Her best vocal album is her debut imo. Her voice was the star of that album. Emotions and Merry Christmas had the choir element that gave it lots of fullness and soul. In Daydream and Butterfly, she was layering songs with lots of background vocals and ad libs. In her debut Mariah Carey, it really was Mariah straight singing without much frills or addition. It felt raw and like she was singing the songs in one take. There was also creativity from Mariahs raps on Prisoner and Someday to her whistle notes on Vision Of Love to her soft whispered verses on I Don’t Wanna Cry to her church wails on Vanishing. She showed elements of her future vocal style (hip hop, gospel, r&b, Pop) on one album

i think TEOM and Emotions are very similar, she was a savage when it comes to the vocal performances on those two

I love Caution! But it had the support of the technology, certainly, still a great album! ⚠️💜

1 - Merry Christmas 2 - Emotions 3 - Music Box 4 - Butterfly 5 - Daydream I would say Butterfly is slightly higher than Daydream because the studio versions of Butterfly songs had that mature tone to die for but also some level of vocal ease comparable to Daydream.

You should do the same with the tours

glitter is my favorite album vocally, it has my favorite tone, the perfect blend of daydream and raimbow era, also, the runs, the resonance, idk, glitter has a few of her best vocal songs.

Me I am Mariah - I personally think that Mariah choose to heavily put autotune on her vocals to "fit in" in this time period of EDM and autotune music. However her vocals are still amazing and very agile and fluid. 9. Charmbarcelet - mostly whispering with high climaxes 10. Glitter - in my opinion overhyped by the fandom. Vocally lead the way is amazing but as a whole cant compared to the albums above. 11. Merry Christmas 2 you 12. Rainbow - very colorful album but same as glitter 13. Memoirs of an imperfect angel 14. E=MC2 15. Caution - one if her best albums musically but when compare g her vocals they just aren't as strong.

Personally, I gotta give the best album to teom The way Mariah Showed people In this album that everything she did in the 1990’s till now, she can do, but better in so many ways, this was one hell of a comeback album ngl The versatility grit, dark but bright tone yet fullness of her voice in teom was something she one upped emotions on tbh, the way she approached songs in teom Was defo one of the reasons why it tops almost every album she has. It’s giving a whole blender of rainbow, butterfly, daydream and emotions. I cannnot stress how amazing the songs in this album is

I'd rank Memoirs right after Caution and before E=MC2. Memoirs has a more laid-back approach than E=MC2 and a lot of the belting were mostly in the background.

My ranking ( basing this on lead vocals): 1. TEOM - multiple A5 belts, subtle but complex runs, a stamina and breath control queen, resonant sustained belts, showcases different belting textures (strains, growls, clear, yells) and whistle textures 2. Butterfly - agility and stamina are required, just a little less range than TEOM, but probably her most emotional vocals. 3. Glitter - the most sustained notes are on this album, the agility in Lead the Way, one of the more colourful albums vocally. 4. Music Box - great balance between being expressive and being showy. Some of her best technical vocals. Lacks a lower range. 5. Emotions - hard ass whistles, constant phrased upper belts, lack of agility and expressiveness prevents a higher placement 6. Debut - the variety of whistles, her most raw takes, sustained F5s, strained upper belts blocks any higher placement. 7. Merry Christmas (controversial) - this is where I start placing things by their negatives. Lovely tone and her most pleasant vocals but a lot of straining in the upper belts and not a lot of daring vocals outside of Oh Holy Night, which is the only song preventing the album going lower. Live performances don’t affect the quality of studio vocals. 8. Daydream - same critiques as MC except nothing big enough to put it higher. Stamina is a requirement on a lot of tracks, but it’s not as impressive when considering they’re studio vocals compared to how TEOM most breathtaking vocals flow and connect flawlessly. 9. Charmbracelet - too chipmunky and not expressive enough. Lots of upper belts but they’re predictable. 10. Rainbow - strained and lacks in range. Quite chipmunky in places too. Only three of the songs from this album are that difficult to sing (HB, CTTA, AAO) 11. E=MC2 - lovely tone but strained to oblivion in the upper belts. Not a lot of agility or transitions except for Love Story and I Wish You Well. 12. Memoirs - same problems as E=MC2 except it’s also autotuned to death. 13. MC2Y - same problems as memoirs but she autotuned fakes runs in some songs like Oh Santa. 14. Me I Am Mariah - the agility sounds a tiny bit more natural but also aren’t placed very well. It’s not just the runs and climaxes being autotuned. Upper belts would have ranked it higher but that was ruined with the constant overlapping in adlibs, she didn’t even know what line to lip sync to on the tour. 15. Caution - her voice is unfortunately fragile on this album that even the mid belts sound fake. Less fake runs likes than the earlier albums but weak whisper vocals and there are no upper belts and not a lot of whistles either. Just my opinion. It’s not reflective of the actual music from these albums just how well it’s produced vocally.
