Fun fact about the Sonic Unleashed Boxart: it was supposed to have a lenticular cover that showed the Hedgehog or the Werehog depending on the angle you looked

I really love how the Japanese Boxart of the classic game had that colorful and exaggerated art. I’m glad Mania kept with that style with its artstyle. Also the Yin and Yang look of SA2 and SU’s boxart is peak

Underrated but I love the Japanese Boxart of Chaotix, it actually shows all the characters in the game, the funny thing American boxart is that it says “Knuckles’ Chaotix” as in Knuckles owning the Chaotix or him being in charge of it while it’s just simply called “Chaotix” in Japan.

Sonic Boxart has always been an eyecatcher whether it be from clunkyness like Rivals 2 or just pure clean like Frontiers, they really know how to grab your attention with the box art however Ill always be fond of the Sonic & Knuckles art, that logo is so raw I need it as a shirt.

One things I just think we really need is new styles for box arts. All we get is the same stock 3d renders, I get consistency is important but with how long we’ve been using this render we need something new, also sonic battle is pretty peak box art.

Frontiers US box art gets a yay for me solely on the fact that it didn't feel the need to have Sonic standing on a cliff overlooking the scenery, as so many open world type games feel the need to. The box art sells you on the fun you'll be having, not just the world that supports it.

One of my favorites is the Frontiers Japanese box art. I like the American one just fine but the Japanese one fits more tonally and better tells me what the game is. If you asked me what I thought the game was by the American boxart, I’d say just a new Sonic adventure. If you showed me the Japanese one I’d say it’s a more mysterious open game that takes itself a bit more seriously and that’s exactly what the game is.

3:30 Hate take, I fucking hate Sonic 06 model and Box art. I remember vividly not buying 06, mind you I was 6 without any knowledge of the internet or gaming news, I didn't know 06 was glitchy and bad, and I was a Sonic Fanatic. I didn't get 06, for the Box art and model alone. Now people on twitter are switching up and saying it's the best model in the series. And then people hating on the new unleashed/generations model on twitter and I lost my mind, because little 10 year old me thought, this was the best Sonic ever looked, especially the Marza/Unleashed Model. It incredible. I still it looks the best when given proper lighting and texturing like in the new Sonic X Angry bird(Ayo) ad.

@@My_men97 Now to give it credit, I do like the P-06 model(Fan remaster of 06) I like the more vibrant color, texturing, posing, and the tweeks it got. But the OG original 06 render was the sole reason I didn't buy 06. I didn't have internet access or any news about Sonic 06's reputation. I just wanted to buy a new Sonic game, but when I went to GameStop, and I saw the model change on the box art just didn't look right. For the first time, I didn't want to buy a Sonic game. I bought Kingdom hearts instead(And I loved it) For context, I played SADX, SA2B, SH, and SH05. Now the box art for Shadow 05 was what 5 year old me thought these character should like(I was the first HD renders a Sonic character) Up until then, we only had Polygon models or 2d artwork. I didn't experience 06 until 3 years ago in 2021 where I played P-06, the most definitive way to play the game. I thought the game was alright, and I liked it. I never saw it as a top 10 Sonic game, but it was enjoyable experience. But to this day, I can't seem to give in to the twitter bandwagon and say I like the 06 model.

The Sonic Forces boxart is fine right up until you play the full game. Tails and Knuckles aren’t even playable nor unique to the story so their inclusion feels unnecessary, and Metal Sonic also feels thrown in there for no reason since you only fight him for like, a minute or two in the game. It would’ve made more sense to just have the three playable characters on the bottom and then Eggman and Infinite on the villain half.
