Ranking EVERY ZELDA by its Music

No way you put spirit tracks in low c tier. NO WAY. You just angered all 12 of us in the spirit tracks fandom!!

Ocarina of time is S tier IMO. I’m not even a OG Zelda fan who thinks that’s the best game ever. I just really love it’s soundtrack.

I think this tier list is quite like a tier list on graphical design and the most important criteria is pixel count. Basically, the rating is far too weighted towards more advanced sound chips.

Too much emphasis on instrumentation in my opinion. The compositions themselves shouldn't lose points because of the limitations of the hardware. ALttP and OOT are unquestionably S Tier for me. They establish so many incredible themes for the series and the compositions create so much of the charm and atmosphere of the game.

Wind Waker is in S tier for me. A lot of the motifs from the games after Wind Waker were inspired or even directly borrowed from Wind Waker. Especially in BotW with the Rito Village theme and TotK Colgera battle theme essentially being remixes of Dragon Roost Island theme and Molgera's theme.

How are you forgetting the total banger that is Molgera's battle theme in Wind Waker? 💀

Wind Waker being put below Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword is completely shocking. Molgera Theme is talked about as the best boss theme across all of the games. The 'Title Theme, 'The Legendary Hero', 'Arylls Rescue 4', MEDLII'S AWAKENING FOR GOD'S SAKES.

I personally think Twilight Princess deserves A tier. Notable songs include Ordon Village, Faron Woods, Midna's Lament, and Iza's Rapid Ride (seriously underrated!), just to name a few. Amazing video regardless!

Even Zelda II and the Oracle games have some bangers like the Great Palace, Dancing Dragon Dungeon, and the Black Tower.

RIP the oracle games, some of the tracks are bops especially both games dungeons 4 & 6 themes

Continuing to cry over hearing that not much music was remembered outside of dragon roost in WW while I rattle off multiple tunes from that game that live in my heart. Still an awesome video though, enjoyed the humour! I was also glad to see Link's Awakening Remastered getting the love it deserves

After having spent many hours listening through every Zelda OST to select songs to cover for my new album.... this was scarily relatable. Also, my ears are now extensively bleeding from big boy thomas making a guest appearance, so thank you.

Skyward Sword has an amazing soundtrack! Ballad of The Goddess, Skyloft, Groose's Theme, Faron Woods, Ghirahim's Theme, and this game's rendition of Zelda's Lullaby were amazing.

Oot not being S tier is criminal! The whole game is about music each and every area fits the themes ( Shadow temple, bottom of the well ) middle boss battle it all makes sense. 😅 Gerudo Valley need i say less?

What a banger video! Wind Waker in C tier is a crime though

You should've split Ages and Seasons, the latter has much better songs when it's not sharing any with Ages. There are some great tracks among those games too though, my personal favorites being: Tarm Ruins Room of Rites Dancing Dragon Dungeon Unicorn's Cave Moonlit Grotto The Black Tower and Secret Maze / Sea of No Return (which you did show)

Wind Waker should be S tier.

If I could give a little advice as a viewer, if you're going to make a tier list based on the soundtracks, it might not be a bad ideal to actually get versed on the games music prior. I was a little iffy after your comments on Majora's Mask, but as soon as you said you couldn't remember more than two Wind Waker tracks, I honestly just lost all interest in finishing the video If you would have said something along a lines of "I'm well versed on what this game's soundtrack consist of and I'm not a big fan", then I could respect that.

The feeling of watching that INCREDIBLE trailer for TOTK with that INCREDIBLE theme for the first time was incredible. It is SO GOOD

Wind Waker has a lot of great ost like Outer Island or the bosses fights, especially the Molgera battle. As for the Spirit Tracks, I can resume the whole game and the whole ost list in one track ~FULL STEAM AHEAD~ As a point of reference of how good that track is, in the 25th anniversary special orchestra sold with Skyward, the first track is a mix of various ost from the franchise which starts with Full Steam Ahead

The staff roll from skyward sword is by far my favourite song in the series

This is some really good stuff you have here form the perspective a somewhat musical person and a zelda fan. My only critiques are that Majora's Mask and Wind Waker should be higher. Tracks like Garo battle, Majora, the ocarina songs, and so many more are phenomenal for MM and Wind Waker has it's own slew of songs from Molgera to Grandma to Ganondorf to Aryll to the fortress to your home island. Bro, Zelda 2 is B tier for the dungeon theme alone

Zelda 2's temple theme should be enough to go up one notch. OoT's dungeon themes are some of the best in the series should be an S tier. Majora's Mask is hands down the best OST and I could sit and hum every single tune all day. Majora's mask has music that encapsulates the more depressing and conflicting themes of MM.

