I gotta say this, these power ups dont feel tds like, they feel like a response to tdx's rising popularity recently.

I like the new update but I kinda wish they made the power ups buyable like TDX, I hate having to gamble to get a nuke instead of being able to just buy it

I made accelerator deal alot of dps with supports and flags (I used commander, dj, mecrenary for dmg buff and all flags on accelerators). Buffed accelerator stats were 72 dmg, 0.06 firerate (0.05 with coa) with 31 range. Single accel able to deal 1440 dps. I try out all buffs with different towers for fun

My opinion on the situation: Though yes, it's not exactly a copy of TDX, it does feel like TDS did not need these power ups at all. Not to mention how it's really easy to tell which ones you "want" and "Don't want". I read the comments and saw people arguing about TDX and TDS abilities, so I'll make their differences known. Though power ups in TDX are in-fact pretty expensive, they are way more damage based and are meant to be a game saver, while TDS shows it to be more of just a 'for fun' type style. (This is merely my opinion and how I see things ^) Though it seems like the issue with TDS now is that they aren't working on genuine content, instead they release a 'huge' update involving 12 abilities that already have a selective group of "this is useful" and "This is useless". Me personally I see TDX's system to be way better for "power-ups" compared to TDS. TDS just appears to have added the abilities for that 'cool' factor, while TDX added them for not just the 'cool' factor, but also to be way more helpful. Not to mention if you don't like having a certain ability because it's not as useful, or you know it isn't necessary, you can just buy the power up that fits your needs as opposed to the gambling (Which is likely intended to increase your playtime in TDS. In other words, money generation from you playing their game.) Though yes some might argue TDX has some 'gamble' to it seeing that all the power ups you earn from matches are totally random, at least the perks you get are actually helpful, for example the AC-130, an item which if you have an entire hoard in a **difficult** mode, you can 100% clear it and probably keep the item for another two waves, which will render it much more useful than TDS's current perks, which appear to be there to help you in early game so that when you make it to late game you have an easier time. Like I said, everything here is OPINION. I do not hold anything against either side for having their opinions. This is also meant to reply to some comments out there mentioning the TDX vs TDS power-ups.

I did some math that might be wrong but basically The max total dps of 8 accelerators with the atk speed flag, damage flag, commander and merc base gives all 8 accelerators a WHOPPING 6379.744 DPS or somewhere around that. We tested it in black spot exchange and did accel plus pursuit dps and it shredded the fallen boss in like 20 seconds. Might be broken but hey, thats funny

If you ask me, the crates should be able to be gotten from the daily quests, not the weekly ones. It's just more bloat to the reward pool, which means waiting even longer until you finally get a weekly for that Deluxe or Phantom crate that you've been searching for. It's a neat addition, sure, but I feel like it could've been implemented better. The fact that you get multiple items per crate is nice, at least, but it'd be nice if there was a way to directly buy the powerups that I wanted instead of having to gamble for 'em.

Nuke: deals 50k damage and wipes out almost every non boss enemy. Reaver: stop that tickles.

Barricade is my favorite because it's easy to get plus its so useful for early game.

noone has pointed this out but dying when the crate falls on top of you is a refrence to one of John Roblox's videos about TDX's release during 2023 april fools. John plays the game with his friend who mentioned that when the farm crate fell on his head it should have killed him. explain this plz

by using a few barricades in the early game you can spawn kill all the enemies,its basically glad/g scout for newer players...

At least there’s a gamemode where I can chill! Now, I’m getting motivated to play Hardcore more often cuz of Consumables, I can play hc normally instead of OP CONSUMABLES

Despite all the hate towards this update it’s still very good. I would buff the nuke towards 75k or make the radiation effect stronger

I believe this update is geared towards newer players, as high level players with high dps towers do not need powerups to help them win. This can be seen in how some of these powerups aren't very good, with exceptions being the flags and obliviously the supply drop as CORSO has stated. Most of the updates in fact have been geared towards newer players, like the new "Intermediate Mode" and the reworking of semi-decent towers like the crook boss and the military base. The introduction of the trapper tower also points to how Below's updates favor new players, as the trapper is quite useless compared to towers like engineer and accelerator. One can speculate that in the future, Below will include more updates that favor the more experienced players. Also, one of the drawbacks from the patient zero update was that Molten Mode now gives only 400 coins instead of 500, which will exponentially decrease the amount you can make with molten.

I was really hoping power ups wouldn’t be that powerful or buy each one. I was hoping it would be a one time use with each power up in a game though they’d have to be really weak. So the nuke could cost like 50k and it deals 1k damage.

