Well done young man. Your Dad, who I had the pleasure of meeting one fine afternoon outside ABC in Glasgow would be very proud of you. Keep skanking. 🕴🏻
Same here, Alejandro. Crying all the way through - what a beautiful tribute to a man who brought so much joy. Inspiring generations for years to come, I have no doubt.
Absolutely beautiful you have a lovely voice your dad would be so proud your mom and dad were both in the same year and school as me and I knew them both all my life great fun at school RIP roger
The 1st band i ever saw play at Birmingham Lacarono, 1981 was The Beat, i was around 13.. i was into ska, so at 15 got a saxophone.. when me and my friend went to pick it up, who was in Woodruffs, music shop... but Ranking Roger , Lynval and Neville, they turned around and said hello to us.. then seeing Roger skating down Cannon Hill Park as i jogged regularly around there..he always said high.. then i meet him at a friend's book launch, Roger was talking there. He came and spent the rest of the evening talking with us like he'd know us for years.. each encounter made my day✌🏾
What an incredible tribute. Every time I hear this I well up 😢 Had the privilege of being at your show in Brum last night. It blew me away. Papa Roger would have been so proud of you ❤ Thank you for keeping The Beat going. Love and unity ❤
My man, brought a tear to my eye, I was lucky enough to see you both perform together in frome just before he passed. Thoughts going out to you and your family on the anniversary. Much love
thanks for sharing the lyrics - such a great tribute song and your third released since his passing - you are such a great talent Junior - keep it going and you will be a legend too
Hey Ranking Jnr, I chatted to Tony Beet of The International Beat a while ago about the idea of you & him together with Everett Morton, Dave Blockhead & Wesley Magoogan in a new version of The Beat, He liked the idea of that. I think it would be cool & I just know your dad would be saying yes go for it. Anyway respect to ya, stay safe & well 👍
Really? I don't think many know where Blockhead even is (Dave Wakeling certainly doesn't) and Wesley Magoogan had a bad hand injury years ago and I'm nearly positive he is no longer able to play sax. And the prospect of a version of The Beat where the only original member is the drummer? Meh.
@@oceandreamjim I never knew Wesley had an injury. I doubt that Andy Cox or David Steele would be interested, but I think the idea of Tony Beet teamed up with Ranking Jnr would be cool anyway, Btw Dave Wakeling has his own version of The Beat in California.
@@skavillecity Oh yeah I know. I have Dave's English Beat album, Here We Go Love, great album. Honestly, I don't know if it's feasible but if there is some kinda Beat reunion (without Saxa and Rog of course), perhaps you could have Dave, Everett and Ranking Junior with maybe Blockhead. Honestly, losing Saxa and then especially Roger really kinda puts paid to any hope of a large scale Beat reunion ever again. I think the Royal Albert Hall show was as close as we'll ever get.
I'm such a huge fan of the beat and Rankin Roger and now you too and I have subbed to the channel and I hope to see you get to where you Should be..at the top! Thanks for your music and the message it sends 😊
