My fave foundation so far is the Reboot from Makeup Forever. It's light coverage and hydrating. Makes my skin look blurred and youthful. Looks amazing in person and in photos. Look forward to watching this video! Love your channel :)
I'm obsessed with this look, especially your sweater!! My favorite foundations are the Shiseido Syncro Skin foundation, Saie Slip Tint, Danessa Myricks skin tint, and the Kjaer Weis cream foundation. I love a light to medium weight complexion product these days ~ 🐱 I'm just going to pick up some skincare and the UD metal mania eyeshadow palette during the sale this time around. The Hourglass looks so pretty on you! I'm normal to dry too, so maybe I'll try it next year. If Ciele had a shade 9.5 I would pick it up now, but I'll wait until I'm more tan and get shade 10 next summer ~ I mixed 9 and 10 in store and it was perfection. 😍
Ooh those are all good foundations. Metal mania was such a smart move for UD - I feel like interest in the brand was waning, but that is such a pretty palette. Just what they needed to get back on track!
My fave Sephora foundations are KVD, Kosas, Haus, LYS, and the Tower 28 tinted sunscreen. All have such a nice skin like dewy finish, and I think all of them have skincare ingredients!
I appreciate the makeup reviews! I don't rely on my makeup for skincare benefits. It's an extra perk yes, but I don't actively purchase something because it's "skincare". But I do steer clear from fragrances. I'll add that yummy skin tint to my sephora loves!
Re the Ciele ingredient list: it's probably listed correctly as per FDA OTC "drug" labeling. The zinc oxide is the actual "active" filter that they're declaring, while the titanium dioxide is likely serving its "white pigment" role in the formula. But the website is missing the OTC active-ingredient carve-out, for whatever reason, so there is definitely still something afoot lol. Their spf 30 powder is also messed up the same way, it doesn't even have zinc oxide or titanium dioxide in the inactive ingredient list at all.
Ahh true! But I admit I’m still perplexed by it not feeling drying (zinc oxide at 11% should feel drying, at least in my experience) Whew they have me all kinds of confused now. Undertones, spf confusion…😆
Those brushes are so good and of excellent value. I really like the NARS tint, I use the MISSHA BBcream, I use the NARS radiant concealer in different colours to cover where and how I need it and to touch up. I love Yummy skin and I think I’d like to try the Fenty skin stick. Thank you for your advice and insight into these new products. I actually am not sure I am going to pick up any foundation for this sale.
I’m curious about the fenty as well, would love to know if it really does feel different from most foundation sticks (which typically drag a bit on me!)
My favorite foundations don’t really have skincare ingredients but I’m obsessed with them. Saw a few other people listing their favs so here are mine: MAC F&B - a combo/dry skin HG for me. It looks like I’m wearing nothing at all. I’ve been using it for over ten years now and it’s the only foundation I reach for when my skin is in awful awful shape. It’s the one guaranteed to not make my skin look worse. I swear by it. It’s incredible. I’ve worn it before and after the repackaging. Light coverage. Pat McGrath - This bougie foundation gives you Bridgerton skin. That glowy, slightly luminescent, candlelit look. It’s so effing expensive but I’m always shocked at just how BEAUTIFUL my skin looks with it. Medium coverage. I also love and wear Merit Great Skin under all my foundations when I’m not wearing an SPF or when my skin is extra dry and foundation hungry.
For once the Sephora sale came at a time when I’m actually completely out of my favorite foundations!! I’m super excited to try the Danessa Myricks yummy skin! I had no idea about the Estee Lauter, though I think I have to try that as well! Prior, my favorite foundation at Sephora was the Nars light reflecting and as much as I loved it… bc I really did love it… there’s just something about it that is stopping me from re-purchasing. Something about the thickness of it and how it wore over time maybe, I’m not sure (my other favorite foundation is Chanel No. 1 at Ulta and it is thinner) Anyway, I knew I was going to be trying a new one during the sale, so that was so helpful! Thank you!!!! Also, I second the testament to the Sephora pro brushes. They are absolutely fabulous!! (and I can be snobby about brushes lol)
It’s like the stars align when a sale comes at the right time! I haven’t revisited Nars in a while, but I quit buying their foundations after I realized something was just a little off about the tone. I’d probably like lighter coverage options from them, but the full coverage looked close to right, and yet not quite right lol. Haha yes, I reach for their brushes more than some that are pricier. So good!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole you know what… it’s probably the shade being off that’s keeping me from repurchasing the Nars lmao you’re absolutely right, I have to mix two and that’s ridiculous!