When i heard that the consumables are disabled on hardcore that when i knew i was screwed up I just had skill issue on hardcore

range flag and uav can be op because of a glitch, if you place a dj and then use uav or/and range flag on it, dj will buff towers that were previously out of his range and then when the range buff ends they keep the dj' buffs so it can be S tier combined with dj

The flight detection that the UAV gives is pretty much pointless since you can't use it in hardcore I mean it's useful for events but those are temporary (Shut up if yall say I forgot balloon kids from pizza party)

3:01 no you still need flight detection cause these power ups cannot be used in hardcore mode (aka the one mode where'd they'd ACTUALLY be useful...) I also assume you won't be able to power ups in events either, so unless the reworked fallen mode has flying enemies, the uav giving flight detection is literally MEANINGLESS!

not going to lie, this update is pretty disappointing. The VIP+ just seems like another cash grab, and the abilities really don’t serve much purpose, even the nuke. The nuke is pretty weak and isn’t worth it.

Damage flag can't stack with other towers, like mercenary base buff. They can't be stacked together but it's op.

The fact that the devs had to lock consumables in hardcore shows that it's completely unbalanced and kinda ruins the need for strategy in the game I really hate consumables in TDs when they're used like they are in TDS and TDX

im sure you can solo p2w now, the problem isnt really the final boss but the enemies, and there are a lot of wave 40 runs. maybe use nuke then dmg buff for last wave

as a military nerd im gonna tell you the names of all the planes that appear in the powerups the fighter jet is based off the Northrop Grumman F-14 Tomcat the drone is based off General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper the plane dropping the supplies is based off the Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules

Minor mistake. It actually cant kill enemy except bosses. In polluted wastelands, there are these guardians that appear on the last wave will 75k up, so no, it cant 1 hit all enemies besides major bosses. That is the only one I currently know of but there may be more enemies.

actually the napalm strike also melts defense and when the enemies are in the fire area they take much higher damage thats why they can do alot of damage as there are 6 of them. the fire passive is overall just an effect and doesn't do much but the more important thing is the area damage it does when the enemies are in an area so it should be used in crowds like the molotov but unlike molotov its much more relaible lategame thanks to being able to do few hundred damage

The Grenade is actually a really good consumable when you load up a game and your defend tower is more expensive. Use Grenade if you don't want to leak any enemies.

I used the supply drops in fallen mode and got a turret by wave 6

the flashbang stuns bosses.. It slows them down by 90% for 4 seconds, i tried it, it works on fallen king

For those who say that power-ups are useless because the game modes are difficult, the developers are working on reworks and new game modes, so they will probably update the old game modes for the current meta, it's just a matter of time, Also, if in this update they added things that cost Robux, by God, the developers need money if they want to continue having quality updates, it is only a matter of time before the items are a little more useful, they are also working on the rework of the commander and a new tower next week. In short, the developers in the game are growing and little by little they obviously need more funds if they want to pay all of them.

b tier for barricade is not fair since the extra farming early game can make the rest of the game that much Easier, probably a tier

Bro the flags are insane I was playing polluted with randoms and the fire rate and damage buff flag with merc base buff was insane we shredded the boss

the cooldown flag increases the firerate and decreases the interval between firing

1:06 Barricade has an interesting use by if you place it at the back but get some defense, it can kinda serve as a failsafe. Obviously, it wouldn’t work if say, a tank leaks through, but I’m surprised you didn’t talk about it.

the range flag can increase commander / dj range (i think) which will allow you to maybe be able to fit more towers or maybe your farms if you want in the dj's range so i think its like a low a tier

Fact: The military base had a an ability which is to Airstrike enemies you can spam this with your team if they all have Military bases the ability is in level 4 The tank upgrade. The air strike plane was fast as the speed of light.

All of these are quite unique, but the Nuke is just *MASSIVELY DEVASTATING!!!!!!!!!!!!*

Imma be honest Supply Drop is actually kinda mid. It's only good if you have farm since because of the power of investments, the more you upgrade it, the more money you get. It's basically the philosophy why lvl 5 farm is good. It takes a while to recoup its money, but it'll be giving you a LOT. GCowboy might also be good, but it doesn't really make as much money. The new intermediate mode and fallen are quite soloable without eco towers, almost as if they're designed for it. Without eco towers, supply drop just gives you slightly stronger towers for like 3 waves

