To me it’s the best X-men movie so far. Apocalypse was really a rushed movie. They should’ve made a built up for a apocalypse just like avengers did with thanos.
Some of the pacing takes away. Like the prof x needles and beast being the only one living there in dofp. But its probably the best XMEN film next to x2
Logan then DOFP then X 2, then First Class then X Men. Those are the only good ones IMO. Last Stand, Origins and The Wolverine, Apocalypse and especially Dark Phoenix are the mediocre to awful ones
I think Origins is lowkey overhated. I remember loving it as a kid and when I found out everyone hated it as an adult I thought I must've just been wrong as a kid but upon rewatch.. its genuinely so entertaining
I loved that shit so much as a kid that when I was a teenager and booted up gta online and went clothes shopping I saw a leather jacket that looked like the one he had in the movie and to me it was badass
I think a majority of the hate comes from it's deviation from the source material, mishandling of deadpool (a fan favourite character) and the terrible CGI at points. And to me it just kind of felt...sterile? The way wolverine remembered it in X-Men 2 it was bloody and grungy and traumatic. But they seemed to scale it down to make it kid friendly or something. I remember when it was in development and it was rumoured to be an actual 18 rated movie, but they dropped it to PG to appeal to a wider audience (kids) and I think it suffered for it.
@@Zihark_Bruh X2 sank like a rock after the opening sequence. The 3rd act was AWFUL. Ppl cry about X3 "misusing" Cyclops, but they completely forget that he's barely even in X2 AT ALL.
It does get love. I hear a lot of people say that's their favorite outside of Logan. It's my personal favorite then Logan, First Class, X2, X1, The Wolverine, and last X3. I know there's more but these are tolerable movies I'll list.
Look I enjoyed that movie back in the day and there's still dumb fun to be had with it, and as always Hugh Jackman is perfect as Logan... but there's DEFINITELY a bunch of reasons to hate on that movie lmao
its bad. deadpool was ruined. they retconned x 2. gambit was used too soon and cyclops shouldn't have been put in a situation that was never mentioned when he was in X 1
Agreed, huge fan of the x movies and comics both but it's a great movie and story if you ignore the butt hurt comic fans complaining about accuracy (guys just read the comics then) and the Deadpool fans that won't get over a weird adaptation of the character (it was all fixed in his solo movies anyway and it's not about Deadpool anyway) as a story about this particular version of wolverine its better than you remember
I mean, I understand people not liking the movie. It has a lot of flaws. What I don't understand is people who like the other x-men movies and hate this one. They're almost all garbage, but they choose to hate this one? I don't get it. Origins is honestly better than a good chunk of them. They're enjoyable bad movies with a charm to them that some could enjoy. If you can enjoy them that way, how does that change for origins? It confuses me sometimes.
Man, I don't know, I love Origins: Wolverine. The action, all the battles, the way it tries so hard to take itself so seriously but beign equally cheesy and over the top, all of the family issues, the romance with Kayla. It's a really bad movie but I love it so much.
It’s a guilty pleasure film for sure. It’s not good and only dark Phoenix is worse but between the two I’d agree that it is consistently entertaining just poorly written.
@@slycat128 you might want to rewatch bro. I thought for years dofp and x2 were the best but after watching first class quite a bit of times I think First Class is the best.
@@sharabesh6512 I wouldn't count Logan as an actual X-Men movie it's definitely an X-Men character movie but it doesn't involve any team or anything just Logan Laura and Charles
If Dark Phoenix was 2 movies like it was originally planned before disney bought them then ye it would be good, but rushing everything in 1 movie made it terrible and changing the ending only bc ms marvel went to space
Never watched Dark Phoenix, Logan has too perfect of an ending for me to put a bad taste in my mouth for that, but Apocalypse is definitely NOT underrated. Apocalypse himself was a piss-poor villain. All he did throughout the movie was wreak havoc and call everyone his children. His motivations are his false beliefs of being a God, and of the mutants being a superior species. Basically Hitler, or Magneto but much worse. It did have some real standout moments like Quicksilver saving everyone (loved that scene), Charles standing up to Apocalypse (decent), and that's about. As a product, it was inoffensive, in other words, mid. That's probably how it's typically rated.
@@amoh2513 bruh, Dark Phoenix doesn't even have Logan in it, plus it's a prequel. Apocalypse is a good movie it's just obviously not the kind of villain that you like, even though it's not a bad villain
@@TD-ht8dzWhen I said, "Never watched Dark Phoenix, Logan has too perfect of an ending for me to put a bad taste in my mouth for that", I meant it. Logan was the perfect ending of the X-Men franchise for me. I don't wanna ruin that experience by ending off with a movie that is most likely written like doo doo. The fact that it's events occur before Logan, or that Wolverine doesn't appear in it simply doesn't matter. And look bud, I spent about 2 paragraphs explaining why I think X-Men: Apocalypse is not over hated, and all you had to say was "Apocalypse was a fine villain, not for you". That's not an argument bro. I'm not expecting you to write something as long as I did, but if you're going through the trouble of responding, at least do it well.
