I’m definitely interested for whenever you make a Palette Swap episode for Xianghua, because her outfits are usually more elaborate than Kilik and Maxi.
sc2 maxi will always be my favorite, particularly his 2p. i LOVE the mullet they gave him in that game and the outfit is so iconic. i wish i liked the sc4 updated version or the sc5 continuation of the look but they used the wrong shade of yellow for the blond, it just didnt work well imo. maxi has surprisingly a lot going on in sc2, 3, and 4, and then between 4 and 5. his initial fight with astaroth resulted in all his limbs being shattered, and the only way he could be healed enough to fight again was to have a soul edge shard inserted inside him. this results in bloodlust and a thirst for violence which he had to constantly fight himself on so that he wouldnt spiral further as he hunted for astraroth ii. it also resulted in partial memory loss where he forgets who kilik and xianghua were to him but he knew they existed and he knew for some reason that kilik might know how to help him reign in his urge to be violent. he also became extremely lonely because he was traveling by himself and then ultimately decided he wouldnt travel with kilik and x after he found them because he realized they were in love and he didnt want to burden them with his troubles. the urge for violence and bloodlust became harder and harder for him to control as time went on though, so i feel like it would have been cool to see him become slowly more disheveled throughout the games. by sc5, he could go back to being all clean looking though since edge master has taught him by that point how to control himself
Also 2p costumes from 4 are made with cas parts so of course they're not as detailed like in 1 2 3 where they're original, with some exceptions like Jester Voldo in 5 that is great.
I think I can agree. They pretty much found what they wanted to do with him and stuck with it more or less, so he doesn't get any crazy fits here and there that other fighting game characters are bound to have.
This is a really good video and all the other videos in the series before it. I’ve been on a binge watching kick with your videos. I would like for you to discuss the Blazblue series. I know that almost all the characters only ever have 1 costumes but maybe you can group them together in a video to have more material to work with like what you did with the next generation fighters from Soul Calibur 5.
Maxi 2p from Sc2 is my favourite too, that blond hair style was also Elvis real colour and look before becoming a legend, his agent told him to change his colour to black because blond was too feminine, well other times.
Ahh Maxi, I don't play him much, but when I do, I usually have a good time, I don't really have much to say about his design tbh. As for any characters I would like to see covered, you've actually already done most of them, (Siegfred, Tira, Heihachi, Kilik, both Yoshimitsu's) and tbh, most of the one's I have in mind are ones that don't have much to work with, the only one I think has maybe enough is Mokujin, he's appeared in the most games, but most of the designs are mostly the same, I'll let you decide. (And maybe you can throw in Combot as well)
it's about damn time, finally. my boi maxi has got one of the great costumes in soul calibur series, but, l agree, soul calibur 2 2nd costume for maxi is still incredible, l loooove this costume. so, anyway, the next one: how about kunimitsu's ranked costume from tekken series?
I might cover him in-depth eventually, but here's the short version. SE1P: A simple, classic martial artist look. Like Siegfried's 1P from this game, it gets the job done but doesn't really stand out. 5/10. SE2P: Not a fan of this one. He looks like some random thug from a beat-em-up. 4/10. SE3P: The armor stands out from his other designs, and the flame/dragon motifs are memorable. 6/10. SCIII1P: The shade and added details makes this costume a lot more unique and stylish. 8/10. SCIII2P: A slight improvement over the original. He looks more like a monk now, which I think si what the old version was going for. 5/10.
Would you ever consider ranking all of the bonus character outfits from SoulCalibur 2, 3 and 4 in one video? I think they'd all be really interesting to talk about, but (with the exceptions of Amy, Hwang, Li Long and Arthur), none of them appear in more than one game. I'm especially interested to hear your thoughts on the SC4 bonus characters, since their designs are some of the most adventurous in the series. You could also throw in Dampierre, since he's a DLC character in his only mainline appearance (SCBD doesn't count, fight me).
If you'll allow me to be a bit greedy, I'd also like to hear your thoughts on Chester, Abelia and Luna's 3P costumes, even though they're not playable.
In my eyes Maxi was just a replacement for Li long because when I frist playd soul calbur I was like weres Li long so I did not play as him i felt he had a better story then maxi.