Whoa, random comment, but why am I seeing ads for Bath and Body Works laundry detergent? Of course I had to look it up and how on earth do you put "coastal air" in a product, lol?
🤣 I always say the same thing when my mom and I read their candle notes . I'm like what the hell does fall autumn daydreams smell like and how do u put it in a candle .
This was fascinating from your skincare knowledge perspective. Alot of beauty influencers hated the Estee lauder. I rarely use a skin tint I have tower 28 and Charlotte tilbury light wonder . Weekends I just load up on Vit C antioxidants and K skincare and sunscreens. I'm literally bored with Sephora so I'm looking for more niche brands. Plus I hate all the baked in intangible markups. Lol
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I am very bothered by it unless I'm having a full tilt stress day and I just need a Chanel or YSL lipstick 💄 lol. I need clothes, so another niece getting married, party clothes, shoes etc 2 trips planned 1 to Utah so sweaters and boots and Grand Cayman while my estranged daughter has her big wedding without me abd Elissa. I'm heading for scuba and rum.
I usually use the Sephora sale to just stock up on things i already use. Mainly the more expensive skincare ( amore pacific essence). I’ve also used it for brushes in the past (mainly fenty and hourglass), since those rarely go on sale. To me a skin tint is supposed to kinda lightly even out your skin tone, so I expect some coverage.
I think you'll like the new glossier foundation as well. Marketed as a more skincare based foundation like the rest of these but I liked it a lot more than the dm yummy skin tint, that one made the dry patches stand out. I think it's because of the squalane because I like the milk makeup skin tint a lot as well. I'd love to try the hourglass one but it's a bit on the expensive side haha maybe if there's a black Friday sale
Uncle Bob cannot be trusted! I caught him washing his face with coffee grounds straight from the filter. Simply unbelievable 😑 Cosmetic chemists > Uncle Bob
Hi Alice. I agree with you on foundation being more pigmented since I prefer just a single coverage than reapply to cover up the scars and hyperpigmentation marks. May try out the HourGlass or Estee lauder oil based foundation upon finishing my old one. 😊 24:59
Yuuup, it looks far better on me to do light coverage and go in with concealer (or more foundation) where I need it! I have no idea how we did full coverage all the time back in the day 🤣
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I recalled applying 2 coats of foundation due to light and medium coverage and ended up with tight and cakey layers that crease the dry skin and faded away in the oily zones and have to still reapply in a few hours... 😅
The brush set looks like an amazing gift if you don't want them for yourself. I may grab a set, but other than that I'm only shopping some of their hair products. There's nothing else I really need and I'm holding out for Black Friday sales 😄
(In my spookiest voice:) “They’re coming…” Black Friday sales scare my wallet more than Halloween itself 👀 I hope they’re good this year, but if they are, damage will be done! 🤣
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I think there was a time when Black Friday was truly a start on Christmas shopping, but most people I know (including me!) are shopping for themselves at least as much as others, and yeah, my wallet is worried too! 😂
Have you tried the tatcha indigo overnight repair cream thing ? Aside from the price , do you like it ? It looks so lovely I think I’m gonna buy the mini size. I also struggle finding a good night cream that doesn’t clog pores
Love a yummy skin and glossier!!!! Exact same on me only difference is I need powder with yummy skin so I kinda like glossier better… idk it’s the closest tie ever 🤣🤣🤣
Exactly the same coverage look level just the yummy skin just has more hydration so I had to powder my t-zone I did a half half face 1 day lol I could not tell a difference
Gosh. I can’t really remember the other sale’s Sephora has after this one. I remember during Black Friday they will have certain products on sale but what else do you remember??
