince Zote four times, she straight up leaves Hallownest.
@@diegohollerbach7356 I haven't checked in a few months, so I may be wrong, but I thought Elder Bug said she had set out in search of an adventure of her own, after being inspired by Zote's tales of his (greatly exaggerated) conquests.
iirc, when you bet zote's ass in dream realm she starts to progressively realize he ain't all that, so since she believed what Zote said about us, that we were beasts, and Zote was proven to be garbage, she snaps and thinks that her "beloved one" will never come to her, and that it is HER that needs to go for him, so she starts an adventure to find someone@@diegohollerbach7356

@@MaskerHollowKnight videos take time and effort to make and the editing is decent! you even reply to comments, which is becoming less rare, but i can't say there's much to comment on. I hated Hornet and her being important bothered me so much that i eventually was forced by my own brain to consider Why she acted the way she did. yes, i know this isn't a morality ranking, but you can't take a game full to the brim with detail to consider and just Not consider it when putting something out a video meant to encompass something as nebulous as niceness. You could flip it on its head and maybe make jokes out of easy misconceptions but its like you didn't even play the game. And maybe you didn't! Did you have fun making this or did you make it because you felt obligated? I haven't even finished watching the video so maybe I'll eat my words, but this... this is a tragedy. this is Sad. go find something you love and do your absolute best on it- above and beyond, not just your first impressions but- you could even use the MLA format to help you along with breaking out of just one side of the dichotomy. Please don't skim the surface as if that's all that's there- it's incredibly boring. P.S. Hornet Dissection: She's probably tired of having false hope for a nigh endless flow of hopeless vessels, and maybe the vessels aren't just hopeless, but dangerous to her and the people she tries to protect, but honestly the title Princess Protector doesn't really fit the way I first expected. She has the haughtiness of a princess, she's born of royal blood, and she protects Hallownest by... purifying the infected masses. Because of that, she doesn't participate in her community like a political monarch would usually be expected to, so she's trapped beneath the surface until a vessel actually proves its strength- and she can't just let you at the dreamers or the black egg will leak more infection and you have a Time Limit to worry about and if she slacks on preventing Any of this everyone is Dead and she hasn't had a break in decades, if not centuries, except nope, time doesn't move in Hallownest anymore. She's drained and she has to be constantly vigilant and she's barely a princess anymore and mourning has become tiresome, Hopeless Vessels have become pests instead of siblings. There are too many vessels to mourn. Her mother, however, is the one person she will allow herself a moment of weakness for, and you end her. She has no reason to believe in you except that you keep going. She has no reason to believe that anything will get better and yet she works tirelessly. I'd be surprised if by the time Silksong rolls around she doesn't collapse in some way after so long of having to be strong around the clock.
She’s outright hostile at first, but after you challenge her for the king’s brand she’s an invaluable ally, and earns a lot of points for that. I’d say low A tier as well
When I finally got the Monarch wings I said to myself "F it, I will not visit the upper entry to the mines" so I don't fight her and maybe at the end of the game she can be desinfected. That's my headcanon, and, well it is canon in my head and hearth
I remember going to check on her to make sure she was alright, seeing that she was still mining, looking perfectly fine. I was happy, and approached her, before… Myla… I’m so sorry…
cornifer and his wife are literally scamming you by telling that the map will automatically update while you travel but in reality you have to pay for every area + markers.(jk he and the stag are the two gigachads of the game)
The Pale King: The Pale King arrived in Hallownest as a Wyrm (seen in Kingdom's Edge as the Outcast Shell). After dying he transforms into the form we find him in the White Palace. His story is that he wanted to make Hallownest his own Kingdom which lead to wars between the different tribes (mantis, bees, moths etc.) The leader of the moth tribe (the Radiance) HATED the Pale King and casted a very dangerous infection upon the Kingdom in order to stop him. To stop it, the Pale King had about 1 million children (the vessels, one of which are you) with the White Lady. He wanted to find the perfect one to contain the infection. He let all of the other ones die in the Abyss. He then trained the Pure Vessel (the chosen vessel for the infection containing process), to be as strong and mindless as possible. Then he sealed it with the infection in the temple of the black egg to suffer eternal torture. He deserves his own tier below F. The White Lady also doesn't deserve such a high tier considering that she knew all of her children were going to die. By the way: You cannot take the godhome fights of NPCs into account for their ranking as they don't know that they are there or at least, are very confused as to what is actually going on and they don't have much of a choice. They didn't choose to fight you there. You did. The only Bosses that know what is happening are (at least who I know of) Hornet (partially), Grimm, NKG, Pure Vessel (probably but that is best to not think about) and the Radiance.