Heads up about firerate and damage buffs. In games where we can increase both RoF and damage . They both work as seperate multiplicative damages to each other. Let say tower does 10 damage with,RoF of 0.5. Dps is 20. Add in commander dps is 31. If we add cooldown powerup which is 20% RoF. It goes like this 55% + 20%. 20 x 1.75. Overall dps is 35. Now lets do it with damage buff and for the sake of it lets say it's 20% damage increase. 20 × (Commander buff) 1.55 x (flag damage buff) 1.20. Overall dps is then 37.2. So you see, it's higher dps. Because with this result i stacked up 2 seperate dps stats. In games key to huge dps is having buffs that are multiplicative to each other and not focusing on singular stat. Anyways in current state if you do commander and use current damage flag. It more than doubles towers dps. Sadly dps buff doesn't increase as much for accel (because of faster overcharge) and engi (sentries aren't affected). Anyways now for fun math part. Overall dps will be 117% increase for most towers.

It's only me, but I start to see more things from tdx in tds Intermediate mode Power ups Nuke (idk what who waa faster) That new tower is like barracks from tdx It's can be only me, but who knows

This update is pretty good however it’s too op and they should slightly nerf all of them tbh and make lost souls and QuickDraw not count with a powerup used

I absolutely love this update. I was able to beat the mission "You're Being Recorded" solo with 3 nukes.

Corso now that there are consumables you can get as much buffs as possible, minigunner and/or Gladiator (with ability) plus commander plus dj plus damage flag plus fire rate flag plus napalm strike (for fire dmg) plus pyro (unfortunately I cant test this out since I don't have Gladiator but it will be cool to see my favorite RU-vidr do it.

grenade goes in A tier btw it's very great for speedruns and it's insane at crowd controlling in gamemodes like pw2 in early(w7-w9) flahbang is D tier purely because it's kinda useless past middlegame lol and it's not rlly effective for time in early/middle, grenade is superior to flashbang in terms of time by a lot barricade is an A/S tier due to how it works, you can just place it right at the entrance and the timesaves in early are going to be CRAZY it's viable in all modes supply drop is S tier i agree, nothing else to say abt it lol airstrike is just a consumable version of military base airstrike and yeah it goes in A tier it's useful on w10/w12/w14 bosses in polluted meaning the timesaves are going to be crazy, but military base is just a better option than it :shrug: molotov is a low C tier you're going to use pyro in most games so it's pretty much useful, also it's burning damage rather than pure damage meaning it's less timesaveable UAV is B tier flight detection is only useful in pzp(hc consumables are banned), so it makes it a great option for duo lost souls without flying defense if you know how to skip waves in time, otherwise it's pretty useful, maybe you could use it on w13 and w15 in any mode but everywhere else it's pretty much useless lol, apart from range it's kinda useless so it goes in B tier napalm is a high D tier completely agree but my molotov is ranked in low C tier lol damage flag is easy S tier purely because wave 40 becomes a piece of cake in all special gamemodes lol range flag is high B tier good consumable to have for range decreasing in special modes, not so good in waves other than 40(apart from maybe w28 pw2 for accels to see basically whole map) but it's still a very good consumable cooldown flag is A tier same reason as damage flag but it's a bit worse, stacks with commander tho blizzard bomb is A tier agree to what was said in the vid lol nuke is A tier not S tier BECAUSE it's not rlly viable on bosses and it's rlly viable only in pw2 and bl2, and only on wave 36(huge timesaves) or wave 40(killing guardians/cavalries), not so useful imo

Just a reminder ,The nuke fog have a special trait which can deal 5% damage in non bosses at 0.5 rate

4:42 Hey the cooldown flag also stacks with commander so if your commander is level 5 and you have the cooldown flag it will give a 45% fire rate buff and if you use the COA ability it will rise up to 75% fire rate buff!

Molotov melting 15% defense of enemies that has 30% defense. That's all because defense melting always does half. More powerfull melting just makes it faster. So it will melt more or less defense depends on enemy. 20%>10% 30%>15% 50%>25% 80%>40% Molotov will be so much useful againist Fallen Guards, if you have no troops like Pyro or Trapper.

One thing about the firerate flag tho, it could be better then the damage considering commander gives 55% firerate unlike merc 20% damage 20+55=75 20+40=60

I’d put the cooldown flag at S tier. It has good range and it can also stack with commander firerate buff so if you combine it with damage flag you can pretty much kill things way easier with them combined.

for the firerate flag, it isn't a flat 20%, as seen in the commander wiki page. It includes some more weird stuff and ends up being more of like a 15% boost. other reason why damage is better

I think most of these updates for tds and tdx are just them inspiring each other and having similar ideas is good but also a bit competitive