I have notes!! (My effort to be prepared for the sales season LOL) Sephora BF sale had a lot of 50% off specials, some favorites sets were 25% off - no code, stack a GWP. On cyber Monday, they offered 25% off via Klarna for the second year in a row. Stacks with whatever is left from the sale.
I'm checking out on Vanna should I check free express shipping or 5.95 for insured express shipping? Idk what to do. What do u do ? Do they lose stuff and damage stuff and not replace it ? I thought the whole point to go over the minimum was for free shipping. I'm so confused. O ur code is saving me 30.00 it's a total of 109.39. that's a great deal on a 7 oz bottle but I just don't know what to do on the shipping.
I wanted to love the bobbi brown skin tint because I love minimal coverage products. I also enjoy the smell; it smells just like the face base which is my favorite primer (my dry skins loves it). But unlike the face base, the skin tint smell never went away, and my face smelled like lemons for the whole day. I also do not have sensitive skin, I can try products and don't break out or have any irritation usually. This skin tint made my face itch soooooo bad. It was itching for hours after I applied it but I really wanted to give it a fair shot. About hour 4 I had to wipe it off because I could not stand the itching sensation, and not to mention my face still smelled like a lemon candle lol. I do not understand why this product has good reviews on the ulta app and sephora app, I'm assuming UGC has something to do with it. Anyways, love your content
Also I feel that we have such similar tastes in makeup and what works for our skin lol. I looooove the hourglass skin-tint. Best I have ever tried, and it lasts alllllll day. They really knocked it out the park with that one.
Oh wow thank you for sharing! I cannot get over my disappointment with it. I really love the brand (yep, face base is amazing!) - but wow. I would feel so sad if this product was someone’s intro to the brand. Talk about a bad first impression!! 🫣
Would be an awful first impression for sure. I keep reminding myself that just because it didn't work for me it could work for others. But in gtood faith I just cannot recommend it. The hourglass skin-tint is far superior and the Chanel Water-tint fresh is also much better. Idk what went wrong here lol @@AliceintheRabbitHole
Not me I work hard for what little money I earn if I buy a product no matter what it is and it does not do what it claims etc it goes back to ULTA Sephora target etc if I can repurpose it then it gets returned
I can't figure out what I'm getting in the sale their is alot I want but I'm ordering the Sk11 in a few mins from Vanna and I was gonna get the set from Sephora but I rather spend a tiny bit more and have a 7oz bottle and wait for it. I want the Tom Ford new rose soliel highlight but do I need a 90$ highlight, algenist 3 x peptide eye balm ( restock) and farmacy green clean( restock)maybe a few other things but idk exactly what I'm getting yet I have the Ceil tint and blush in Kristy in my cart too but I haven't decided if that is the complexion product I want to try I also want to get the Armani luminous silk concealer, I haven't tried that yet and maybe the brush set O I also have the Guerlain meteorites holiday packaging in my cart but it's been years sense I used it and I don't if my skin can handle something with that amount of frangerance anymore . I just bought the new Xenon ND pallet and a Chanel and Tom Ford quad this week so do I need more eyeshadow not really 🤣 Skincare I am a Korean skincare girl and the other stuff I like I have to order from their sites like revive ,Dermtlgy and Niod so their is only a few skincare items I use from Sephora now.
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I bought it for the cool toned shimmers in it basically as a paring pallet or to make my own perfect cool toned pallet with her other middi pallets. The shimmers are beautiful but the mattes suck ok she put like 4 mattes in it and basically they are 3 shades of a white 🤣alittle grey white, white white and a flesh tone and then a very lightest of grey shade. ??? She should have put some mauves toupe a cool brown some other matte shades besides 3 shades of white something more mid tone then a darker matte but I went into it knowing I was going to use other matte shades so I'm happy with it and it's beautiful but if I was expecting it to be a all in one pallet I would be alittle disappointed. I used the mini Starlet mauvey grey toned matte and a little darker shade of mauve with the pink ND shimmer yesterday and it was so pretty. I did make a look with the shades in the pallet and it was really pretty too but not alot u can do with the mattes she choose to put in. It would also look great with the viseart cool matte pallet, I just thought about that.