Lore drop here! So basically the grubs become flying creatures but need a safe space. Dreamnail him! Also the pale king killed thousands of his kids. The abyss floor is made of their skulls. That’s where the siblings come from.
My fav part of hallownest lore for some reason is when pale king tested if the white palace is possible then when he got on his throne just died of Exhaustion
I know this is a joke but the white palace isn't actually real, at least not the one we parkour through. It's a metaphor. It's all in a kingsmould's dreams. When he was around, the radiance was killing everyone, and it was a very painful time. No one knew where the king was, and this guard spent a lot of time marching around the palace, so he could only imagine it to be an incredibly painful place, filled with sawblades, thorns, and impaling spikes. This is also why the path of pain is the most painful place in hallownest. The pain of the pure vessel becoming destined to fail was so great that it was like being cut by a million sawblades. "To witness secrets sealed, one must endure the hardest punishment," the secret being the pure vessel getting an emotion, and the punishment being enduring the path of pain.
So, about the Pale King: From the perspective of this list (how nice they are to the Knight), D tier is probably pretty reasonable, since the only direct interaction between him and the Knight was Pale King leaving the Knight behind in the Abyss as Pure Vessel followed him out of there. However, I don't think he deserves nearly as much hate as he gets, overall. His plan to seal the Radiance required terrible sacrifice, but by that point, I don't think he had any good options available. As soon as the Radiance was forgotten and the Infection started, the King was faced with the impossible choice of watching his beloved Hallownest fall and all his people die (or worse) to the Infection, or following the only plan he could think of in a desperate bid to save them, even at the greatest cost imaginable. I think it is also important to remember that although the Pale King's plan demanded great sacrifice from others, he did not spare himself any pain. In fact, with the exception of Hollow, he may have suffered for it more and sacrificed more than any other bug. He worked with Void, almost certainly knowing the danger it posed to him. He probably risked his relationship with the White Lady in order to secure Herrah's service as a dreamer. He sacrificed millions of his own children (or former children, or potential children, depending on your interpretation) to the Void to create the vessels, and finally, after raising Pure Vessel from childhood and bonding with them, he had to seal them away in the Black Egg. He then got to live the rest of his life with the crushing regret of all that he had done, and the pain of all that he had lost, until (probably) the Void finally killed him. Bottom line: I don't think it's a coincidence that the inscription "A true servant gives all of the kingdom" is found on a fountain made in the likeness of the Pale King. In a situation where both options were terrible, he did what he thought was best. For him, there was no cost too great for Hallownest, and after exploring Hallownest and falling in love with it myself, after seeing so much beauty even in its fallen, broken state, I can't help but understand the sentiment.
Grub father doesn't eat the grubs, the grubs went inside him so they can turn into the next stage, weather it be a butterfly or a beetle or whatever. Its a normal thing in nature
About Grimm, there's not actually a whole lot in the game implying whether or not the Troupe is evil or not. The use of red and black, and the references to nightmares, all make them sound like the bad guys but it's sort of implied that they're something of a cleanup crew, coming to Hallownest because it's full of old dreams that had been left behind and cleaning them up as part of the ritual. Though, of course, that doesn't suddenly make it ok that the Nightmare's Heart brainwashes everyone who joins the Troupe...
