Papo is such an interesting company. I remember their figures being hot shit back in the day, usually featured on channels like Jurassic Collectables. Some of their early figures were some of the best of their time. Especially if you were a JP fan. But in recent years they’ve kinda fallen off. The style of their figures has sort of… flanderized itself? Now they regularly get mogges by companies like PNSO, even safari and collecta.
Disagree. The older papo figures have charm, but the newer ones are better for the most part. They have a unique style to them, usually their pose. Look at the new papo suchomimus. That one rivals PNSOs sucho for a lower price. The difference here is that we have more companies to choose from now, while back in the day we didn't. I'd honestly say Papo is one of the better aging companies, especially compared to Schleich, Safari and Collecta seems to be in the same niche.
Quetzal is one of their best and underrated af. Problem is most of their color schemes are bland as opposed to going far out. Case in point with not having Quetzal or Spino with the JP colors. It's original T.rex I believe is the reason why so many hyper detailed and realistic statue/ toy lines exist all because of that one highly influential figure. Allosaurus later on. It's pose be the basis for their Giganoto to parallel with it like some homage.
2:20 I have 24. actually. The figure was originally released all the way back in 2011-2012, yet the brown colored version was intended to be replaced by the green and purple variants, making it extremely expensive to purchase online for a while. That was until Papo decided to restock this version again only around a few years ago with the green variant, while ending sales of the purple one instead. If RU-vid would allow me to post links, I could show you a photo of mine from Twitter.
My favorite by far is the green Allosaurus, the posture is just the best, colour is also great, everything is just perfect on that one. The T-Rex is just a bit too skinny for my taste and the face a bit off - still very nice figure, but doesn ´t beat the Allo. All figures look better with a somewhat closed mouth by the way, no need for combat all the time.