Ooh what a mistake on the ciele SPF listing. Their whole schtick is having SPF in it, so it should be labeled correctly. But I don't really understand their thing with spf. You shouldn't depend on makeup for your coverage, any SPF lover would know that and reinforce that important factoid, this will cause issues for some, thinking a regular amount of foundation will protect them 😔
Yeahhh, I have a lot of mixed feelings about it already as J-Beauty brands love to add SPF to everything (so I’ve had time to think about it lol) I guess I can see the appeal in Asian products in that…it’s extra SPF? But at the same time, applying an adequate layer of sunscreen and reapplying as needed is enough. And as such, should be the focus? It gets real murky in the west as people here aren’t as good about sunscreen, from applying it in the first place to applying enough!
Opinion-I find all the holiday crap before Samhain (halloween), before thanksgiving so annoying! Black Friday should be more like "Black First" sales that happens December 1st. Halloween is an actual "holiday" for me & hearing Christmas tunes in stores before even November 1st- just stop, please!! Oof, i slacked on this youtube channel. 😂 It's time for an Alice binge. Your skin looks so glowing and amazing!! 🥰
It’s ridiculous!! We went up to the grocery store to get some Halloween cookies that Ara loves, and they had already cleared the shelves for Christmas cookies instead. On Oct 28. What in the world!? Can we please have Halloween!! 🎃 Hope you’re doing well 🥰
Oh awesome, thank you for sharing! Yes this sale is better for hair/makeup! It’s also hard to prioritize Sephora skincare over …you know, K-Beauty…the incredible drugstore brands…indies…le sigh lol!
I am so annoyed with foundations lately, I have bought some expensive foundations and it says nothing about spf in the discription or when I watch reviews then I get them home they look beautiful on( light coverage of course) then I break out and I'm like wth I look in the ingredients list and their are US chem filters in it then u see all tiny spf 10 ?? Like what ?? Why bother and I have wasted 55-160$ on crap Tom Ford shade and illuminate for example the Givenachy skincare and glow foundation idk what they did there they added like 10x the frangerance as it use to have too and I can't use or return by the time I figure out what's in it, so now I'm reading all ingredients list on makeup. O the frangerance too knock me over they are putting so much frangerance in makeup these days u would think ur using a perfume on your face not a blush or foundation or lipstick .
@@AliceintheRabbitHole It's a cheap base for these expensive ass foundations they make a ton of money on . I think that's the reason they do it because it's useless and it breaks sensitive people out and when the spf goes bad in the formula they think that people will replace it hints the new 6 month shelf lives with all these new formulas especially like Dior and the lux brands. It's probably all about the money .
So many opinions.... ok... 1) Sephora's not good for the sale vs. most other options as you say. That said in theory you could do a Sephora favorites to provide notice for people who want a one and done shopping trip. You could also mention where to find brands for less as an informative tool; 2) I'm too snobby to try the Sephora pro brushes and have no idea why (though nor do I neee brushes)... but have seen 1-2 sets historically that were great including a few years back when one had a 30mL SK-II essence; 3) I don't understand Bobbi Brown scents... why does their luxury face base smell like a children's popsicle....; and 4) You nailed it on undertone. I'm medium/dry skin with a very pink undertone and if I put a skin tint on with a neutral undertone it looks like all my pores have collected "yellow" colored blackheads or something due to the undertone variation. Given how rarely an heavy pink undertone is seen in tints I have never found one fit for purpose.
It’s true, it can have a place. I’ve seen others point out that one con with buying direct is that most websites don’t offer free shipping, while Sephora does (I still struggle to remember this as I remember very well when it wasn’t free at Sephora lol). My most recent face base smelled so strong!! I thought it was a light scent in the past, but I can’t figure out if I’m more used to unscented products or if they really have amped up the scent!!