The dreamers straight up try to end you by trapping you in the dream world, fortunately you get dream nail and escape, wouldn't say they're s tier as they actively try to destroy your soul
Well they do extremely important job of containing infection but they have very weakened up in this process so they don't fight with us as they cannot suffer anymore and after seeing how miserable is infected crossroads to travel my respect for dreamers has increased
"Go no further, little shadow. What compels its climb out of the darkness? What compels its return to this sacred kingdom?" They are asking amongst themselves what made us (the vessel) escape the abyss and attempt to break the seal on the black egg temple. "A call from beyond the Seals? By the Vessel, or by that captive light?" They are asking if we were called by the radiance or the Hollow Knight in the temple. "Would the Seals break? They cannot be undone. But the Vessel weakens. That plague springs anew. They must be undone." They are asking if the seal will break soon, as the hollow knight is wearing out, and the radiance might fully escape soon. They are deciding if they should let us break the seal and try to replace the hollow knight or if the seal is strong enough to not. "Yet still our Seals remain. Our duty holds. It must be cast away. Our duty holds. It shall be done." They have decided that the seal is strong enough to not risk it with us. What this means is that they conclude that they should not risk a vessel replacing the hollow knight. Their only way to do this is to trap the vessel in an eternal sleep, in the dream realm. So they had a good reason, and they didn't even kill you. Just a literal eternal sleep. Luckily a moth gives us a dream nail to cut out of the dream realm and proceed with our mission.
I'm pretty sure that Eternal Emilita is a canibal that ate all her friends and possibly thinks about eating the knight too, but she doesn't. Gotta give her some cred there. Also the madness that is connected to her canibalizing her friends saved her from the infection, because she doesn't sleep. So canibalism is good if you're a bug, because it caused her to no attack the knight (or they just didn't look tasty). Nicest canibal I've ever met - at least B tier for me

I’m… 1:18 into the video and already disagreeing. Divine? A Tier? With how she treats you? She insults you multiple times, demands you give her your fragile charms, *eats them* and demands more geo than literally anything else in the game to get it back (but unbreakable). And your point on Godhome? You… can just use the fragile charms. It’s in the dream world they don’t break
grubfather eating the grubs is him sacrificing himself so the grubs can metamorphosise into grubberflies because when they come out of him he will die you can tell this through grubberflys elegy and the fact you can faintly hear grubs inside of him
If anyone put Grub Father in F tier, maybe you never searched about it, in the charms and secret room you can find images of grubs with wings, suggesting they can fly after evolving, so maybe the grub father eats them becaus it’s their circle of life, so they can become flying grubs
I've seen this theory a lot and I feel like it's just wishful thinking, hk is all about misleading appearances, a bank teller who's really a thief, a father who misses his kids actually just manipulates us for a free meal ig, basically the only talking characters in deepnest bait you into a trap bench, etc. unfortunately i think losing the grubs we so devotedly rescued fits with the themes :(
dreamers should be f tier. they literally sealed you away in the dream dimension until the moth saved us by giving us the dream nail. you put dreamers and divine in a and s tier becuase of their uses, when the video is about how NICE they are
@mandu9979 Herrah doesn't even care. She knows her situation is just like death and she knows that her offspring Hornet is alive so she doesn't care if she dies and the seals break or not.

@@karinlarsson3150 actually if you were to listen to the queen you’ll find out that he did it to save his kingdom from the radiance. Trying to make the hollow knight.