My Version X-Men - Alright X2: X-Men United - THE GOAT X-Men The Last Stand - WOOOOOO X-Men Origins: Wolverine - It Was Perfect X First Class - THE GOAT The Wolverine - WOOOOOO X-Men Days Of Future Past - The GOAT Deadpool - THE GOAT X-Men Apocalypse - It’s Alright Logan - THE GOAT Deadpool 2 - THE GOAT Dark Phoenix - Duh Bruh The New Mutants - The Biggest Piece Of Dog Shit
I think Dark Phoenix was a way more fleshed out version of Jean’s story than last stand. But really neither movies did her origin story that well. Which is sad :/
Here's my ranking for these X-Men movies: 1.X-Men-9.5/10-A 2.X-Men 2-9.49/10-A 3.X-Men 3-5.89/10-D- 4.X-Men Origins Wolverine-3/10-E 5.Wolverine-7.7/10-C 6.Logan-8/10-B 7.X-Men First Class-9.9/10-A 8.X-Men Days of Future Past-10/10-A 9.X-Men Apocalypse-11/10-A+ 10.X-Men Dark Phoenix-2.5/10-E Out of this list, I am probably more fonder on X-Men Apocalypse than any other film here. The X-Men movies were very, very, very, very, very, very phenomenal from X1 to X2 until X3 screwed up the Fox Universe for these mutants in case and favor of Bryan Singer to Superman Returns. It was said to originally get Cyclops sacrificing Phoenix into being the Phoenix Force by Bryan's script, but given to Fox's pesky jealousy on Singer, Wolverine stabs Phoenox of her life force at the end. I prefer the mutants in their leather suits as seen as in the comics with their personalities suit as best as possible more clearly than them being shadowed for Woverine in dark clothes or display of darkness around the world in them.
I honestly enjoyed the character a bit. If the character wasn’t DP I think people would’ve enjoyed him a lot more. I can personally enjoy the character more now that Ryan Reynolds has three DP movies that are faithful to the comic DP.
I agree with your rating for all of these except Origins. I personally love the movie! Sure there's a lot wrong with it at times, but you can say that about all the X-men films especially the OG triligoy.
@@armaggon5920because it is? Has bad writing and not the best directing either. It's literally made by the same people that made the last season of game of thrones, the literally worst season. The movie also didn't have the best acting imo too. The movie is just straight not good and honestly as bad as Last Stand.
@kaneclerk6530 I never watched Game of Thrones. And I just don't see it. The movie was still really, really deep. Showing how truly sad and messed up Wolverine's life was. And it had great acting, Liev Schreiber totally remade a whole new fantastic version of Sabretooth. The lady who played Silver Collins did. A great job, the writing for her was mid, though. I'd say it was mostly good except for when she tells Wolverine the story about the moon. Hugh Jackman (or Huge Actman as I sometimes call him) is always great as Wolverine. He really exhibits the mental and physical struggles that the character goes through in the movie. We finally got to see Gambit, granted he wasn't a great adaption, though. And I'll give it to you. Cyclops had no place in that movie. And Deadpool, we shouldn't even talk about. And I don't know why they changed William Stryker so much. But no movie is perfect. The movie was there to tell Wolverine's origin story. Which it did and did pretty well. The writing wasn't great, but it was definitely above average. In my opinion, the best writing of the movie, other than sabretooth, was Stryker's plan to get Wolverine back for leaving his team of mutants. And finally, the action sequences. The first fight really shows how Sabretooth had the edge because of how Wolverine was driven by anger and how Sabretooth was just presented as careless and emotionless even though he was fighting his own half brother Later on, the movie Sabretooth is driven by the fact that he wasn't able to beat Wolverine in the alley fight, and when Stryker tells him to when it comes to him gets the Adamantium, he gets angry because he wants to prove he's better than Wolverine so badly. The final fight was pretty good. The only bad part was Deadpool. But the actions and effects were still really good 👍. The final part of the movie, instead of giving Logan a happy memory, we see the trauma of not being able to remember and where it all started. My point is that it's not the best Xmen movie (Days of the Future Past), but it for sure isn't the worst.
@@kaneclerk6530They also made the first 4 seasons of Game of Thrones which were great. This movie is not a masterpiece, but narrative-wise it's a lot more interesting than some of the other X-Men movies.
@@sinistralhydra They made 4 good seasons because they had sources from the book. When they had to make the last season they ruined lots of characters. Also it can't be better narrative wise, origins is as bad as last stan, dark phenix, and apocalypse.
