@@Saints-ji3vj Definitely R.I.P. although I personally wouldn't put him in my top 10 return men list. But I respect your opinion. He definitely was a beast.
@@takemeasicam4 in a row hurts but we're also 0-4. I'll give you circumstance for the slight edge but we're almost even. And as for the other dude who said we're a terrible franchise, that just isn't true. They're wildly popular in the region including surrounding states, have great nutritionists and medical team, and the players almost all love to play for them. They don't win, I'll give you that, but they're likeable to those in the area so I can't say they're a bad franchise
The thing about Sterling Sharpe is that he was putting up insane numbers BEFORE Brett Favre's 3 MVP streak which literally happened the year after his injury I want to say. Imagine his numbers along side Prime Favre.
Yup. Favre's MVP streak started the season AFTER Sterling retired. Sterling should be in the Hall of Fame, idc about longevity or any of that other nonsense. His peak was as good as anybody's. The only WR in that late 80s-mid 90s time frame I would put for sure above him is Jerry Rice. That's it.
Mannn.. I want to argue but we deserve that last spot sadly. I just want them to stop drafting them and just sign older free agents. I’ll take a past their prime Mason, Smith or Boldin over more Batemans lol
As a ravens fan I hate to admit that we do deserve the last spot but I’m sure we will eventually make up for it, R.I.P Jacoby Jones you will always be remembered as an amazing ravens player
I have fallen out of love with football as I’ve gotten older but anytime a video like this drops I’m soaking in every bit of info with my eyes glued to the screen like I’m a kid again. Also the GOAT narrator

@@Tdog290 I wish it has translated more when it has come to Super Bowls. Only 2... With the talent this team has had just in my lifetime(since 87.) Not even counting in my dad's lifetime? Sadly they've struggled to put it together up and down the roster at the same time. When the offense is dominating, the defense struggles. When the defense is dominating, the offense struggles, so on and so forth. As for WRs specifically: Mark my words, Kupp and Puka(If they can stay healthy) is gonna be a better tandem than Holt and Bruce was.
Gotta appreciate that my whole life I played WR/DB and as a Vikings fan as soon as I saw this I went “we gotta be number one if not top 3” and I couldn’t be more proud of that statement holding true…now let’s see if we can transfer it to some of our QB and OL play 😂 then we’ll be where we need to be FINALLY…0-4 in super bowls is so tragic man…but Bills fans feel me haha
@@takemeasicam at least we can have someone to relate to, though I can admit yours is a lot more painful, seeing as it was basically the same crazy stacked team that just had a problem with coach choosing what felt like ‘The right QB at the right time’ because both were good, but caught fire and then coach would bench?? Like what?? And the. The field goal….most of the Vikings have been straight up blowouts where we scored MAYBE once and even though our super bowls were in the purple people eaters era, THEY GOT TRAMPLED in the big game…it’s heartbreaking, but not as badly as having the game right in hand and it just slips away I think…
@@beesutton1717 ya vikings never scored a point in the first half of their super bowl games. Bills lost by a point because of a missed 47 yard field goal: doesn’t get closer than that…

Y’all should’ve been no bullshit…I mean the fact that yall have had a century to get a good WR and haven’t is way more ridiculous than CAR and JAX who have been around for 30 years lol
Y'all have had the occasional standout WR, Ravens can't get shit going at that position at all. I say this as a Ravens fan. Please Zay Flowers, prove me wrong lol
I agree. Through 1983 when Jackson retired, he retired second in receiving yardage, and still top ten in receiving touchdowns and receptions, and in 1981 and 82 was top ten in yards from scrimmage when running backs are included. He didn’t have the playoff career of some other receivers who have made it to Canton from the 70’s, but he also arguably never played with a prime Hall of Fame quarterback unlike most of the Hall of Fame receivers from the 70’s (he played with Joe Namath but in Namath’s final season, and he played with John Hadl who some say may belong, but he got pretty much the last year of Hadl’s prime). Say what you want about advanced analytics, but recently Football Outsiders released their play by play based DVOA stat for skill position players for the 1979 and 1980 seasons. Their stat found Jackson to be the best receiver in the NFL in 1979, and still eighth best in 1980, and their stat for quarterbacks found his quarterback Steve Grogan to not be a top ten passer at the time. At that point we are in his 11th and 12th seasons as a starter, and two and three years removed from the last accolades he received, and if so, then he must’ve had good longevity.
