Smash Run should’ve been an Online Mode or even a Regular Mode in Ultimate.

This video reminded me about the hell of Smash 4's classic mode and Smash Tour But at the same time, Smash 4 started up the popularity of many Smash RU-vidrs, so it still deserves acknowledgement

I really miss the loud voice of N64: "BREAK THE TARGETS!!" and "BOARD THE PLATFORMS!!"

The beauty of Smash is that you can go on an epic quest to save dozens of game worlds and thousands of characters from two all-mighty deities representing light and darkness, and then two minutes later you can beat up a sandbag for fun.

I spent so many hours of my time in high school playing Smash Run over and over again. It is so damn good.

I miss Smash Run so much, it's why I play Smash 3DS still, and why it's my favorite version of Smash. I also like how Classic was handled on the 3DS, but that's just me, and the final battle against Master Core was fun. There is a part of me that hopes that after this last batch of DLC, They decide to make an updated Smash Run mode for Ultimate, maybe if they see they have enough room to add it, but, like Shantae getting in, I'm not holding my breath for that. And I already know that Sakurai said that Home Run contest was pretty much the last mode we'd get, but I can only hope.

Not a day goes by where I’m not sad Smash Run never returned. Glad you put it at #2, it deserves more love.

The cool part about this video is that now you can fight against Spirits in the Collection menu once you've collected them. Fun stuff.

While not a "mode" I have been liking the reveal trailers that Smash has been doing since Smash 4 (Brawl if you count their Subspace introductions).

I'm glad you came around to Spirits like me and hopefully a lot of other people did. I'd still like another attempt at a full platformer-style Adventure Mode, but I think it shouldn't be undersold how Spirits is a long overdue evolution to the Event mode, which kind of felt like it was mostly doing the same stuff since Melee.

I think world of light is great personally. I really loved all the clever ways they represented characters using a mix of characters, items, abilities, and stage hazards. It was fun figuring out why each fight was the way it was

Time for me to show my bias, my favorite route in classic mode is Terry's, because they used the 3 team mechanic of Smash to replicate The King of Fighters, and that's awesome!

THANK YOU for saying the Pauline battle was bad, it took me so long to actually beat it.

Sure, the Spirits might be a downgrade in some areas, but you gotta realize that a lot of spirits have art that isn't easy to find anymore, or is quite old. It's nice to have these older art pieces in high quality.

I definitely really like how all of the classic modes in ultimate were themed too each character. It is made it fun to go through them and see what inspirations I can recognize. I think my only major issue with smash Brothers ultimates was that the world of light was not two player. This seems strange to me when spirit board was too player and we found a lot of the same spirits appearing there as in campaign. we played spirit board so much to begin with because of this limitation, that by the time we got to world of Life it was a hilarious smackdown. It would have been great if world of lights was a buddy cop adventure of Kirby and Bayonetta saving the universe!

i actually loved world of light. while it will never hold a candle to subspace emissary in brawl or even the adventure mode from melee, it was epic in its own right. i feel like your mistake was going for the 100%. i can totally understand it feeling tedious then. if you are just playing it casually and only going for the ending, it feels way more like an actual campaign mode. also, not sure why people always say the spirit upgrades barely matter. with the right combo, you could totally change up a characters play style. turn bowser from a slow tank to a speed king with amazing harrassment potential.

Dude EVENT MATCH was my jam!!!! Beating all the events in melee was a huge journey back in the day. Always bummed the event match quality died with Melee

The Masterpiece Demos were linked to the eShop, which is why certain titles didn't appear. Also, the only third party title that appeared, IIRC, was Pac-Man, which is likely because Namco helped develop it.

I feel I should note that two of those Hamtaro games Nintendo did (namely Ham-Hams Unite and Ham-Ham Heartbreak) are actually pretty solid. Miyamoto even had a hand in them too. If you're at all curious, they're worth a look I think.

I wholeheartedly agree that "There's a whole lot more to Smash bros than just the vs mode" and it's why I put far less time into Smash 4 and Ultimate then Melee or even Brawl. I generally play Smash alone, and 4 and Ultimate may be HUGE improvements over Brawl for the core gameplay and character selection, but as a single player experience and having a variety of modes and content, both are lacking.

Classic Mode in Ultimate is fucking amazing it's so much fun seeing every characters route. However could wish for more variety in each final boss. Obviously having a unique one for every character would be way too much but would be cool if more had like megamans route ended. Also i love Smash Tour it really puts you to the test to see how well you can adapt to the character you pick up

You forgot to talk about the boss battle mode in brawl. It's basically all-star mode, but with the bosses from subspace instead

actually, joker's classic route is cleverer than you think. many people already know, but when you enter a new stage you have a fighter from the previous match as your teammate, which is a nice reference to the fact you can negotiate with shadows and wield them as personas in persona 5.

Glad to see Spirits at number 4. I put my heart and soul into collecting all those spirits, deciding which ones are the best, and fighting spirits. I'm a bit confused about World Of Light being number 22,though, considering World Of Light is very similar to Spirits.

This list of modes is one of the reasons why I consider smash bros to be basically an essential game to all the consoles that have one. I am just a casual fan, I was really into the series from 64 up until brawl, but these games are always fun to pop up and to check out all the modes and small details they have. I love how much content they cram into these games, and they are responsible for having so many hours of fun. Melee and Brawl in particular are some of the ones I played the most, and I really liked the random things you were doing when not battling it out. With smash 4 and ultimate life has gotten in the middle if things so I have not checked them out as much, but these games will always hold a special place in my heart for all of the Nintendo charm they have.

Really glad you at least showed the marx boss battle cause this is by far my favorite boss in ultimate. It's so good and really shows how marx is in Kirby. You know just from the perspective of a fellow Kirby fan👍😁
