Glad to help, Nathaniel! Despite the microtransactions, the game has become WAY more free to play friendly, and you can still have a good time, especially if you focus on the real-time multiplayer.
I can feel the haters coming, I can hear them saying "You should stop enjoying this money-grabbing free to play mobile gacha game". I like this game because of the combo mechanics, items, drivers, karts, and gliders roster, mission mode, reverse tracks, daily challenges, and the weekly challenges. It's sad that there's not much videos that highlight the game's redeeming qualities because it's a risk that people might stop watching the creators' videos just because they saw 'Mario Kart Tour' in the title. I've been playing this game for a year now without paying a single penny, the microtransactions is not at all harsh, maybe in the first few months, but they give out a lot more chances for free to play players like me to get the high-end stuff, I like how you get a free gold pipe after finishing all the cups in a given tour, this game has become a lot more free to play friendly, yes, they might put a pop-up advertising the gold pass or something but you can just easily get rid of them with a single tap, and continue on playing the game. Also, it finally has real multiplayer now, but they still try to fool people by using real players' name and badge outside of real multiplayer but I'm not really sure if they're really fooling anyone. But that was a great video, I completely agree with Nathaniel's ranking, the combo mechanics really does change the items' use, and this really is a different take on Mario Kart, I really do hope that the good features from this game come to the next mainline Mario Kart since this game has a lot of great ideas such as the combo mechanics, maybe as a side mode, and maybe borrow costume ideas from Tour and turn them into skins (something similar to Yoshi or Shy Guy color switching in 8/8DX but with actual costumes now like in the Smash Bros. series), replace mirror cups with reverse cups or maybe have them both possibly, reintroduce mission mode, and maybe have daily challenges to incentivise players to play the game daily, and maybe earn coins or maybe even power stars as a currency for buying stuff. Too Long; Didn't Read: I like Tour as a free to play player, it's free to play friendly now, and the next mainline Mario Kart game should borrow the good elements from this game.
Also this game doesn't have the music for the Mega Mushroom. In every other game this item appears it always uses that same theme from New Super Mario Bros
Some of these items are really cool! I hope that they are experimenting with this game to see what sticks and what doesn’t for the next Mario Kart game.
I kinda wish he listed the music he uses in his videos like ScottTheWoz does. Like that Pokemon music he used was a bop and fit in pretty well but I don't remember what game it's from.
RIP blooper: at least in the past, you needed a shroom, star or something like that to get rid of the ink, now all you need is a mini turbo or jump boost
About the Mushrooms in Tour: opponents are able to get a bit of speed boost if they drive directly into the Mushroom you hold behind you. So opponents CAN share your Mushroom kinda, so long as you haven't used it yet.
Good to see you're still playing this! Personally I rlly like it just because it is always changing and improving (case and point, Maple Treeway and Team Rally)
3 Things: 1. 5:35 actually you can use someone else’s mushroom if you go up right behind them 2. Lightning attacks everyone, no matter what position you’re in. 3. The super star also appears in multiplayer. I know that Mario Kart Tour isn’t exactly the best game to grind, but I think you could’ve done at least a bit more research, especially since Mankalor helped you, and he plays Mario Kart Tour for a living
This game added a ton of new items, and I'm also glad that everything from double dash returned (aside from the chain chomp but that made it into mario kart live home circuit)
Seeing all these item, tracks, characters and karts just make me sad that these are in mk tour and not 8 deluxe Heres hoping mk9 will be similar in terms of ongoing content
I think the green shells are better than the bananas since they can bounce back and have more than one chance of striking any single opponent. Also, people can get boosts off your mushrooms from behind, and I think the Bullet Bill completely ruins good combos (bubbles at least give you combos while they're wasting your time...but they're terrible because they stay in your inventory and you can't tap to pop. But it's the same with the Bullet Bill. Whenever I try to steer that thing, it always avoids things I want to go through).
Seeing that the Blooper can give you lots of points if you're in lower positions, I would apply this to the POW Block if that item were to make it into the game.
"That'll make me a little annoyed if they add more items after this." The feather, capsule, super bell, and super leaf would like to know your location.
Hey Mario Kart fans out there, you guys should make a fan-made feature-length Mario Kart CGI-animated movie call: A Karttacular Mario Kart Movie! and the quality of A Karttacular Mario Kart Movie! needs to be both absolutely incredible and absolutely gorgeous to look at than your average low-budgeted fan-made projects these days, it'll genuinely make you feel like you're actually watching a official Mario Kart CGI-animated movie.
People have probably already said this but you can get the star in multiplayer and points on multiplayer count towards the grand stars on the track you play.
The first clip with the MKW item, you use footage of you using the item ok the MKW track and mention the name of the game and that is oddly satisfying.
Actually Bullet Bill is the worst item, i mean, it stops you from getting combos and it always spawns you in terrible places, its frienzy is kind of nice but the single item is so bad, at least bubble helps you with combos...
Despite the micro transactions, I do enjoy this game and see a lot of stuff I would like to see in future console Mario Karts (special items return, track modifications, more character costumes/alts, etc).