I met Gene Washington in 2019 during the NCAAM Final Four in Minneapolis. He was a Michigan St. alum so he was there at the pep ranny, super nice guy and had a great conversation with him about his time in the league
There was a kid in my high-school football team who ran like Elroy Hirsch. He played wide out also. Everyone made fun of the way he ran. Wished I knew about Hirsch else I would have told him about it and hopefully inspire confidence in him to not listen to the haters. I bet if everyone knew that a hall of famer ran like that also they wouldn't have picked on him.
@@javon21596 I am a Dolphins fan, and I saw a lot of Panthers games during his time there. Outside of a three game burst late in the season, he was mid the whole year. And as soon as Kelvin Benjamin was healthy, he was back to being a third stringer.
I am too. But I'm more confused why Devonta Smith didn't get a mention. I mean he is already more accomplished than some of the players mentioned. And he's clearly one of the best in the league currently
Same. I for sure thought top 20 was optimistic. Definitely got hard carried by an early era. Though five years from now as AJ and Smitty play through their careers I think we'd be higher. Crazy to think we got our version of Swann/Stallworth, Harrison/Wayne, etc
@@islandmonkey5888 who else is there to mention outside of their current WRs on this list? Jake Reed? John Taylor (underrated)? Niners had Randy for a season too, lol.. Matter of fact, he alligator armed a pass over the middle in the SB vs BAL.. And of their current WR's, ill take Ayiuk n Deebo over JJ and whoever else they lineup with him lol (although Ayiuk might be gone here soon) Niners had RC Owens as well (the first guy to Moss people, lol).
@@thetruth-gy2lcRice, TO, Moss, Deebo, Ayuik, Emmanuel Sanders, John Taylor, Dwight Clark, Anquan Boldin, Michael Crabtree, Gene Washington, Dave Parks. Niners got it bro. Stop lying.
I honestly thought we'd be ahead of the Vikings. Yes the Vikings had Carter, Moss, & Reed when we had Bruce, Holt, Hakim, & Proehl. But I thought the GSOT was deeper plus we beat those Vikings teams 3 times between 1999-2003 putting up 40 points every time & once was a playoff game. I'll give the Vikings the nod for stats but we had a ring & made another Super Bowl
@@EricStuder89the GSOT have the ring, but the Vikings potentially will have 3 receivers that can be ranked in the top 10 all time in Moss, Cris Carter, and Justin Jefferson.
I remember that OT TD catch by Webster Slaughter. It was my 15th birthday. We were watching from my grandparents' house. Right after the Browns won, we went bowling for my birthday. What a great day! 😎
I am seriously impressed with this list. Every time a team was mentioned and 4-5 guys popped in my head they all got mentioned, then i got a history lesson for most teams. I also wondered how youd manage guys like brandon marshall or TO that had multiple great seasons with multiple teams and they got mentioned for both. I genuinely only thought of one or two omissions total but even those are iffy. Well done, fantastic video
Especially recently, but after Swann and Stallworth, there was something of a drought until Hines, except for Lipps, so I can see not being the top. The biggest thing against Pittsburgh is that their first 35-40 years were bad, even though the last 50 have been great.
@@BrendanGeormerYep. Aside from one team that played a playoff tiebreaker in 1947, and another 9-5 team in 1962, the Steelers were pretty terrible for their first 38 years. But because it was almost all pre-Super Bowl it’s mostly forgotten about. Much like how well the early Browns and Bears teams were, and the championship teams of the Cardinals, Lions, Chargers, Bills, and Titans as the Oilers pre-Super Bowl.