1. Logan 2. Days of Future Past 3. First Class 4. X2 Btw X-Men Days of Future Past >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Avengers Infity War and Endgame; Better Story, more emotional, stronger character moments, way better look, etc.)
The X-men franchise was truly a roller coaster ride. You didn’t know if you were going to get the greatest super hero movie if the year our the worst, but we were there for it. It will be missed. Alas, the dark Phoenix was its undoing…twice.
Days of future past not getting the “It was perfect” is wild. Logan, Days of future past, and X2 all deserve that reaction. First class is knocking on the door to get in with the elite tier.
Yeah I agree I slept in theaters when I first saw X-Men apocalypse tbh but not with Origins I’m surprised they didn’t add “that’s how he’s a goat a goat!”
@@oneinsomebillions3264part of me thinks this but then Logan wouldn’t have happened. Maybe it could’ve ended at DOFP and Logan would be an alternate reality thing
All of these ratings could not have been said any better. Except for X2 and Logan I would’ve used “THATS WHY HES THE MVP THATS WHY HES THE GOAT, THE GOATTTTUHHH”
I agree with X Men Apocalypse, I'd argue the best part of that movie is One of 2 Scenes. Quicksilver saving them all while the Manor Explosed or when Jean truely lets go during the final battle, The atmosphere was just perfect. But that is also one of my favorite scenes to ever exist.
Origins W was good, but if there wasnt so lowkey deadpool, that would be perfect. Wolverine scene with getting adamantium was best scene of all x-men franchise
I really like The Wolverine as it is so comic book accurate and is just a really good superhero movie and I feel like “nice” isn’t doing it justice more like The Goat, Especially the extended cut.
DoFP should’ve gotten a perfect. As for Origins, besides fucking up Deadpool, the only bad thing is the CGI claws. And I’ve since forgiven the Deadpool thing, besides Ryan Reynolds eventually fixed it AND used it for comedic material in the first 2 DPs. I actually really enjoy origins.
Lots of people dont get the hate for XO:Wolverine because they "loved it as a kid" so let me put it in context for you. Because thats precisely why people dislike it. In pre production this movie was HEAVILY rumored to be the first mature rated movie in the franchise. And it had deadpool! And it had sabertooth! And it had Gambit! And it was covering his 1880 origin! (Which had only recently been published) So imagine peoples disappointment when the rating dropped to PG, the events contradicted X2, The 1880s origin was a ten minute intro, Gambit was reduced to a bit part. they butchered deadpool (after nailing the casting) and it didnt really add anything to Wolverines origin we didn't already know. Also the CGI sucked. And they shoehorned Will i am in for some bizarre reason. Now ill say it, i dont hate this movie. I liked this movie despite the flaws. But i absolutely get the hate. And im glad it inadvertently lead to where we are with deadpool.
Fox's X-Men movies, after MCU became a "Gold standard" were given bad rep, yet out of 13 movies, 8 are actually a good movies and 4 out of those are treated like masterpieces (X2, The Wolverine, Days of Future Past and Logan)
honestly first class shouldve had a direct sequel and dofp couldve been the movie to replace apocalypse and then apocalypse couldve replaced dark phoenix. then it wouldve been better. last stand couldve been like 2 parts linking dark phoenix and also introducing dofp sentinels
look idc what people say. Apocalypse was an extremely fun movie and for that, i think it’s great. not as good as First Class and DoFP, but i’d say it’s up there next to X-Men 1 & 2.
Only crap thing about first class is the villain being a bit forgettable AND Darwins death. Other than that I think it's my personal favorite. I like getting to see Charles before he becomes selfless and I like seeing him slowly learn that even though he's standing up for the people he believes he is like and shares their lives to a degree, he is still far more privileged than most mutants and even people for that matter. Days of future past does a great job expanding on that for Charles and is an amazing movie that perfectly ties what's great about both versions of the characters, but I didn't like Xavier taking a walking drug bc that's pretty dumb and obviously only exists as a plot device to nerf a powerful character, as Jean Grey is also not in the movie, so I know that's what it is. And the next thing I don't like about the movie is beast ALSO being able to return to normalcy as a regular looking and functioning hum like Charles. I understand it's in character and if that option existed for young beast, he'd take it. But the point of beast as a character at all is he is the most inhuman looking xman on the surface, which forced him to overcompensate in other fields like his intelligence of course but more importantly his much more relatable form of understanding mutants and using that in combination with his intelligent to both fight for mutants in a civilized way, but also does it to set a good name for other mutants like himself. He is my favorite xman and I like talking about him, while Charles uses his privilege to home the mutants and help them learn in a safe environment to prepare for the world at large. I like characters that are two opposites meeting like the beast being the brains or the catholic blind man being both a devil at night and a man of the law. Excellent characters from marvel.
