I've spent the last 15 years of my life caring about what new characters may or may not be added to Super Smash Bros. It's finally done. So I took it upon myself to rank every single character reveal on a Tier List so the masses can finally get the right opinion. Not only is this a Tier List, but this is also a crash course in Smash Bros. Character Speculation History itself. I've been in the trenches.

I'm gonna keep it a buck and tell you how it is in this word soup. I'm really happy with this video and my tier list, it feels like I'm presenting my child to the world. This Super Smash Bros. Character Tier List features reveals from Super Smash Bros. Melee for Nintendo Gamecube and Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Nintendo Wii. I also dive into when the character/roster reveals got a little more exciting come Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, speaking of which, did you know Masahiro Sakurai (creator of Kirby and Super Smash Bros.) actually considers them to be Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Smash Bros. 5 respectively? That guy is so awesome. This video also features an interview with Masahiro Sakurai, and showcasing some of my favorite Etika reactions and moments. Some of the characters I give a hot take on include Minecraft Steve, Sonic, Byleth, Sora, Bayonetta, and Pyra. I'm not a boomer so I'm not going to include Banjo & Kazooie.

Xenoblade chronicles 2 The Actual Game : about survivors guilt, leaving behind a legacy, moving forward through trauma and building a better future. The Games Reputation: that one game where a guy builds a sex robot and the main character has big knockers. 10/10 best game on the switch.

I think Joker was good at representing the Persona series and Shin Megami Tensei as a whole by being a part of its biggest spinoff franchise and the biggest game in that franchise. Hero was definitely implemented better with the alt skins representing the most iconic games in the series though.

I feel like Joker was a good pick in terms of the wow factor (and he was the best choice from the series) but I was a bit disappointed to see that his inclusion only represented P5. I'm a huge SMT/Persona fan but I feel like Joker only represented the dungeon-crawling aspect of just P5 which was a little underwhelming. Would've been sick to see him use the wild card mechanic and other stuff from the series more. 3rd parties are supposed to evoke the feeling of playing said game in smash and I think they sorta dropped the ball with him.

SMT is a dope af series with a ton of history in Japan like DQ so I think it’s totally appropriate to include Joker as an icon (even if he doesn’t have the longtime history like some others). Genuinely the only bad pick in FP1 is Byleth as the rest are great and “worthy” by the arbitrary standards of being “iconic” and relevant to gaming history

I agree. I think it would have been better if they did Joker like they did Olimar and Robin/Corrin. Where the different skins and stuff were just Minato, Minako, Yu Narukami, and Joker etc. That would have been pretty cool.

I honestly agree with most of these except like Sora, since I don't care for KH, and Joker. When Joker was announced I hadn't played P5 so I was like "Oh ok" but I'll give the trailer props for actually being really stylistic and cool looking! And then after playing P5, Royal and the spin offs, I think he's a solid pick especially why how big Persona 5 became around the time plus even his victory and effects were super cool looking

Even if you love Byleth as a character, everyone can agree the trailer was awful. It was so long and boring, they spoiled who it was 3 seconds in and it was just an awful trailer. If they made it a cool trailer then sure, but Byleth easily has the worst trailer.

I'm not a weeb guy but joker should be higher if not solely for the quality of his trailer, the animations amazing and it really shows how stylish persona 5 is, definitely at least deserved above the sizable gap the rest of the list is great and I have no gripes with it (except maybe hero but your reasoning makes sense)

As a fire emblem fan I am of course happy that byleth is in, but I can definitely agree that it was a horrible pick. But I think the main reason is because they pumped the shit out of awakening for characters, they should have only added chrom and then no corrin. And they also added byleth at a horrible time, since for a while people thought they would be the last character in the game.

In Byleth's defense, they did announce Fighter's Pass 2 during Terry's reveal, so it was clear going into Byleth's reveal that there'd be more characters to come afterward.

It’s been years since he died and I doubt connors intentions are to do it for clicks. Of course his death is still sad but Connor used etika’s reactions on stream and in this video for part of the tier list since they are funny.

Mojang and Microsoft kept trying to push Alex to the forefront as the face of Minecraft and kept trying to subtly sideline Steve as just the alt in recent years (Village and Pillage official artwork is a good example of this, no Steve anywhere), when literally no one gives a freaking crap about Alex in comparison to Steve LOL. Glad Sakurai didn't do that and gave Steve the presence and attention he deserves.

Oh man I remember watching the Sora trailer, but being kinda disappointed. This was because after Steve was added I was trying really hard to think about who my most wanted next character would be, my friends would always ask me and it wasn't until the Sora trailer started that I realized. My most wanted character is Tabuu, it would've been perfect everyone was an assist trophy just standing there, there was the Smash Logo in the sky, god it could've been so hype. Also Ultimate's running theme was adding antagonists and Tabuu is such a standout from Smash, besides Master Hand, who they kind of added by putting at the end of World of Light. But man having the last DLC be Tabuu would have been amazing imo.

There's more to persona games than just Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal. .-. I also didn't say that persona wasn't anime like. However, that is consistent with the rest of the persona series. Persona 1-5 have been anime like, and that's consistent with the series. The problem with XC2 is that the anime stuff is not consistent with the rest of the series, XC is not as anime trope heavy and neither is X. Neither XC1 or XCX are oversexualized to the extent that XC2 is. Stop putting words in my mouth just because I disagreed with something Connor said. You can still like and enjoy someone's content and disagree with them on certain topics.

while I do think Hero deserves to be higher because they're the OG "Anime Swordfighter" as well as much more than that I do appreciate Connor recognising that Smash isn't just a game for Americans and that in Japan Dragon Quest has such a massive influence on a lot of the content they create and without it a lot of games today wouldn't exist. Not to mention that Hero has one of the most insane fucking movesets in the game. A- is still great tho and overall the list was pretty solid

Naw Sonic is WAY TOO OP for smash. It’s not fair no one can compare. Bayo is canonically weaker than Sonic so if you thinks she’s the strongest than you have to admit Sonic is stronger

I 1,000% disagree with the Joker placement. Even as I had never played Persona I recognized it as a fantastic and iconic series. P5 had also that same weekend just won Game of the Year, so it was quite appropriate. I lost my mind when I saw that Joker trailer, then went and bought a Playstation 4 with P5 so I could play it. I think Joker should at least be A, but I'd go A+. Other than that, this is actually a solid, reasonable list. Good shit Connor these lists are hard to please everyone with.

You almost think the same as me, I kind of value those that truly deserve to be in the game, but I hate how overpowered action and jrpg characters came in and become broken bullshit except Hero who was actually a good pick and ironically Sephiroth because you think he WOULD be the one broken, I'd want Scout, Bomberman, and Arthur (GnG) over some of those op bulls*** characters we got instead and the competitive community pretty much made me eat s*** because Little Mac and Banjo, one of the 2 of many I so badly wanted ended up horribly made and they abused the fact that I can't prove them wrong by beating them while they tell me, a person playing games for 25+ years that I'm horrible at video games and continue to insult and ratio me. (I hope esports gets torn down now, but I'm glad you got most of the picks right, even if Steve and Kazuya can also be unfun to fight (especially Steve))

I think both joker and terry have a good reason to be there. Joker sent the message of "expect the unexpected" the dlc was going for, and king of fighters was what pushed sakurai to make a more accessible fighting game for everyone to enjoy. I don't think they are perfect picks either, and I don't think the philosophy of every character needing to be important to gaming is necessarily true, but being important to smash is synonym to being important to gaming, so I'd say both are good picks