@@BrendanGeormer I think Lynn Swann is overrated. Was he better than his contemporaries like Stallworth, Harold Carmichael, Harold Jackson or Cliff Branch? I believe that Swann only made the Hall because of his 4 rings. Swann has a bust in Canton, but LC Greenwood doesn't? That's BS.
Man, as an Eagles fan, as much as I knew how good these guys were, I'm still a little surprised we ranked so high. That said, where the hell were all these great WRs when Donovan was playing!?
Lions not being in the top 10 is criminal lol. I'd agree with the ranking you gave them had Megatron never been born. But since he was, and since he is arguably the greatest pure talent to ever catch a football... I'd say top 10 is a must.
Calvin is the first wide receiver I've heard to have "catching hands like Spiderman" when coming out of college and then transitioning seamlessly to the NFL level to prove that comparison was correct. He was a cheat code and changed the entire outlook on the game, just like Jim Brown did as an RB. 🤷
As a Rams fan i honestly thought the 49ers would be #1 but that we'd be ahead of the Vikings. Yes the Vikings had Carter, Moss, & Reed when we had Bruce, Holt, Hakim, & Proehl (& Tony Horne on special teams but still a WR). I thought the GSOT was deeper plus we beat those Vikings teams 3 times between 1999-2003 putting up 40+ points every time & once was a playoff game (& then again in 2006). I'll give the Vikings the nod for stats but we had a ring & made another Super Bowl
Nah, the Vikings were DEEP with great receivers, going all the way back to Ahmad Rashad. They have three HOFers for sure - Moss, Carter, and Jefferson is almost certainly going to be there. Then you can add Anthony Carter, Percy Harvin, Stefon Diggs, Jake Reed, as other very good players.
Best receiver for every team's history: Steelers: Hines Ward Ravens: Derrick Mason Bengals: Chad Johnson Browns: Paul Warfield Bills: Andre Reed Dolphins: Mark Clayton Patriots: Julian Edelman Jets: Don Maynard Colts: Marvin Harrison Titans: Ernest Givins Jaguars: Jimmy Smith Texans: Andre Johnson Chiefs: Tyreek Hill Chargers: Charlie Joiner Broncos: Rod Smith Raiders: Tim Brown Packers: Don Hutson Lions: Calvin Johnson Vikings: Randy Moss Bears: Johnny Morris Cowboys: Michael Irvin Eagles: Harold Carmichael Commanders: Art Monk Giants: Amani Toomer Buccaneers: Mike Evans Saints: Marques Colston Panthers: Steve Smith Sr. Falcons: Julio Jones Seahawks: Steve Largent Cardinals: Larry Fitzgerald Rams: Issac Bruce 49ers: Jerry Rice
I think if they let in branch, then he should get another look. Just have to be careful how many with only 500 receptions you let in. It was good in the 70s, but it changed by the 90s
How are Bengals not AT LEAST top 10? They have had consistently elite WRs going back to the 70s. Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, AJ Green, Ochocinco, Terrell Owens, Carl Pickens, Cris Collinsworth, Isaac Curtis. And these are just the best of the best. I didn't even mention guys like Tyler Boyd, TJ Houshmandzadeh, and Mohammed Sanu. You seriously mean to tell me that there are 13 teams that can do better than that? I don't think so.
@@XxJERICHOHOLICxX13 He produced 6.17% of his career receiving yards and 5.88% of his career receiving TDs in Cinci. The Bengals don't get credit for the other 94% of his career 😂
@@smudgeous4068 congrats, you can use a calculator. No one team can take credit for his whole career. The video is rating teams by their WR history and Owens is part of the Bengals. Do you expect me to leave him out? And what even is your point? Okay, take out Owens, bengals are still top 10 at minimum.