Wind Waker was done so dirty. Might not have the most iconic songs in the series but Dragon Roost island, windfall Island, outset island, the pirate theme, molgera battle theme, and puppet ganon theme are all highlights

putting Spirit Tracks and Wind Waker all the way down in "C" tier hurts my soul

Honestly agree with about 90% of this list. The three (kinda 4) games I just can't agree with are OoT, WW, BotW, and how high TotK is. OoT for me is just below SS. It's got one of the most consistently good and memorable soundtracks in the series. I think WW deserved to be a rank above where it landed. It's got some really beautiful music, especially in the remastered HD edition. BotW needs to go down to C or B again. It has little to no soundtrack for a 3D Zelda game, 60-70% of it consisting of piano flutters. It has some good music, just not enough. TotK has really good music and deserves something like A tier, but it borrows too much from BotW without change for me to say it's an S tier

This guy is hella underrated. I’ve watched hundreds of tier lists, this is definitely one of my favourite tier lists.

OoT has so many memorable soundtracks. Lost Woods, Geruddo Dessert, the Temple of Time, and all the warping songs. ToTK has like two goods soundtracks. And one of them is just good because it has a segment with the Roost Island's song.

This is dangerous work! Each Zelda game has multiple standout tracks. You ask ten different people and you will probably get ten different opinions. Nostalgia (Zelda 1), Anticipation (Zelda 2), next gen (Link to the Past), "has every right to be this good" (Link's awakening"), "the bandwagon" (ocarina of time), underrated (majoras mask), gets you in the feels (wind waker), because its the darkest (Twilight Princess), first one to be fully orchestrated (Skyward Sword), or "because I aprreciation for mono no aware" (BOTW) etc. Lol that actually was 10.

Okay, because I am a huge Zelda music nerd, I have a few unwarranted opinions 😂 Your list is great tho (the Celtic vibes of Tri-force Heroes are on point) (also Romance in the Air is one of my favorites too, it's one of the first piano arrangements I ever made!) PLEASE listen to the ZREO version of the Spirit Tracks soundtrack 🤌 I think ST as a whole is one of the best osts in the series because all of the songs are bangers. The only thing holding it back is the hardware. TWILIGHT PRINCESS C TIER 😭😭 REALLY 😭 This felt like a personal affront. Nope it's okay I'm totally fine 🥹 (Shadow Beasts?? Courage?? City in the Sky?? I'm glad to see people fully appreciate Skyward Sword - easily in the top 3 best Zelda games, and easily S Tier soundtrack. 👌 But man, did you fall off HARD putting Ocarina of Time outside of S Tier - and wtf are you thinking putting Majora's Mask in C?!?!? Clock Town in all of its variants is perfect; the Deku Palace and Woodfall Temple absolutely slap; the Ancient Castle of Ikana and the Stone Tower are two of the best songs in the series; Majora's theme is dark and ominous; the Milk Bar is a banger; and just the overworld themes create the perfect atmosphere. It's SO MUCH more than just the Astral Observatory and the Song of Healing.

A lot of the individual songs you mentioned are some of my faves too! I will say though that Seasons's Tarm Ruins theme is a good listen, considering the hardware limitations. Kinda wish there were more remixes of that.

Great video, I think nostalgia has taken over in the Zelda series a bit to much (as in people who played the old ones are just a tad to high-and-mighty for me). Keep doing what you're doing!

Windwaker actually has good music, they're just remixes of themes from Ocarina of Time (that and Link is actually the composer and not the one playing the music this time). If you have time, I encourage you to give it a listen again. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Putting all my other opinions about this aside, Twilight princess in B teir is criminal. Every song in the soundtrack does a beautiful job of building and improving any scene or scenario you are in. It is one of the greatest soundtracks of all of zelda

What I love about botw and totk botw had dragon roost island at rito village and totk. Totk had dragon roost island on Colgera theme too

Ok I have to say it. TOTK is an easy S tier and needs a deep dive. There are many amazing original tracks: such as Ancient Zora Waterworks, Water Temple (all progressions are MASTERFUL here), and Dragon Head Island - and remasters of old tracks that improve on the original, such as GameCube version of Rito Village. If you haven't you must check 'em out you MUST. Do it now. They almost transcend peak Zelda quality.

Absolutely love the Zelda soundtracks and enjoyed your opinions on them. I personally really enjoy a lot of themes from across the franchise and would find it hard to rank them, but overall the ones that stand out to me musically are the first 3 3D Zeldas (Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Wind Waker), with Link's Awakening being not far behind.