Swap the Pale king with Hornet. The pale king is the reason the game is happening in terms of the lore. He has a kid with his wife which gives birth to a TON of the other hollow knights which mass genocide was commited to your in-game brothers and sisters until a 'PURE' vessel remained which the guy you play as was tossed out and it's a miracle or act of chance to know HOW YOU ESCAPE THE PIT!!!!!!!.... He also has an affair with the leader of Deepnest which gives birth to Hornet you've kind of placed in F TIER.. Which I want a re-evaluation on her; She act's the way she does to the knight because Hallownest was or is in such a state because of the Pale King and his kids which include her and the mass of VOID CHILDREN. She hates herself as much as she hates the knight and her mother, one of your S TIER Dreamers who sent you to the DREAM the first go when you attain the Dreamnail did so just to keep the radiance sealed. The bit is, the dreamers in S tier don't know the seal is failing and the radiance is escaping to cause the infection ALL OVER AGAIN because YES, IT HAPPENED BEFORE THE GAME STARTED AND THAT TOO WAS CAUSE BY THE PALE KING!!! He though himself a god thus had the bugs worthship his pale end. He converted the other bugs where Hallownest was being built and THEY were worshiping the Radiance. Because of the Pale King, He started the infection, tried to clean it up in the most hap-hazard way possible, had an affair to force 3 other bugs to dream eternally to put a band-aid over a hole in the bottom of a boat and that hole is a mile wide.... He's Below F tier, He's Z Tier.... AND HIS WHITE PALACE?! F*** Z-TIER, HE DESERVES A TIER WORSE THAN ALL LIVING THINGS!!!!.... And Hornet, seeing both her home and people being turned by the Radiance and the Pale King being both the cause of the infection, her creation and the failing seal; It's understandable why she's angry with the knight, and when you play as the knight trying to fix this mess, she fights you so you'll do better and pick the hardest path to rid Hallownest of the infection.
Pale king threw hundreds of his children into the abyss but also founded Hallownest, gave all the bugs brain cells and the infanticide was to protect Hallownest so I would but somewhere in the middle
Hallownest fell because when the hollow knight was still the size of our knight it was showm affection by the pale king Thus it was sno longer truly hollow and tried to make it's father proud The pale king messed and didn't even realise
Grubfather Is S-tier he uses himself as a coccon to evolve his children in grubflies Maybe he could die So he is scarificing himself for his children So definitely s-tier
The Pale King is the one who gave all the bugs a mind to think, created vessels, but only problem was infection/radiance. He needed a perfect vessel to seal it and killed other vessels by throwing them in the void (knight included) so they dont become infected and cause a bigger problem. Then once he found the Hollow Knight/Pure Vessel, he sealed the radiance in it and called the 3 dreamers to help seal the black egg temple to save Hallownest temporarily.
Another thing about Stag, he literally is concerned for our safety in deepnest, as when you talk to him he tells you he doesn’t feel safe for himself and the knight and insists he take us to another station away from the potential danger
- sheo and mato both deserve at least A tier. oro is fine where he is though - hornet deserves a B. she did try to kill us twice but it was somewhat justified. she also saved our ass once and risks her life to help us get to radiance - grimm deserves S tier, or A tier to the very least. the guys not being mean to you, he respects you and your combat abilities - pale king threw you into the abyss as a toddler alongside thosands of your siblings, locked you in there and left you there to die. not the greatest dad. F tier - i dont care quirrel is at the top of S tier, he deserves to be higher
@@FruitOfTheFold hes the only nailmaster that charges geo for teaching his nail art, plus hes generally much colder towards the player. he does care abt us deep down but hes still not the nicest of the three
I will agree with the buzzsaws but he threw the eggs of the vessels in the abyss for the sake of the kingdom. Still not the best king, but definitely not evil.
Why did you put grimmsteed in F tier? They literally don't do anything to the player And also Tuk is a girl, and grubfather did eat all grubs because it's part of the grubs evolution
I might be mistaken, but fragile charms do't break on dream realms, and god home is god seeker's dream. so fragile charms don't break when u're in god home
@@MaskerHollowKnight also first off the godseeker and godhome fights arent really real they never really happened but this is what the pale king did im assuming you know this but imma just say it anyway so he and the white lady had like thousands of kids who are the vessels of which the player character is one of them the hollow knight is also a vessel they used void to try and make a hollow vessel to contain the radiance
Actually if she escapes with all the geo you can get back even more geo, which is very useful, it's like investing but investing in shit. (you can get like 25% more geo than you gave ger in the first place) She still is asshole though
grimm is kinda evil since he wants to "extinguish the last embers of the dying kingdom" which doesnt really mean anything in game but it could mean hornet isnt able to bring back hallownest although its debatable whether she could since the beacon of the pale king is dimming out anyway
I really like this. Although, I disagree with some NPCs you put. Imo Elderbug should be in A tier, mainly because he's a pretty memorable character. Plus, he's even nicer if he has the delicate flower. Why is Zote on F? He should be in Z tier. I kinda think Hornet should be in B tier, but yeah, she doesn't tell us silksong release date so F tier for her.