@@XxJERICHOHOLICxX13 I would expect the argument to be made for production made by WRs when playing for the team, which TO did not contribute anywhere near as much as the other guys I mentioned. TO had a good season in 2010 for a 37-year-old but he wasn't close to the same player that earned a HoF nod. A single season's performance is almost impossible to crack the list as well, unless it came with a record breaking season or an iconic catch to win a Super Bowl.
The bengals are certainly at minimum top 10. They went ocho, aj, and jamarr 3 rebuilds ina row. You add the secondary wrs they had in tj housh, tyler boyd, and tee higgins they have always had a top core in the league. Cmon nfl
I have the bengals at 10 behind raiders and so forth. The last 30 years their wr cores have been way better then the chargers browns dolphins n washington.
Dam back to back 1,000 yard seasons and not even a mention for Devonta smith too don’t forget about him .. franchise record in receptions and receiving yards is hall of very good??? What’s hall of fame?!?
Should have mentioned that Lionel Taylor of the Broncos was the first WR with 100 catches in a season. Could have given a shout out to Bob Chandler for the Bills.
Texans being as high as they are after only being around for 20 years is pretty nice. Their top 2 puts in a lot of work. Hopefully someone on our current roster like Nico Collins can reach that peak, too
When my man Largent retired he held every possible record for a receiver until the great Jerry Rice came along. That would be receiving yards, most receptions, and touchdowns. He was also the first receiver to ever accumulate 100 touchdowns. That was starting with an expansion team in its first season tucked away in the PNW.
For the Packers, I’m actually very surprised that James Jones wasn’t mentioned among the receivers from the Rodgers era. Sure Donald Driver & Jordy Nelson are on there, but James Jones was himself a very good player on that team, and he in a way helped save the 2015 season after Jordy went down with that ACL tear in the preseason.
This list is so fun! So not to hate, just my take! Or maybe I should just say I’m curious how they came up with the rules for ranking! Because it seems weird to me having teams like the Jets above a team like the Titans. Tennessee had SIX players with at least 6,000 career yards. That’s more than almost every other team I checked up to the Jets spot. That’s even more than the pats, although the Pats did have more 5k. Idk I was just checking myself at first saying “well you were just too young to know most of the top Jets guys probably “ but the same is true about almost all the best titans guys too, for me at least, but they definitely seem to top the Jets guys. But I suppose it isn’t just about all time yardage and TD leaders, it’s also maybe about having guys like Marshall and Johnson having a couple of 1k seasons with the team, etc. I guess when it comes to modern era thar I’ve witnessed, the titans reallt don’t have much other than AJ, and Mason, and a few others. Idk I just love debating this whole list! It’s great!
Bengals at 14 is crazy . Pickens ( who a whole role was made to slow down ) , Collins worth, ochocinco, TJ, warrick, Henry Owens , coles , green, lafell , sanu, Jones, Boyd, Higgins , chase. To name a few
Cris Carter and Randy Moss were the duo who love being pass-catchers during their time with the Vikings. Mark Clayton and Mark Duper were also a great duo with the Dolphins. Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens were the best wideouts in 49ers history. Julian Edelman, Deion Branch and Wes Welker were Tom Brady’s favorite targets during their time with the Patriots. Michael Thomas, Joe Horn and Marques Colston were the best wideouts in Saints history. Rod Smith and Ed McCaffrey also were the best duo in Broncos history. Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne were definitely the greatest duo in Colts history by being Peyton Manning’s favorite targets. Lynn Swann and John Stallworth were that duo for the Steelers during their time when the team was a dynasty. There are too many to name…🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
I’ve never watched the nfl before but I was able to perfectly understand what I was being told on the first watch I feel like that’s rare with sports channels now
"(Steve Smith) is probably the best player to ever suit up for the franchise." It's him or Julius Peppers, imo - though I could also see an argument for Luke Kuechly.