Hey just a little tip: if you make videos like this it would be nice if you put the characters in some kind of chronical order. Otherwise you cant watch it without getting spoilert instantly if you havent finished it yet completely
yeah, I think in most other videos I've done (this one was a while ago) it has been I chronological order, e.g. the grub ranking, the achievement ranking, and I'm making one currently in a non-spoiler order
BUT MY BOY DUNG DEFENDER ON S TIER NOW, HE SWIMS IN POOP, IS FRIENDLY, AND SOUNDS LIKE HE IS ALWAYS HAVING THE TIME OF HIS LIFE WHEN HE FIGHTS, WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT IN A CHARACTER
if you dream nail the corpse near willow it says something like not food... please... not food showing willow ate it and willow also says with dreamnail "The others were very bland"
grubfather probably didnt eat the grubs, as the achievement is named “metamorphosis,” which basically means something seems so evident and obvious, but its the opposite of what you think. he probably was just a big grub in his hut
“The dreamers are S tier, as they allow the player to complete the game” The dreamers: Try to stop the player from beating the game at every opportunity (except for Monamon), knock the vessel unconscious, try to trap them in the dream world, argue amongst themselves over whether the vessel should succeed in its goal… Ah yes, very “nice”
Okay so, with lore included. I’d think that for the protagonists the pale king would probably be F or D tier. Even if he created hollow nest he sacrificed tons of other vessels purely to do so. And I sure woudnt like someone if they sacrificed a buncha family members of mine purely since they did a fuck up!!! (Which he doesn’t even end up fixing with his idea n all)
Wrong. The vessels aren't really family members or children. They are well... vessels. Vessels that are made to be used for banishing The Radiance. Not children. And Radiance throwing a tantrum is not PK's fault, the moth tribe chose to worship him. He is not the greatest person, but he did everything in an attempt to save his people.
The seer and the moth who give you the dream nail are the same. She should be S tier because she literally saves you from being stuck in the dream realm forever.
i personally would have put pale king at the b, or at the VERY least the c tier. None of the bad things he had done would have happened in the first place if not for the radiance. He gave bugs sentience, never forced others to worship him and didnt even stop the moths from worshipping the radiance if they wanted to. It was the radiance who tried to infect everyone to be her slaves which is why the pale king tried to find a hollow vessel to contain her. I mean he tried to contain her instead of murdering her! Yeah killing millions of vessels was a questionable decision but how else was he supposed to find out who the hollow one was as soon as possible while his people were rapidly being turned into zombies?? (I am basing this off of what i already know, if i know some lore wrong correct me)
@@MaskerHollowKnight to quickly explain the lore to you based off of what i know: Bugs are not sentient Radiance, a god creates moth tribe Pale king, a different god appears, makes bugs sentient, builds hallownest Moths start worshipping pale king, radiance gets forgotten (which is basically death according to seer) Radiance infects the whole kingdom so she can be remembered and live, zombifies bugs Pale king tries to create a hollow vessel made of shade lord who is a third different god and himself and the white lady to seal the radiance away to stop the infection Makes thousands or maybe even millions of these vessels, most of them die in their birthplace The hollow knight who is the first one to make it out alive goes on to seal radiance away Hollow knight isnt actually hollow, radiance keeps infecting people even inside of the hollow knight Pale king is done, seals his palace and himself away in a different dimension, dies The vessel you play with goes into hallownest after being away for an unknown amount of time, depending on your ending theyll either 1) become the next hollow knight, 2) kill the radiance with the help of the hollow knight, or 3) go inside of godseeker's mind to kill the radiance with the help of shade lord and hollow knight lives. Thats about what i was talking about in the comment
